Are u in Abuja??
You people just come online to comment nonsense. I bought almost same quantity of tomatoes on Sunday same as that of op for 1500. I almost thought my seller was cheating me till i priced round the market & discovered his own was even cheaper. Tomatoes is very expensive in Abuja right now.

To think Abuja is in the north where such items should be cheaper. shocked

There is no land in the Southeast. This is like telling Singaporeans to go into agriculture when they have the money to buy from Indonesians, Filipinos and Malaysians.
That's not true! There lots of lands in the east to farm! The problem is attitudinal. Most of the youths there consider farming as condescending and would rather pay through the nose to buy food than farm.

You're d@ft.
It's those who are struggling to eat three square meals that you're advising to give up their rooms or acquire a land to farm what they'll eat right?
And if they convert their room to a tomato farm, where will they grow rice, cassava and beans? Once again you're d@ft. πŸ‘πŸΎ

All these mugus go just steal their parents phone or WiFi begin come show foolishness here. If u no be goat, didn't u read where I said farm what u can farm? Must u grow everything? Comments like this are how you know the problems of Nigeria. The lazy youths who have never experienced the joy of planting something and watching it grow and later eating it fresh from the farm/ garden! Always eager to leap to insults to cover up for their laziness and inadequacy.

Plant what you can first and break this ridiculous dependence on rice that we have now cultivated. When we were young, rice was Sunday food and one other day of the week, now people eat rice everyday, a food that doesn't grow well here and dumped farming altogether and expects their economy to thrive.

Shut up and displaying ridiculous half intelligence in public space!

One should be careful eating stew outside now except for maybe big hotels and eateries because in times like this one can't be too sure.

That's not true! There lots of lands in the east to farm!

The southeast is densely populated. Look at the satellite maps from foreign agencies. To produce enough food for Igbos to consume, there needs to be large swathes of land. Also, the southeast cannot produce all its food. Please check the meaning of comparative advantage. Generally, countries with a large percentage of its population as farmers are poor. Industry and services are the most important aspects of a thriving economy.

The problem is attitudinal. Most of the youths there consider farming as condescending and would rather pay through the nose to buy food than farm.

Nothing wrong with it. So far they have the money to purchase that food, good. Economies that produce those foods have a wealthy customer base. A large land mass Indonesia is happily supplying food to land short-changed, but wealthy Singapore.

This is basic economics.

I know what I mean when I say that our youths now pay so much apathy to farming. I grew up in the village and those days we farmed most of the food we ate. We had enough food then to even sell in the markets. There was no food scarcity as we have it today.

Nowadays, even those in the village don't have enough food let alone sell to those in the city. The youths now prefer riding keke and making smaller income to the riches that abound in our soils.

So, like I posited before, the op the guy quoted was right in her assertion.

It's not your fault that you are poorly educated and unenlightened. It is however your own fault when you choose to remain so. I'll give you 2 words. 'Sack farming.'. Go and look it up and stop making excuses for your laziness and ineptitude.

Eww...!

Does anyone really need to be told this? After this rainy season comes to an end, I will not take anyone who still complains of not having food to eat serious. The only reason anyone should not be farming right now is that they are financially capable to buy their foodstuffs at whatever price it is sold at the market. Anything less than that, go and farm!!!

You guys will just come and yΓ n rubbish on NL just to sound woke. Is it everybody that have the wherewithal to farm? Mugu

When Peter Obi was criticizing the government instead of sharing ideas on how to fix the economy you people were supporting him. Now the repercussions of what unpatriotic elements like Obi did is why the economy is so messed up.

Keep supporting Obi instead of praying for President Bola Tinubu and expect to buy things at a cheaper rate.

Very soon you will be buy one seed of tomatoes for 1k if care is not taken.

May God bless president Bola Tinubu and give him strength to fulfill his renewed hope agenda. This renewed Hope will Favor me and my house hold. Amen

Are you dumb or what? Is your clownish president in Aso Rock dumb to govern until he gets his ideas from Peter Obi to govern the country?
