U can jailbreak If u can live with a tethered jailbreak whereby if ur iPad goes off for any reason, it won't boot up untill u connect to pc and run an app. If not don't jailbreak

Also how do I restore FaceTime, push notification and YouTube on my i4? Everytin was workin fine until I mistakingly upgraded d baseband last yr and the fone locked. I had to jailbreak and unlock wit gevey sim. evtin works well apart from those 3 i mentioned above. Firmware is 4.2.1. Baseband is 3.10.1

You have been "Pwned!". Try Gevey SIM or Rebel SIM. Call Tumababa or sumi_temi if u need one.

That shd be Japan. Most likely locked to SoftBank Japan. U can install SAM from cydia to activate it since u are already jailbroken. Install SAM, click on utilities, revert lOckdoen to stock, try auto detect, if it doest work, try to select Japan as country, look for SoftBank, select iccid and try again.

Attention 3GS Users - STOP - READ!!

DO NOT install the iPad baseband on the 3GS.

1.) It has been confirmed to permanently damage the built-in radio hardware on newer 3GS models.
2.) There are abnormal signal issues with the iPad baseband while running iOS 5.0.x.
3.) Ultrasn0w has not been updated to work with 5.0.1 at this time anyway.
4.) You cannot revert to any other baseband version once installed - period!
5.) The native GPS functionality will be inoperable.
6.) Restores require custom firmware versions - no stock restore option.

This "solution" had it's time when it was released, (with iOS 4.x.x) but Apple has thwarted this now - in a permanent way.

If you need your iPhone 3GS unlocked with ultrasn0w, sell it and find either a factory unlocked model, or one with baseband version 5.13.04 or lower.

search for the warning from this link. Unfortunately we still cant figure out the particular newer 3GSs that can be affected from just looking at the serial number.

unfortunately the new comers will neva listen,always looking for cheap iphones. A guy called me dat he wanted to unlock an iphone4. i asked him the ios and baseband, he sed 5.0.1 and bb 4.11.08. I asked the name of the carrier under carrier settings on d about page(he was lucky to av one there). he told me 3UK. I told him the only way to unlock it is to pay for the official unlock which is about(170pounds) 45,000 naira. he said i was a thief . how can he unlock a phone he bought for 35K(iphone 4,16gig) with 45k. I'm sure he is enjoying his iphoneipod very well. he is even lucky he has a choice.

"All 3GS after 36 week(SEPT 5 AND ABOVE (including) of 2011 are completely DEAD, when you install iPad baseband on them. 35 week 3GS with 4.3.5 works WELL with iPad baseband, even after downgrading on 4.1. I have several new AT_T 3GS, so i have checked this and this is 100% confirmed. Now it is clear, that Apple changed some hardware part of 3GS after 36 week. So if you have 35 week new 3GS - don't be afraid, downgrade it to 4.1 and install iPad baseband. If it is 36 week or later - forget about ipad baseband"

XX040XXXXXX. THE 3rd,4th AND 5th DIGITS are what represent d date of production. 3rd one is d yr. "0" stands for 2010."1" stands for 2011. 4th and 5th is d week, so the "40" stands for week 40. so "040" means week 40 of 2010( that is around oct4-oct10 2010).

SO WEEK 36 OF 2011 WILL HAVE SERIAL NUMBER THAT LOOKS LIKE XX136XXXXXX. if u want to buy a locked 3gs and they tell u dat u can unlock it, first chect the serial number. If less dan 136, u can unlock, if more than 136 u will kill d fone. u wont even be able to use it as ipod.
