Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 7:51pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
viee: Santoro is 35, if you cant beat him then you'll never win a slam. The real test for Andy has just begun. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by 4Play(m): 7:53pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
@A-40 If Ivanisevic could do it in '01 against all odds, its not far fetched for Murray. There is hope! |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by MethodMan3(m): 7:53pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
davidylan: Tennis dont work like dat though pal It aint some theory based on mathematical factors!!! Becoz Santoro is 35 dont mean he cant have a lucky day and win!!! True, real test for Andy has just begun |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by viee(f): 7:54pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
i really dnt see Andy goin beyond d 4th round too bad, whn compared to hw Djokovic has progressed i still wonda hw he always manage to beat Fedex as u said it just Tim part 2 |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 7:56pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
4 Play: Like the ill-fated "hope 93"? I want to see Andy play Roddick, Nadal or Djokovic . . . then only can we give him a realistic chance of winning. Ivanisevic won in the weak era . . . serve and volley tennis. Method-Man: Age counts bro. Santoro cant chase down so many balls and so Andy could afford to play cute dropshots. Against nimble players like Gulbis or Nadal he'll be digging his own grave. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by viee(f): 7:57pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
@A-40, trust me, Andy cannot repeat dat magic |

Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by viee(f): 8:03pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
and talkn abt them here they r for the doubles |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 8:03pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
likely one of the williamses will win this. The female game is too weak at the moment, i dont consider Ivanovic a valid number 1. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by viee(f): 8:08pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
itz gonna be real tuff i thnk itz kinda open now with so many pple with possible chance of winning it sumtyms i wish women Tennis will take 3 sets to win i thnk thats one sure way of seperatn the girls from the women. . . . i also thnk Ivanovic is far more consistent, been in a couple of finals from last season kept that momentum and marked it with a win in RO where i for one expected Safina to win IMO, she really deserve to be No 1. i still hp d Williams can get this, but it will be open . . . |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 8:21pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
the women's event is too poor. Its swarmed by average eastern european players who can basically put the ball back in play forever. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 10:54pm On Jun 24, 2008 |
Gasquet's backhand must be one of the most beautiful shots in all of tennis. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 3:43pm On Jun 25, 2008 |
My prediction was spot on! Major upset of the tournament so far . . . Safin upsets Djokovic 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 If i had placed a bet i'd have won a tidy sum. Kudos Marat. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by iice(f): 6:53pm On Jun 25, 2008 |
Women's tennis is getting really dry these days. Hah so Safin did it, kudos. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by JeSoul(f): 7:46pm On Jun 25, 2008 |
davidylan:best news I've heard all day! I'm happy for him. If only Safin had the mental stamina and grit, and be consistent the chaos he could cause. I like Djokovic, but I wonder how he feels now after calling out FedEx? |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 8:53pm On Jun 25, 2008 |
JeSoul: I must have orgasmed just watching Safin thrash this loud mouth. How Federer must be beside himself with joy by now. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by JeSoul(f): 1:52pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
davidylan:*clears throat* How Federer must be beside himself with joy by now.now Roger himself must make sure he goes deep into the draw and prove the doubters wrong. I don't even think I want to see those skinny capris in the finals . . . I'm getting tired of the Federer/Nadal thing sef. We need fresh drama. . . |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by tng(f): 3:31pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Hope there wont be another upset. the nadal-gulbis game is on now.its one set all and tied on the third.getting started on the tie break. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 5:09pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
tng: 5-7, 6-2, 7-6, 6-3 . . . Nadal puts Gulbis firmly in his place. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by viee(f): 6:36pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Ivanovic almost lost yrst, Sharapova was beaten James Blake too, anytn can happen in a grand lam anyway |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 7:59pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
viee: Ivanovic is not so good and deserved to lose to Dechy but for a lucky net chord. Sharapova is very overrated. James Blake is a spent force. Roddick is going home to Tipsy. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by JeSoul(f): 9:03pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
davidylan:it's only a matter of time for her Sharapova is very overrated.hmm I dunno if overrated is the right word. I still have the image of her trashing Serena couple yrs ago in the finals. She's still young, and will still pack some more grandslams under her small belt. James Blake is a spent force.Accurate description. I hate the way they always hype him up before any open only for him to fall woefully short. I wonder if he's not tired of trying? gotta admire the persistence I guess Roddick is going home to Tipsy.Remember the swagger he had after winning the us open n was #1 . . . I wonder what happened to all that. . .oh wait I know. . .Roger Federer happened! lol viee:That's the key word, anything can happen |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 9:08pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Roddick is all serve and nothing more. He would do well on a fast surface where he can bomb aces or serve-and-volley. Put the ball down and he's found wanting. Ivanovic is not as good as the media hypes her. A few more disappointments and she will go the Ana Kournikova way, small talent, cute face and suddenly she's the next big thing. Sharapova is no good . . . hard flat strokes cannot win you games forever. Effort can only get you so far. I can only imagine if the Williams sisters were white blonds . . . they'd be the face of women's tennis today. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Razorr(f): 11:07pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
I loved the Gulbis-Nadal game. Gulbis gave Nadal something to think about. Pity he lost. What a match! |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 11:22pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
@Davidylan I am afraid I have to disagree. The Williams sisters have as many inconsistencies in their game as much as Sharapova does, notably Serena's forehand. Sharapova's acchilles heel at the moment is her serve. The wind seemed to disturb her more than it prolly should, Last year it was also her serve, when she had a shoulder injury. I feel you about the 'face of tennis' comment. . . .the way the cookie crumbles mehn. @Razorr. Also saw the Gulbis game. I was hopeful after Gulbis took the first set. But Nadal figured out the serve and Gulbis forehand, his biggest weapon grew ever more erratic. Gulbis looks like a talent. His serve can be harder I suppose for someone of his height, and a little more control on his groundstrokes and he might crack top 10 |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 11:27pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Gulbis is another Djokovic-style player. Not surprising as they both started out at the same academy in Germany. The problem was whether he'd be able to stand Nadal in a 5-setter. On this evidence, not yet. He's certainly top 10 material. The likes of James Blake shld give way. |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 11:42pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Eh. . . .You people should leave Djoko alone ooo. He is a lot livelier character than the other members of the top3. Safin has got game, and on his day will cause the likes of Djokovic problems. The matchup suits him because they practically play a similar game, and he Safin is stronger. Djoko's serve let him down, but I expect him to bounce back/ As an aside. . . . .can anyone tell me if they have seen a tennis pro play the drop shot as much as Murray does. Like jeez, every three shots, he must play a drop shot. Entertaining though |
Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by Nobody: 11:44pm On Jun 26, 2008 |
Murray will soon drop-shot his way out of this tournament soon as he faces a quick baseliner with terrific passing shots. He'd be creamed off the court. Djoko is a talent no doubt but he shld allow his racket do more of the talking. Mentally tired after half a season? Maybe he'll have more respect for Fed now. |

It seems lots of Russians have some form of Yoruba roots. Kudyratseva I hear has a Kudirat somewhere in her lineage/ The Russian goalkeeper is another. Akinfeev-------Akinfenwa |
