As a start point the topic of the post misled you especially. There is differnce between GPA(Grade point Average) and CGPA(Cummmulative Grade point average). Hope tis is okay by you?

He probably must have made lots of As and maybe a single B. I am concerned with his overall performance, reflected in his CGPA. And that is the bone of contention.

Let me give you this again. This is how GPAs are graded in most schools in Nigeria.

1 unit=6 points
2units=10points
3units=15 points
4units= 20 points

An A=70%.So, someone who made 90% in a course and his mate who made 70% will be in the same grade of A.

So, if you make an A in a one unit course you get 6 points and so on.

Assuming this guy took 50 courses and made 49 As and a B, then there is possibility that he may graduate with a CGPA of 4.99

I worked on assumptions because i do not know for sure his performances at various levels and CU's style of computation, and the number of courses taken by CU's accounting students.So, i expected that you would provide further insight hence you do not believe he would get a CGPA of 4.9.

Are u saying u can score btw 70 and 100 in a course in a semester where C.A constitute 40, and Exam constitute 60?

If u make a C.A of 35 in a course (which is so so over possible), why cant u score 35 in exams to total 70?

GPA 4.99 is possible but CGPA 4.99 after 8 semesters is impossible even you return GPA of 4.99 every semester or in only two semesters except it's zero unit courses plus the fact the guy in question was a dullard turned brilliant overnight. But if we're discussing CGPA of 4.90, that's pretty much possible.
