New Haven Police say a 25-year-old man who claims he was shot in the groin and left leg in the daylight hours of Nov. 9, after leaving a deli on the corner of George and Day streets, went home to eat the sandwich before asking his father to drive him to Yale-New Haven hospital for treatment, WFSB reports.

The man said he was exiting the deli when he heard three gunshots. Officers did not detail whether the man had not realized he had been wounded or if the injuries were not serious enough to require immediate medical care, though the police report did say the gunshot wounds were non-life-threatening.

No arrests were reported at press time.
