The 2018 buget is currently under deliberation and lawmakers seem to be divided along party lines with APC Senators seeking a quick passage and PDP Senators kicking against it.

Abaribe have disagreed over the issue. Abaribe who was first to speak described the budget as ' a piece of fiction'.
Abaribe was challenged by Sen. Lawan who challenged his choice of words. He said it was not right for Abaribe to describe a document submitted by the President himself as ' a piece of fiction'.
Another lawmaker from Gombe State, Sen. Joshua Lidani said the budget was dead on arrival, he described the budget as being built on quick sand.
