My typo mistake and you should know that too. I meant to write 1991 for the official relocation of the FCT.
FOR your continous attachment of your FG to colonial development is mischievous and misleading. There ain't no FG during colonial rule. Colonial government developed IKOYI and VICTORIA ISLAND for their residential requirement, agreed. But they ain't your FG. Colonial government built the AIRPORT, SEAPORT, RAILWAY, ELECTRICITY, TELECOMMUNICATION, gave Lagos BUS TRANSIT, CINEMA, RECREATION FACILITIES, built the current LAGOS MAINLAND LOCAL GOVERNMENT （including YABA）, built some renowned HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, SUPERMARKETs, etc. Don't mix it up, they ain't your FG and they built those things using Lagos revenue.

AND to add, the IKOYI and VICTORIA ISLAND the colonial rule handed over to FG was purely residential. The Broad Street on LAGOS ISLAND and Marina generally was the place being developed for commercial purpose. FG maintained the residential plan too and handed down same template to the state upon leaving for Abuja. Lagos state reviewed the template and made the two places MIXED DEVELOPMENT. So, the places were all left littered with low-rise buildings and bungalow. You should go see the new developments now. As we speak, multiple highrise developments are still ongoing in both of them.
As for BANANA ISLAND, investors only gravitate towards opportunities. The state offers immense opportunities, that's why investors can confidently pull in their resources. it's normal.

If you are a non-Yoruba, when you relocate your investment to Lagos, my advice for you is to stay off the local Lagos Yoruba politics, do not go into illegitimate and criminal business, face your investments, give back to your Lagos host community in form of corporate social responsibility, do not destroy the environment, respect and live at peace with your Yoruba host and watch how Yorubaland will bless you , your family and investment with great returns far beyond your expectations!
