Mikel Arteta can sign final piece of his Arsenal transfer plan after target 'agrees' exit
Arsenal's new-look squad is really starting to come together after Mikel Arteta's £150million spending spree, but it's unlikely the Gunners will stop there ahead of the January transfer window

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was ridiculed after spending £150million - more than any Premier League manager in the summer transfer window.

But he's the one laughing after the recent sharp turnaround in the Gunners' form.

Arsenal are just six points off the top of the table after their new-look squad started to really gel and put some decent performances together.

Aaron Ramsdale has ousted Bernd Leno in goal, while Martin Odegaard, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Takehiro Tomiyasu have all impressed.

But Arteta isn't done when it comes to rebuilding his squad, and a striker will likely be his next priority. Real Madrid outcast Luka Jovic has been linked with a move to the Emirates before, and it seems Arsenal could reignite their interest in January.

Sorry to him though but I was only reacting to the headline actually since kolasinac is more like a 3rd choice player now and for the headline to went like it read was what I saw astonishing and baffling.

Once again, get well soon kolasinac

Yes the Energy is truly growing among the team and that can be seen in the last 2 matches that Arteta seemed to have gotten his starting Eleven especially with the inclusion of Lacazette who himself possess and showcase the same energy too in the forward line

Inclusion of Laca in d starting Eleven has been the game changer.

Remember last season in d games against Chelsea, Leeds and another team I've forgotten . He plays Laca as CF and flank him with ESR/martinelli and saka.
Laca holds the ball and brings others into d game. I like him cos he offers d details that auba can't give. We scored 3 to 4 beautiful goals in each of those games.

Laca's physicality also makes up for lokonga's frailty.

Absolutely.

I only pray he doesn't change the starting Eleven he seemed to have discovered with Lacazette starting as well because of the reference you made to Lokonga in the midfield in Truth as you are spot on with your observation perfectly

Yes but he hasn't progressed rapidly like Saka and ESR have

Probably maybe it because of his time limitations. He needs to gel with someone in the team immediately he comes on irrespective of the minutes available for him so that he can work out a pattern like Saka and ESR have been doing

After the signings of the summer, I can't argue with Arteta's choice of players. However if I am to say, Jovic shouldn't near the Emirates on an Arsenal shirt.

IMHO, my own opinion oh...we have mismanaged Martinelli and that is my truth. Martinelli's situation is a consequence of a combination of injuries and playing him outside his natural position and the scramble by Arteta to save his job. I will continue to say it that Martinelli is a CF, not a winger/ midfielder, he is a fluid CF. Saka and ESR have thrived because they have played extended minutes in their preferred positions, the case is not the same for Martinelli. Remember when we were playing Saka as a WB? Well, going into his contract negotiations, Saka made it clear that he does not want to play as a WB, he got assurances he will be played in his preferred position and that propelled his growth. How about ESR? the same thing.. Martinelli's confidence has been severely battered and this may just go downhill from here if it is not addressed immediately.

Thanks sir,
I av said it severally,
Martinelli is a CF,
He can beat his man on very short pace and shoot,
But his shot is of no use as a winger cos the post is to far that is why after beating his.man on the wings like twice he looses ideas and crosses to nobody.
I also.said severally that laca is like a false 10. A striker but likes to play deep.
Very good team player that passes the attack well.
For pepe to shine, arteta has to change formation and bring him closer to the 18box where there will be no room to "over dribble" but rather to shoot.
Arteta is still very young in tactics and coaching,
if u give pepe to klopp,
Salah will be childs play or just the same

Like you rightly pointed out, injury has been the bane of Gabriel Martineli

Notwithstanding the above proclamation, He himself has come out to say that he is not a center forward.

That he prefers to operate from the Wing and that means he has to shrug it out with Saka since he is a right winger where Saka operates Best

Once again and like I said before, he needs to gel and fine-tune his game with a particular member of the team once he comes on at any given opportunity so that he can build back his reputation and thus probably carved a nitche for himself so as to get a looking at for the starting Eleven role he so much crave

Every Gunner sees Gabriel Martineli as a center forward but the truth and the funniest reality of the matter is that he himself confessed to prefer the wings to the central position

Gabriel Martinelli's first words as winger completes €6m Arsenal transfer

Arsenal have completed their first signing of the summer.

Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli has signed for the north London side for a fee in the region of £6million.

He becomes Unai Emery's first summer signing, following weeks of speculation surrounding a transfer.

Martinelli is an 18-year-old who has signed from Campeonato Paulista outfit Ituano.

His career began with the Corinthians' futsal team but was able to make the step up to football and signed his first professional contract with Ituano in November 2017.

Speaking to the club's official website, Martinelli said: "I am a player who gives his all at all times, I play as a team and always looking to win games and win trophies.
"It is a dream since I was a child and also my family’s dream for me to be playing in Europe and playing for a big team like Arsenal. I am going to take this opportunity."

And Martinelli will excite the Arsenal fans with his answer to the player that he models his game on.

"I model my game on Cristiano Ronaldo," he added. "He is a player who works hard, pushing himself to the next level. Always in the run for titles and individual trophies.

"I look up to Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar as they are players who can decide games and are very professional, who dedicate themselves to the whole game.

"I know a few [of the Brazilian players who played for Arsenal]. I know Edu, Denilson and I know that they have a lot of history at the club. Edu, in particular, I had a little contact with him at Corinthians as I had a spell there and I know they had a lot of success here but also for the national team. I am going to try to follow the same route."

It is not what the player can see but what the coach can see.
That is why they are called coach.
Henry saw himself as a winger,
Wenger saw a central forward.
Moses saw him himself as a striker/winger , Conte saw a wing-back
Tim Cahill was a midfielder, Moyes made him a striker,
Anthonio currently wastham number 9 was playing right back earlier in his carrier ,
Pirlo moved from , number 10 to number 4 and played his best years there.
The traits for martinelli to thrive at CF is more than that of a winger.

Without mincing words you have referenced quite a handful and I can also add to it but the truth of the matter is that Gabriel Martineli cannot and will never displace Either of Aubameyang and Lacazette from the center forward position for now and ever

When Arsenal is even contemplating bringing in another center forward already rather than hoping for Gabriel Martineli to blossom in that position?

The reality on ground is the fact that Mikel Arteta is under pressure to perform and save his job, so it's no time for a crude trial for a center forward in Gabriel

And again like you rightly said, HENRY was used as a center forward but he thrive mostly from the wings as most of his goals are from the wings of which Martineli can take a cue from

Equally, he himself confessed to have look up to Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar whom he can as well model his game with theirs who also shine from the wings too

Look, it Left for Gabriel Martineli to change his fate and blossom whenever he has the opportunity of coming on onto the pich as my final word on this debate

Besides, didn't somebody earlier or is it even you? (No not yourself that) mentioned that Bukayo Saka stated his preferred position rather than a Wing back that he is sometimes being deployed to play during his contract signing meet

I still repeat this phrase that he needs to gel with someone in the team when he comes on like Saka and ESR are doing. That will help him alot and of course boost his confidence in getting more minutes and probably drift to the central position for striking since his bane now are injuries and the lack of minutes

Above all Nketiah and Flo Balogun are even ahead of him in the pecking order for Arsenal center forward start, so which coach is going to make Gabriel Martineli a center forward ever. He only needs to prove it that he can displace them all put together himself

South Africa Demanding A Replay After Being Cheated Against Ghana (culled)

"We feel very much robbed because it is not an isolated incident of a penalty. There are just a lot of questionable decisions by match officials and we will get an expert to dissect other incidents, so we can make a strong case."

Praying for precedent
South Africa is well aware that the capacity for matches to be replayed does exist. They were forced to replay a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Senegal after the referee was found guilty of match manipulation.

The South Africans had originally beaten Senegal 2-1, with Fifa later concluding that Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey - 'with the sole purpose of facilitating a minimum number of goals to make certain bets successful - clearly took two wrong decisions'.

Fifa lifts lid on fixed South Africa-Senegal 2018 World Cup tie
This included the award of a penalty to Bafana Bafana when Senegal's Kalidou Koulibaly was adjudged to have handled the ball, despite replays showing it had hit his knee.

Fifa took the unusual step of ordering the game to be replayed. South Africa lost 2-0 as Senegal qualified for the World Cup in Russia.

"Of course we are looking at the precedent whereby Fifa ordered us to replay Senegal and we think that if justice needs to be served the same decision should be taken against this Ghana game," added Mothlante.
