The point is that its a communicable disease, you cant erradicate until a cure is found, and most people who have it will get well. A lot of people get well without medication

So, even if the extreme cases are less than 10%, healthcare facilities will be overstretched by sheer numbers.

Social distancing is substantively different mere physical distancing....
Nobody expects spouses or members of the same family to physically distance themselves.

Even with successful antidotes, you still have to weigh any side-effects... and that can only be determined with the passage of time.

The reason for long clinical trials is to adequately study the effects (including possibly dangerous side effects) of drugs. Better safe than sorry.
