@kalonji,
Everyone of us goes away once in a while but its always a good practice to read back posts when you come back. That way you can catch up on a couple of topics that were discussed in your absence.

Back to your question, this has been discussed way back some months. I think peeps in Ghana need minimum 3m dish to get badr 26E or Nilesat.

Hope this helps?

@figment232, just do as Ameboperoo have advised you. With that your strong reciever, you can't watch Dstv for now except if new version of stb update that play Dstv is released. They have blocked the access on strong recievers.

@ figment232, that your reciever will not show any Dstv channel. We were using Dstv in our office before but one faithful day the whole of the Dstv channels on our 69x got scrambled despite that the subscription have not expired. I tried to make the reciever show the channels but it could not and the subscription got wasted. Two weeks after the incident, a friend of mine who was using Dstv reciever (DSD 988i) got all the channel on his reciever scrambled except Africa Magic Yoruba and when he called Dstv customary line, he was told to go and swap his reciever with seven thousand naira. I collected his smart card and inserted it on my  reciever at my house and at our office and it was only showing African Magic Yoruba.

@George_D Thank you very much for your answer , it helps a lot , i will continue my research locally.

Sorry if i ask repeated questions but believe me this thread is has become so huge that if very difficult to follow up, plus all the topics are mixed so its quite difficult to understand sometime if you don't check frequently.

Probably this had been talked before but why do not open a different thread for different topics like any other forums, maybe because the forum doesnt allowed and the servers are too small or the forum its not satellite exclusive, i dont know, but like i said like that is very difficult to follow up and understand things.

But thank you anyway to the enthusiast here who try to help people

I can't but just commend the efforts of people who believed this forum could be revived after the civil war caused by the dongles. I for one completely lost faith in the revival of the forum, permit me to retrieve my words.
I must say that the quality of contributions in the last 3 to 5 pages has been most informative and educating reminiscence of what the forum used to offer.
I also salute the courage of the new folks, let's keep learning together.

@ kalonji, never worry, you will soon understand every topic on satellite technology nairaland. When you are caught up with A.S.A.S, you will be familiar with everything on this thread. I am seeing the syntom in your eyes. For newbie like you to be aiming on badr4/5/6 and nilesat, this shows that you will soon be there.

Yes it has been mentioned times without number but Nigerians being the people we are "Nigerians" are averse to organised way of doing things.

Welcome to the Thread to be on Nairaland.

Happy reading and tracking. cool cool cool cool

@ figment,
i wunt advice u shud do dat if u still intend to have an unmarried smartcard.
If u take d card down dere, they'll only ask dat u go get d new promo or get a single decoder + married card.
Another way round it,is u goin there with a dsd990 decoder, because if those station will show der it will show on ur str.
Note: dnt eva mention strong decoder while u r there,
Best of luck

@figment232
dont allow your premium to waste. call them and tell them to suspend your account until you get a new ds tv decoder to transfer the airtime.

@ALL please i need to get enlightened. i av a strong c band lnb and i want to get arabsat 5a c band frequencies, especially mea beam. wat size of dish must i buy? what does L and R means? please i ask.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Nobody: 11:44am On Dec 10, 2011
Miju_You need at least 1.8m dish for A 5a. L and R is for circular polarisation while H and V is for linear polarisation for C-band satellite.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Pidzo(m): 12:05pm On Dec 10, 2011

Just to add on what Auchs has a said, L and R polarisation will need the dielectric plate inside the LNB while H and V works with no dielectric plate.

@George D

Is there any strong HD decoder with dual view setup?
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 6:51pm On Dec 10, 2011
@figment232,
Apart from the PVR feature, I'm not sure there is a STRONG HD dual view.

However strong has SRT4896 which is SD but also a PVR twin tunner dual view.

You may have to wait a while if you really need the HD version of this.
