We know that the fingerprints were taken over six years ago and my husband lived in the north of the UK then (over 100 miles away form the area) but to prove he was not there is going to be impossible, we would have better luck in having his biometric data re-done and sent to the uk to be checked by the west midlands police. Do you know where he could do this, he lives in Abuja. Closer would be better as we have little time we only just recived the refusal of entry yesterday but it has a refusal date of the 10.05.12 on it. Many thanks.

If your husband can prove that he was living in the north then and never gave any finger print to midland police then he has a case, you can't give fingerprint by proxy, so if he was not there then he was not there.

He has to state where and when his fingerprint was taken and why it was taken in that appeal paper THEN the BHC will counter his claim with an evidence to prove that he gave his fingerprint to Midland police and why his fingerprint was collected.

The fingerprint is stored in central database that is accessible by immigration or UK law enforcement agencies anywhere, the police or the immigration can check it with hand-held device even on the street.

Thanks that's a great help as I live in the UK I'm going to the police station to try get more info, I will keep you posted.

Omo_Tier1:
It does not matter where you apply. UKBA process certain visas in Abuja and all others in Lagos. So whether you apply in Lagos or Abuja makes no difference. If you go to the website of the Agency that does the application processing on behalf of UKBA in Nigeria, they tell you on there where your visas will be processed. I rather would spend my time making sure I get my documents prepared inline with the high standards and requirement of the UK immigration rules and ensure I use genuine documents than worry about where my application is processed! Whether you submit in Ghana or in Nigeria, if your application falls fouls of the rules, the ECO will deny you the visas! I know people who have applied in Lagos for years and they always get their visas so long as their documents are in order!

So worry not and keep your document intact and fill out the form with consistency in information provided now and in the past and be truthful, honest and sincere in your reasons stated in your application form!

thanks a lot.

Almost all the documents you listed there that shows strong tie to Nigeria is not yours, its your sister's or your daddy, they are not the one travelling, it will be hard for you to convince the ECO that your sister want to spend almost all her saves on you to travel to the UK for a month. Hotel accommodation and flight will take more than half of that money.

You can still try i don't want to discourage you, sometimes ECOs make some strange decisions.

Am submitting my own bankstatemnt which has close to 170k inside it. Am also using virginatlantic which is close to 140,000 sticking to the advise by omotier which am still searching for a hotel which would be within the range of 35-40 ponds per day which means 14 days is close to 145,000naira and other shooping expenses wouldnt cost dat much probably 400 pounds(100,000 naira) summing everything close to 400,000,naira.
About the strong ties, am a student and have letter of référence from my uni, i only have land and shares which are my legacy.

Thanks very much for your advise @justwise because u saying its like a 50% chance am getting it...the other percent belongs to God for prayers.

the info u posted isnt complete and contradictory...is ur sister in the uk?....1 month hotel accomodation and having 1.3m in ur sisters acct doesnt add up..stick to 7days or 10days max...are u working?...whats ur monthly income etc
Even, the main point is that of his own "6 months" bank statement with N170k
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by earthrealm(m): 12:06pm On May 25, 2012
yeah..it really looks bleak..but he can try if he has 21k to spare..a miracle might happen...lets not discourage him its like 70/30...though by reducing his duration to btw 7 to 10days..his chances improve a lil

hello
I am planning to apply for a UK Family visit visa to attend my sister's graduation in July. I work with a Fed. govt. agency(5years) and earn N75,000 naira monthly. I have an account balance of N425,000 and a saving of N250,000 with my agency's co-operative Thrift and credit society. My sister has a balance of 2,300 pound and will be Co-sponsoring my trip. I will be sponsoring the trip with N320,000 and my sister will be sponsoring with N150,000,Total of N470,000 for my trip. Below are the supporting documents I intend to submit.
1.Invitation letter from my sister
2.Copy of my sister's biometric card
3.Copy of my sister's passport bio data page
4.My sister's statement of account
4.Hotel reservation of my stay (14days)
5.A letter from the University stating graduation ceremony details
6.Copy My sister's most recent pay slips.
7.Copy of my Sister's 2012/2013 Council tax bill(proof of address)
8.Letter of introduction from my employer
9.Letter of my appointmemt, confirmation and promotion
10.My Statement of account
11.my most recent pay slips
12.A letter from my agency's co-operative society confirming my saving
13.My co-operative society member's pass book (proof of my saving)
14.Pictures of my sister and I

I was refused a Visiting visa not family visit in 2010, reason was because of my personal and economic circumstances as at the time i applied. since then i have travelled to Dubai and Ghana and my economic circumstance has improved.
What other documents does anyone think i can add to make my application stronger and more convicing? and will my co-operative society member's pass book be enough proof of my saving with my agency's co-operative society?? pls help a sister.

In what currency is the 1.3 million?
If it is in Naira, the onus would be on you to satisfy the visa officer that your sister is willing to sacrifice (huge portion of) her life savings just to sponsor you on a holiday trip

I went to the police station with all the info and I have had a call back form them they are putting me in touch with the fingerprint department who hopefully is able to help. I have also taken advice from 3 solicitors who specialise in immigration law. This fingerprint mix up is not as uncommon as I first thought but it does rule out a stright forward appeal as we have been advised to instruct a barrister and it will take around 7 months to be heard after the application data has been inputted. I spoke to the justice department on 24.05.12 and they were only just inputting data from 20.04.12. I am not waiting to be with my husband for another 8 months so I'm going to exercise my rights to work in another EU country (Spain) and my husband can then apply to join me with a family permit. One solicitor said this would only take a few days. Does anyone know how the process works or how long it will really take, any information would be great?

We will also carry on with the appeal as we want his fingerprints sorted out

At least you are getting some sort of answers, yes appeal takes ages and very frustrating waiting time.

Visit the Spanish embassy website for info about family permit.

Good luck.

@ Justwise; I have never paid any tax from my company earnings, yes i have 2 other people employed apart from my wife but they work on commisions. I plan to spend 400k for the trip(5 days accommodation, flight, feeding and miscelns).
I only pay tax on my salary that is deducted from source. Gross salary is 72k, Net is 67k. Thanks.

That means you can't use your business account or mention that you run a business in your application. Owning a business would have given you a stronger chance of getting a visa because its a strong Tie-to-Nigeria.

Now as a married man with a child earning 67k.a month with 600K in the bank, the ECO will see it as unwise to spend 400k on a trip to the UK in just under 5days, how long will it take you to save that much in Nigeria and of what benefit is the trip to you.. . . if this is a business trip then it makes a lot of sense to spend that much knowing fully well that you stand a chance of recovering that money plus profit.

I don't think you stand a great chance of getting a visa. . . this is just my personal opinion, i could be wrong surely.
