fortran12: Don't worry. Nigeria will re open even with the virus around, but by then a lot of people would have realized the importance of social distancing and other preventive measures. Up till now some people still think covid-19 is a hoax, is that when u want the government to re open? Sweden have over 16,000 cases and almost 2,000 deaths and they never imposed a lockdown. But it's citizens understand the dangers of this virus and they have been cooperating with the government to practice preventive measures. Japan have over 11,000 cases but didn't impose a lockdown, just a state of emergency in some hard hit regions. South Korea conquered covid-19 without a lockdown and they have over 10,000 cases with just about 230 deaths. What they did was massive testing and contact tracing, and their citizens also co operated. Nigeria can overcome this virus without a lockdown but not until the citizens start taking responsibility and do the right thing to slow down it's spread. China have re opened and they still have new cases everyday but the citizens already know what this virus can do and are taking precautions. 1 Like |

greenhulk:Policies should be drafted about social distancing to be adhered to by companies, hand sanitizing stations , should be available in public places, people should go about with face masks and gloves, vehicles should not be allowed to carry too many people and anyone that violates these will be dealt with by the law. It's best to be proactive instead of keeping everyone in and losing from both ends |

Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by Nobody: 12:47am On Apr 23, 2020 |
fortran12: Exactly. The government have a lot to do in making sure many people are tested. This one they are saying testing kits are not available in Kano testing centers, that's a disgrace. What have they been doing with all the donated funds? Massive testing should be made available. The citizens have a part to play too. When u have covid-19 symptoms, don't go to a local hospital and go and contaminate the place, stay at home call for help. Some contacts of infected people are still hiding and refusing to get tested, how will things work if this continues to happen. Nigerians need to be sensitized, only then can the government ease on the lockdown. Covid-19 is not a death sentence, but the earlier cases are discovered the better for everyone. |

fortran12: oyeb15: There's NO cure or vaccine for Covid-19... The Lockdown/Social Distancing slows down the rate of infection... So that instead of (eg) 10,000 cases in 1 week or month, you have maybe 1000. That enables even a rickety healthcare system like ours to better manage the crisis... The absolute worst case scenario would be having so many simultaneous cases overwhelming the system by sheer numbers. > |

SenecaTheYonger: THANK YOU.. sometimes we blacks are not smart in the decision we make.. I live in Scandinavia.. in Denmark population of 5.8m. 410.death of coronavirus 350 in intensive means with lungs infection over 3000 infected, they do not do a total lockdown... Sweden 8mil.in population over 1000 deaths of coronavirus. There's is no total lockdown.. Europeans are smart they continue to encourage Africans leaders for total lockdown so that the African economy will collapse... I admire Ghanaian president who re-open the economy . 1 Like |

9jaRealist: Social distancing and lock down are not the same, social distancing can be encouraged while the economy reopens, lock down cannot be managed as people get hungry, no money, recession, increased crime rate and still having corona cases |

erico2k2: A trial is NOT a cure nor a slam-dunk. Trials fail regularly... Even with successful antidotes, you still have to weigh any side-effects... and that can only be determined with the passage of time. You are NOT going to see a Covid-19 vaccine in use tomorrow or next month, perhaps not even this year at all. > |

fortran12: Neither are the mutually-exclusive... Accordingly, no reason we cannot use BOTH. Neither a lockdown nor social distancing can be implemented 100%... Nonetheless, the less people you have roaming around, the less the chances for transmissions even if distancing is not 100%. > |

9jaRealist:The point is that its a communicable disease, you cant erradicate until a cure is found, and most people who have it will get well. A lot of people get well without medication |
