Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Lunsat(m): 9:16am On Dec 16, 2011
@All, a question for those who have nabbed AB7: What quality are you getting on sirius 4 (Astra 4a) and w3a and on which TPs (just one TP per sat)?

I want to give AB7 a short this week end. My game plan is as follows:

1. Tweak my KU LNB to maximum quality for sirius 4 and w3a using the quality from you guys who have nabbed AB7 as reference. If I cant achieve this quality then  I will know that probably AB7 is out of reach.

2.  Lock my positioner around AB3  using C band and then concentrate my AB7 KU search within 10 centimeters below that position since AB7 is just 2 degrees below AB3.

How does that sound?
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 10:05am On Dec 16, 2011
@Lunsat,
You're going about it the wrong way. AB7 and Nile 201 are in the same position.

First track NSS7 (22W) using the first tp on your strong decoder. Adjust your dish and lnb and ensure your
signal quality is at maximum 98% then raise your dish up and and slightly to your left (facing east) and observe
your signal bars in the decoder.

Use MBC tp (11938v, 27500sr) to track and you're done.

Thanks George D.

MBC tp (11938v, 27500sr). This MBC is which one, nilesat or NSS 7? I couldnt locate that TP on Lyngsat under AB7 or NSS 7. Maybe I was too fast?

@Lunsat,
Adex is right. MBC is on Nilesat, the same position as AB7 you're trying to track. The diiference is just a few degrees down.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 11:47am On Dec 16, 2011
@Adex,
Keep trying. You'll surely find a buyer eventually.

badaru is recieving over 200 channels already on his 3m fibre in Lagos.

You need to ditch that 2.4m dish and go for something higher.

@ARSELONA1. LIFT ya dish gradually from that w4 (36°e) to 16°e w3c  your LNB SKEW at 8 o clock standing at the back of ya dish with a steady hand move it to the right gradually using this tp 10800 H 30000 or 11024 H 3333 then blindscan.

@all

I was looking at my strong decoder 2day while browsing on my laptop when this tot occurred to me,of connecting d decoder to the laptop,ie using tthe laptop in place of the Television,i felt that since a projector can be conveniently connected to a laptop,every machine with an rf connector could also be aligned with d laptop.My question goes thus, is there a way i can view outputs from d decoder on my laptop? How do i make make d connection wot kind of cable can i use to connected both?

WISHING ALL I FUNFILLED XMAS AND HAPPY NEW YR IN ADVANCE

To all after sunday battle with new 2.4M EUROSTAR PAN DISH at about 9 o 'clock in the morning i manage to track BADR 4 and BADR 6 @ 26 Degrees east using STAR GOLD FUJI LNB and my location is in abidjan in ivory coast.
But HOTBIRD remain my question mark also NILESAT refuse to pop up.
I even MOTORIZED the dish .
Here is the signal strength of the tracking, 11727 H 27500, 75%
11747 V 27500, 73%
11785 H 27500, 70%
11843 H 27500, 65%
11804 H 27500, 70%
12476 V 27500, 68%
12456 H 27500, 53%
12523 V 27500, 50%
12523 H 27500, 49%
12602 V 2960, 49-50%

12341 H 27500, 52%
More TPs and pictures will be posted very soon.
To my surprise is that in the morning the signal is very good while in the evening the signal is very weak so those channels showing in the morning refuse to pop up the evening.
But my goals is to track HOTBIRD and NILESAT , i need more advice , OGA GEORGE D and all the nilesat and hotbird family should come to my rescue.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Nobody: 11:04pm On Dec 18, 2011
@twinsoris
Many questions have been asked on how to track nilesat by people that had find it difficult to track. The only thing I know you need to nail the bird is 1. Make sure that you are using the right dish size for it. 2. Make sure that your dish is perfectly in other more especially if you are using a locally made dish. An important e.g is calculating the focal lenght of the dish and make sure the lnb is at the centre of the dish by making sure the arms suspending the lnb mount(holder) is of the same lenght. 3. make sure that the lnb you use is the right one. 4. Then Make sure your dish is both horizontally plumbed when constructing the mounting pole and that the dish is vertically plumbed after hanging it on the pole. This may take you time but at last you it will save you time and stress especially to balance the dish for maximum signal strenght. I tracked my nilesat with 3m locally made in less than 30mins cos I carefully took those precautions. Finally, to know if the dish is in other, track nss7 to hit a least 97% comfortably. You can go to the nilesat thread for other infos. you need patience to nail the bird.

Thanks alots for your beautiful explanations infact what i figure out is my DISH size hae something to do because i am able to track ALGERIAN channels on ATLANTIC BIRD 3 KU band @ 5 degrees west wit the signal strength of 72% but the 11938 V 27500 is balancing up and down but still RED .

@Twinsoris
for u to hit green on nilesat (11938 v27500)u must improve d quality of your algeria mux on atlantic bird3 ku(11065 h 18086) to at least 80% by tweaking the lnbf. I got the said tp (11065 h 18086) up to 84% b4 taking a shot @ nilesat 101. I got mbc tp up to a quality of 69 - 70% in d morning & night .the signal drops to 67% in d midday.
@Oga Sammu ,you are right my location is closer to d north than i thought,tanx to you now i enjoy nilesat on 1.8m pan dish using prime focus ku lnbf.

@Oga Badaru,did u get jsc sports +5- +10 on nile201 on your 3m fibre.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 9:03am On Dec 19, 2011
@Twinsoris,
What auchs and kinmen2004 told you are all correct. Your dish need to be in perfect alignment before you can track nilesat. For your location in abidjan I'm not sure sure if NSS7 (22w) will make a good reference point but its always advisable to track any DTH satellite and tweak your LNB before proceeding to nilesat or hotbird. Also, depending on your location, some TPs fluctuate in signal quality and strenght between morning and evening so you got to know the right time to track.

My advise is to take a second look at your dish alignment, also verify you LNB focal lenght and give it another shot this weekend.

Twinsoris:

I even MOTORIZED the dish.
check your motorized set -up / dish position ,getting a good signal on badr -26east is not a guarantee that you will receive good signal from any other satellite when using motor,of-course badr-26 east and nilesat- 7 west satellites are not on the same arc.if you are using motorized set-up you must position dish/motor correctly for other satellites to fall into place, before that,try and track nilesat without using motor and see if you can receive any TP on nileast at all.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by obnelly: 2:23pm On Dec 19, 2011
Odilibe,that is right tracking one satellite is different from tracking multi-satellites on motorise.

To all good people in the house.I am sorry for being away for too long though reading through threads. Merry Xmass and a prosperous new year to all.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Adex70(m): 9:13am On Dec 20, 2011
George & the rest merry xmas and happy new year in advance, to add on what odilibe said tracking one bird alone is far defrient from motorising to nail multiple bird, with my motorised 2.4 i can not nail badry 6 but badry 4 is on and nile, hotbird are all receiveable, if i decide to nail badry alone i will adjust the dish to it, so i agree with odilibe that badry is not on thesame polar arc with nile and hot bird. Pls George ur view and opinion is needed on this. We are all learning.
