TAKEAWAYS FROM FIRST OFFICIAL MATCH....

Decent game.... Work in progress. Hard fought win.

One thing I noticed is based on this match, Flick is quick to make crucial changes, which is good and doesn't wait till things fall apart right under his nose. He saw Cubarsi has been on a yellow and was the most crucial backbone in defence and was making way more tackles due to the uselessness of Inigo Martinez, and he quickly removed him before causing further damage. Despite being a difficult situation.
Removed Marc Bernal to limit and control the boy's minutes as he knows he's still in early development phase. Bernal is yet to adapt to first team full 90mins football. Not saying he's not up to par, but he somehow tires quickly with the way I noticed he always gasps for breath around 30mins in the first half. So it's very important his playing time is managed till he fully adapts and that's where I praise Flick's foresight.

Marc Casado and Bernal are great together. It's very obvious Casado plays better with Bernal alongside him. Both gems needs to be protected. One thing I noticed is, Casado is very quick to release the ball.... doesn't like holding on to the ball for even a second, which makes him have more ball losses or misplaced passes, but it's good. Shows he's a risk taker. And we need more of that.

Ter Laden will obviously Terrorise us this season. And Inigo Martinez is a calamity waiting to happen. Bro needs to be sold ASAP and this is why I'm annoyed and saddened by Mikayil Faye's imminent departure. No left footed CB again if he goes and something happens to Inigo. Martinez was the face of failure in this match, tons of misplaced and poor passes and continued spamming of long balls that refuse to meet the intended target and instead gifts the ball to the opponents.

It's a match we would have easily won 3-1 or 4-1, but we'd take the win either way. The 3 points is important and we didn't play too shabby.

Flick's substitutions are good to great and mostly addresses issues on the field immediately spotted. That's how you measure a tactician dexterity.

As for Ferran, na God go punish am. Pau Victor is going places and will light up Catalonia.

Not our strongest squad with the absentees, but we made good use of what we had. And the La Masia boys are a joy to watch and renewed hope.
My only issue na this high line, flick obviously cares about attacking, creating multiple chances and scoring as many goals possible.
So he should tell the attackers to always take their chances, because we will concede lots of goals this season.

Flick played Garcia as a DM hmm.

Let's see how it goes sha....

Indigo, Ferran, Lewy, Stergen, Dejong should leave biko.

Also, I heard Gundo "asked" to leave the club and that he's not injured. If he does leave, then the Olmo signing makes perfect sense.

Garnacho own was empty post nah lol but he should be happy, better players missed far bigger chances but that was really awful though.

I am particularly impressed with how Hansi Flick has embraced our academy without any complaints.
The management's planning of the season have been nothing short of disaster. They haven't been able to get anything done at any front.

Sign the players the team needed, no.
Move on the players that are collecting too much salary and offering nothing, no.
Get the club back to 1:1, no.

And to make matters worse, the injury plague that have befallen the squad at the start of the season. As much as 8 players missed yesterday's game with injury or some other reason.

But Hansi Flick has remained positive. Trying the best he can to make the best out of what he has.. Of course it is still too early to know how things will go from here for him and this disjointed squad. But getting your first win in your first official game and a difficult away game, gives you a good platform to build from.

I think that is where Xavi has to learn alot of lessons from as he continues his young coaching career. Xavi already built imaginary profiles and tried to fit our players into it. Reason we had so many mixed results last season and the season before that.

But Flick is adjusting to fit in with what he has on ground and using the academy to maximize the potentials, and he also does not publicly complain about the weakness of the squad. You have to have a manager who publicly believes in the squad and is ready to make do with what he has.

Under Xavi, we were obsessed with the word 'profile'. Who is the right profile? Is he not the wrong player for the profile? It was always about upholding 4-3-3, at all costs, even though you don't have the right players for it.

This is what I learned from yesterday's game. I hope Flick continues like this.

It's good he makes use of the academy.
But relying majorly on academy players isn't the best for me 🙂

Yes, reason I called out the upper mgt for a very poor summer transfer market.

I am merely highlighting how Hansi Flick has not allowed this poor planning by the management to hinder the progress

Roque doesn't fit into any kind of player that should play for Barca. His holdup play is poor, can hardly beat his man, positionally average and feels like every push takes him to the ground. The only thing worth noting about him is his athleticsim and that's not enough.

I'll just like we should cash out on him ASAP before his value tanks and we incure a loss.

The guy hardly connotes quality to me, seeing him actually play. I come begin dey wonder and question my sanity when we were rooting for him to come and replace Lewandowski over a year ago just by watching highlights.😅😭

Bruh, ANY body can look like Pele regen with a few good highlights. 😂😂

Me? I'll grab that €30mn and run. It's however sad how his time came to an abrupt crash. I wish him good luck elsewhere.

Be a conversation for another day

Yeah, Eric is very good presently compared to when he was with us few seasons ago. Girona did him some good.

Anyways, I'm glad we included a buy back clause sef. €30mn is a decent price and quite reasonable if they develop him well and he comes good.

This match isn't in no where our best lineup. So I like the way Flick easily adapted his team to his opponents tactics.

We had missing starting XI players in Gavi, Gundogan, Olmo, Araujo and probably De Jong. That's a lot of quality out of the board.
Then Christensen and Pedri had to come from the bench. So you can see we're not starting with full strength.

That's one thing I'm impressed with him for. Unlike Xavi that waited till our season was almost over before he knew he had to do something about our DM issue to bring Christensen in the position. Xavi too slow for my liking on adaptation.

Flick adapted and made changes to his team almost as soon as he sighted problems and so far, he brought the right people for that game based on the players available to him.
Xavi for telling us nonsense why them no but €60mn Zubimendi for him, na why him no fit perform. That's the thing I hate about Xavi, and he makes excuses and complains and talks too much.
A woeful combination if you ask me.

You could see how our midfield started struggling the moment he removed Marc Bernal cos Casado wasn't interested in holding the ball for more than a second. He corrected that with Eric Garcia playing as our DM and things began to calm.
Had no choice to leave Inigo on the pitch cos we're short of men in CB positions.

Pau Victor on the left showed absolute quality ahead of the nonsense Ferran Torres played and I'm still wondering how that dude walked into the starting lineup. 🤔

Our attack is not as deadly yet. We're missing quality. And should expect some of those in our next or following matches.

Fermin Lopez was absent. Same as Olmo. Those two are attacking threats that can shoot from outside the box and find spaces.
Fermin a specialist in spacious out-of-the-box situations, while Olmo is a more of a close quarters/tight space shooter.
So it's very important we have those profiles of players in our team.

It was glaring we were missing a striker in that game with Lewa dip in performance. It was only a few clutch moments we could get target on goal.
But with these aforementioned players getting into the team dynamics in the next game, our goal reproduction should improve.

Kilishihunter:
With casado and Marc bernal 's superb performances today I think we can surely suspend the need for a DM for now but as for that LW we need somebody there asap before ferran sends me to the doctor

Yeah. I agree. I saw that yesterday. Most likely the reason why we're not bothered about a DM cos it was definitely our priority end of last season.
So I'm thinking most likely Flick told Laporta and co to focus on attacking prospects cos he had two guys for the role already. Anything happens to the two of them at once (which is highly impossible), Gavi would have been back by then. And we see a possibility of Christensen or Garcia filing in the position.

So it's good news for me. Flick seems to be able to easily adapt and read a game and using profiles of players presently in the team to solve pressing issues.

Xavi for wait till them eliminate before he come up with solution to use Garcia in DM role. Just as we saw last season when it was too late before he adopted Chris to the role.
Manager wey no Sabi tactics and reading of game properly and good adaptation, I no too dey rate am.

Three entirely new kids on first team dynamics. We are missing half of our quality. The ones available are also not 100% fit to start matches.

I hope Balde is fine tho. Person wey just dey come back from long term injury na him OkpaNsukka don run start to dey condemn. Cancelo wey useless na him he dey find. Make big game come now, and you'll so hate why you picked Cancelo. I pray he never comes back and City makes it difficult. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

There's a reason only loans are what almost all the top clubs coming for Cancelo wants.

Xavi vex me gon last season.
Person dey play rubbish and no Sabi tactics yet he talks all the goddamn time. Werey still has excuses to boot with "I didn't get who I wanted to sign".

Zubimendi snubbed Liverpool, shey that one means say Slot go begin use that one as excuses if e no fit perform. Xavi loves complains and talks too much and that's one annoying thing about him.

See werey Koeman that year. The same thing.

Don't you notice fans are more forgiving to coaches like Ernesto Valverde and Quiqe Setien? It's cos they rarely talk too much or out of turn. Despite being one of the woeful performers in recent Barca history with great teams.
See Koeman, that one is more of a crybaby and doesn't seem to forget how to complain about anything that has to do with Barca everyday the press gives him the mic. And that's one thing fans hate.

Xavi go blame anything blamable including ref and pitch. Even aside coaching job, he has anger issues, which he needs to work on. Pep no dey collect red card like gala. Na Ronald koeman own worse pass sha🤣🤣

But watin I dey talk be say, make we let Xavi breath since he is no longer the coach. Enough of "if it's Xavi ........."
Let flick perform first. U don't know if you go swear for am las las. I pray it won't happen cause I be barca fan😂😂

You see the game we played yesterday...cancelo will suffer and that wing will be too exposed. Simply put, cancelo is just too lazy and that laziness cost us alot last season.

Cancelo was 80% at fault in the elclasico that dashed our title hopes. Conceded a stupid pen and can't track back in Bellingham's goal

Cancelo was 70% at fault in the loss against psg directly. Conceded a stupid pen and can't track back in Dembele's goal

This and many more happened last season, I just pointed out these examples because they were our most important games of last season and Cancelo cost us in both

Let's just sell him abeg
