9jaRealist:If you say lock down, people stay in their houses, how are you sure they are distancing themselves? What if people are allowed to have the virus and develop immunity as some people have already, then use their anti bodies to create a vaccine |

fortran12: Again, the point of the lockdown is NOT eradication but reduction... EVERY positive case, whether symptomatic, mild, moderate or none at all, still has to be isolated... So, even if the extreme cases are less than 10%, healthcare facilities will be overstretched by sheer numbers. > |

fortran12: Social distancing is substantively different mere physical distancing.... Nobody expects spouses or members of the same family to physically distance themselves. > |

9jaRealist:So at what point should the lock down be lifted when you know that locking down has economic impact, why should the whole nation suffer because of a few people. There are better ways to treat this, there are some countries that managed the situation without a lock down, Sweden and S. Korea, even the Ghana lock down was 3 weeks and the country used the period to study and analyse the best way to tackle the virus. Nigeria's lock down has no strategy |

fortran12: When the rate (not necessarily number) of infection start to flatten or bend downwards... South Korea had a partial lockdown (it closed down high-risk facilities and banned religious, spirts and entertainment events), in addition to social distancing. Even then, there’s been a recent uptick in new cases in Korea, as well as so-called “re-infections”. Meanwhile, Ghana only literally just lifted its lockdown, and only the passage of time will determine if there’s a new spike of infections or if it’s a good decision. Suffice it to note that Sweden suffered almost TEN TIMES AS MUCH Covid deaths than its locked-down neighboring countries. > |

9jaRealist:So you prefer chaos over facing a challenge? Am sure there is an African country without a single case cos they have not bothered to test and am sure you have not heard that everyone there died. Just wait till the pandemic is over and you will hear revelations and how people over hyped the virus just as they did during the y2k bug period |

Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by 9jaRealist: 9:18pm On Apr 24, 2020 |
fortran12: Nope, prefer sound health over facing health challenges... The reality of Covid-19 is that EVERYONE is making it up as they go along. But why would you adopt Sweden’s policy... When the outcome is almost TEN TIMES WORSE than their neighbors? > |
Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by 9jaRealist: 9:21pm On Apr 24, 2020 |
erico2k2: So? You could also go to the local herbalist if you want... The point is that a trial does not equate to a cure or a vaccine. > |

Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by 9jaRealist: 9:37pm On Apr 24, 2020 |
fortran12: We can try... But of course the reality is we don’t have their testing capacity (not even the US or the UK does)... South Korea suffered gravely from its previous coronavirus (SARS) outbreak and built an entire infrastructure on that experience. > |

9jaRealist:Stay there, more than 80 persons have been vaccinated plus Herbalist has no scientific narrative of what they do, but this is promising so I'm staying positive!U can be -ve that's ur own opinion! Let me add, When one finds himself in a difficult situation the worse thing that can be done is NOT TO DO ANYTHING! |

erico2k2: Strawman Argument... How does saying there's presently no cure or vaccine and thus we should isolate/social distance equate to advocacy for doing nothing? You are placing your entire faith on something AT BEST might (or might NOT) help by next year rather than do something NOW to help ourselves. Since you apparently like cliched sayings... Here another one: PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE! > |
Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by erico2k2(m): 7:41am On Apr 26, 2020 |
9jaRealist:Funny enough vaccination is a preventative procedure |
Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by 9jaRealist: 7:55am On Apr 26, 2020 |
erico2k2: Not if it is coming a year after you have the problem (assuming it even works)... By definition, a preventative procedure is carried out BEFORE a problem arises, not a year later. A vaccine next year is NOT prevention for a population CURRENTLY at risk, while Lockdown/Distancing is... Many people who lives could easily be spared by a lockdown and social distancing would die before any vaccine. Btw, you seem to have this misguided notion that every clinical trial results in an efficacious remedy... When medical history is replete with failures (including the disastrous Pfizer meningitis drug trials in Kano). > |

9jaRealist:Well if U live in my world I'm sure your views will differ. What has a person who is a front line job and designated as a key worker got to lose? Plus its its free |
Re: COVID-19: Sanwo-olu Commissions Eti-osa Isolation Centre (photos) by 9jaRealist: 8:03am On Apr 26, 2020 |
erico2k2: Literally their lives... The reason for long clinical trials is to adequately study the effects (including possibly dangerous side effects) of drugs. Better safe than sorry. > |
