Never heard of an "Umuaro", but there is Aro-Ngwa settlement in ala Ngwa. Their occupation came as a result of Aro-sponsored, Abam invasion on Umuajuju. They killed and raided the area, making some room for some Aro to settle in amongst already established Ngwa.

I was born in Enugu, but since Ibo culture is patriarchal I'm from Imo State. I'm kinda in the same boat with my dad. He was born and partially raised in the north but is from Imo State. Technically speaking I'm not "fully" Igbo. My grandmother is a Cross River woman which makes my mother half Ibo. I acknowledge both my Cross River and Ibo heritage though.

Say what?  shocked shocked You have no idea what you are missing. A well made vio vio is light years ahead of jolof rice and beans, beans and yam, mamaput rice and beans with stew, ''kanda'' and fried plantain. The only thing that comes close is "Abacha ncha" with "azu mangala" and "afufa" or akpu(Santana) and onugbu soup with azu mangala, snails, okporoko and goat meat.  grin grin

There is no ethnic group called Cross River. It could be Ekoi, Legbo, Efik etc. Forget the idea of being fully Igbo or not, your father is Igbo and that makes you Igbo. Be proud of your Igbo heritage.

@ grafikdon tell her, she is really missing. Even Aiza used vio vio for his wedding and it was history!

I know there's no ethnic group called Cross River. My grandmother's English isn't very good so it makes it difficult for me to really pinpoint where she is from. I've been working on trying to figure out exactly where she's from since Igbo isn't her native language. And I am proud of my heritage but I don't like the idea of not really acknowledging my non-Ibo side.

Bro, you better grab one fast! You need one who is real though. By real I mean, the ones who can cook those dishes. You may have to head home if you are not already home, to find that type. They are fast going extinct, thanks to our collective lethargy for our best assets.

Please no pun intended, are you Igbo? You can only be forgiven if you are not from Igbo land, or if your part of Igbo land is not into abacha. I am yet to meet an Igbo that doesn't know this dish.

^^

And to answer your question, it is like asking whether a lion is a cat.

Abacha is a superior (by far) form of salad.  cool cool cool The only thing that makes it a salad is the anara/afufa + ugba/ ukpaka + azu mangala +. . . raised to power "n" if you are into Mathematics.

I didn't say he should bring her to the states. I know some folks whose wives are in Nigeria; they visit home to spend 3 months each trip. It can be done, and people are doing it already.

As for Yoruba men, they should worry more about us stealing their women. Remember bros Ezeuche?  cool

I won't sleep at night if I were a Yoruba man.  grin

True that. One of my aunt does thee same thing.
But I just dnt get how ppl do it esp when dealing with a nigerian man, guess it all boils down to trust.

I rem ezeuche, but what has he stolen? Give me a month to crush his ego and he'll be eating out of my palms. Only a yoruba man can handle this. Ezeuche knows that wink

Yoruba men sleep well. Thatz why they have extra fatty skin around their neck cool
