Selling out the lane you where born is not normal, for me I can never dream of such even if I am the poorest man on the planet.

The moment you sold that land the same moment you sold the family Unity.

You can sell everything you acquired but not that one.

Bro/sir... I'm not dumb, I don't have issues with the op first write up. Going through his subsequence replies I figured out a lot of things.

About hatred, you don't expect him to publicly declare that's why he's using a subtly way to do so.

She's the only child from his father 2nd wife and her present in the meeting concerning their fathers property isn't negotiable, she's the 2nd family representative.

Wether what she said is wrong or write... You don't bring family affairs to public domain to seek strangers validations and sense of "rights"

Off point as usual

From a family of 4 Children, as the head Child, 2 boys and one Girl .There was frequent demand for money from my Junior ones who are yet to find their bearing.

Today Bros Anything for me, tommorow Bros am broke etc. I decided to come up with an Idea to sample their opinion on what to do about our Dads One plot which has four rooms. Each person collects the room rent. As The house Maintenance is only done by me, others just come collect money and leave.

I organised a meeting asking what should be done about the House. One Male Suggested shop should be builts and be Rented out, the other male suggested a Developer should be called upon. The girl suggested that the whole land should be sold, same land her father is Buried.

After further delibrations the other two males agreed half plot should be Sold then part of the money realised be used to develop the remaining half plot on which there father is Buried while the remaining money is shared equally among the four Children.

The Girl Finnaly stands on her Decision that the whole plot of land be sold and money should be shared and her father's grave be removed.
What sort of response should one give to such a Child?

How does a dead man grave put food on your table? That's a myopic mentality If it's necessary to sell it, sell it. But they should go and find a god damn job and not to depend on their father's property. sad
Re: Would You Sell The Land Where Your Parents Were Buried? by DexterousOne(m): 3:08pm On Oct 05, 2020
Complications like these is why I dont endorse burying someone inside compound or property

In time to come (hundreds of years maybe )
Most of these lands will be sold
With the bodies under
Its inevitable

A dead man is dead. Most of the expensive and sentimental things we do to give their life meaning is pointless. It's not in your power to give one's life meaning. It's in their life's.

I don't even subscribe to the idea of burying people (especially with those vital organs) worse still purposely suffer for a piece of land. We need to re-evaluate these traditions.

if the plot is in Banana Island or a location that will fetch a lot of money, then the plot should be sold and his remains shold be buried at a high profile cemetery or a masoleum should be built elsewhere.

The dead will be happy with the decision.

Its not a new thing and its a wise suggestion. its is appointed for human to die and return to dust.
any other thing is a ceremony.

Get a developer, reach an agreement with him and enjoy una life. All those mini flats developers build, landlord do have share in them. They might give you one flat or two, and you will still collect money for the long lease join.

I'm in this situation too... I have a land with my mom buried in it and i am not even employed to start building a house. Can you give full details about what these developers do?

If the said land is located where it worth say, N20 million, then sell the land. Go to area where land is still cheap, say N300k to N1m, buy 4 to 8 plots of land. Use the remaining money to regularized documents for the land, with each of you having 1 to 2 plots and fence the land together with four gates. Each gate marking the plot(s) for each person.
So, everyone of you will have documents for his or her own land.

. Thanks so much for your input .The thing is that Half out of the one plot is intended to be sold while the remaining half where Late father is Buried will be Left .It's two wives the Deceased had ,First wife had 3 boys,Second wife had one Girl .Both wives left the deceased before His Death .The 3 Boys agreed half should be Sold , Remaining Half with there father's Grave be left while the only Girl from the second wife insisted that The whole Plot should be sold which includes the late man's Grave .The boys are mad and contemplating if truly the Girl is true Daughter of there father ,They insisted only a Bastard Child would Offer for sale the Grave of His Dad.They are even Suggesting a DNA Should be Carried out ,but the Possibility of that I don't know since there Father is already in the Grave about 15 years ago .

las las na to find out via dna. But shit is... Are they all working? To avoid coming back for more money

Like someone said, Africans abi Nigerians attach too much importance to the dead. Imagine during burial ceremony in the south, the family builds a new house and builds a gold casket to bury the dead, someone they didn't even give a care for when they were alive.

In some countries, they don't bury the dead. They cremate them, thus leaving landed properties free for people to do as they wish. Some even spread the ashes on rivers and let the dead go.

You all attach too much sentiments to nonsense in this country.

It seems the op doesn't like his half sister and just want a justification for the hate.

It was a meeting and everyone was supposed to contribute whatever ideas they want.
All of you can't bring out same idea, she's given hers as you guys has given yours... Why do you have to bring it to a public domain? A family meeting for that matter, what even your closest of neighbour isn't supposed to know you make it public seeking strangers validation.

Na overgrown baby adults full this generation.

The whole write up as revealed all the hates you guys have towards your father 2nd wife and her child... This write up has nothing to do with property but a long time suppressed hatreds.

she is a devil.
She will get married someday and happily follow her husband to his house and land then her brothers would be forever be stranded unless God smile on them.

But wait oh... Which tribe are they from?
If they are Igbo she has no mouth what so ever on what happens to the land (unless if the land is not ancestral land)) becauseuld someday get married.

Bro sometimes ehn...u need to be calming down. If he had wanted to display his hatred like you said or whatever you call it. The sister wouldn't have been involved in the meeting despite the fact she's the last child and not from the same mother. Any suppressed hatted would have erupted now the father was dead.

Again, read up carefully he never indicated them from different mothers in the first post. Calm down and read. It was when someone asked, he took time to explain.
The question there is, what kind of response should be given to such a child? Let her know that you can't sell the land that is what he is driving at.

Stop inciting hate, that's bad.
. Oh! My goodness ,May Almighty God bless you for your comment ,Some people are just out to incite more Hatred.

it's not good she has no respect for her dead father she doesn't even understand what a grave means and by the way the father bought the land so he is entitled to rest there.won't blame her come to ibadan that is what is in vogue they sell their fathers house and remove his grave all for the love of the millions they will get..money that will finish smh
