@Soji
Wha? Oh so you actually expected an apology from me? Wait O! I must have missed your apology for trying to make mockery of my innocent post to Grafikdon. I wasnt even serious then. Just trying to keep the thread going. See where its landed you now.
Well, call me names, but that apology? Naah! Cheers anyways.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by Kemjisuper(m): 6:27pm On Mar 15, 2009
@Emmakc
POSER is a 3d software used for posing and animating 3d models & props. Its kinda easy to get the hang of, before attempting other more complex packages like 3dsmax or Maya.

@reactor
Now we know you really are jobless. I could do this all week cos most of my posts are old works. But for you, staying up all night just to produce this is just sad & sick. (and he called me troubled). There's plenty more posts to keep you busy anyway, at least you have a job now. LoL
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by CGKing(m): 11:44am On Mar 17, 2009
LOL! kemji,

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by zPixel(m): 12:10pm On Mar 17, 2009
Now am starting to enjoy the jokes, maybe we should change the name of the forum to 'Art Gallery of jokes'.
@sojioguns
Am in Abuja at the moment, but I'll be in Lagos around early April. Just send me your studio address, I'll pay you a visit.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by CGKing(m): 12:28pm On Mar 17, 2009
Come on guys, it's clear some of us may be
irritated but this is a forum and
all kinds are welcome, humour, criticisms,, like that,
tangible stuff as far as they are not based on deceit.

Contrary to what some think, People have the right to comment
on any work of art as they see fit. It has nothing to do with someone being your child
or brother or whatever. It is only Nigerians that get personal in these kinds of discussions.
And "separate the art from the artist, " what kind of wisdom is that? Do you separate the
"thief" from his,, you know, , "thiefery"

My nigga Kemji,
I really like your renders, they are colourful and sharp.
There's nothing wrong with using POSER for your art, really,
whatever works for you in expressing yoursefl is fine.

Only, i am not sure it will get you anywhere in the now
very competitive 3d world. The world is talking of zbrush and
the likes , and you're doing Poser?? Like would you employ
a professional artist who only knows Mircosoft Publisher?
You just gotta learn to see the angel in the stone. Gotta learn
ta pick from pple's comeents

@Annekix,

I have never seen a humility like yours before and I am
really touched. I dont know how you may rate me,
but i think i can and will be happy to help you in the 3d thingys.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by Kemjisuper(m): 1:51pm On Mar 17, 2009
@CGKing
Yeah, I like your spirit. And thanks too for the quiet advice in 3d (as opposed to some really annoying ones I've been hit with). I agree that POSER is not the Ultimate 3d software, but why does everyone seem to have a problem with my using it for a start as a beginner? undecided I know every computer guru once had a problem with booting up a pc, at least once in his/her life!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a software enthusiast and apart from POSER, I have 3dsmax9, CINEMA4d, BRYCE 5.5, Google Sketchup on my system at the moment and I've experimented with them all. So far, POSER is the most likely to use in kick-starting my 3d.

Different strokes for different folks, that's why some other software may be better for someone else. So nobody can impose any on me. It's not mere pride, its more of being focused and un-intimidated! cool

Anyways, back to the thread, can we see some other artworks besides mine? I'm feeling like it's my thread but it's not undecided
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by CGKing(m): 2:53pm On Mar 17, 2009
Well you gotta admit, you are enjoying the attention.
Dont worry, you would loose it so fast, your head will spin. grin

Anyway, there is something in all of this you need to get. This may be
a little startling but I think everyone is being
patient with you. honestly. That is what you have failed to see
but you seem to be feeling cool just running in the wrong direction.

You see, its like, this is a room, and we are all here at a LEVEL, communicating
in a level of language, checking out each others stuff and along comes
this guy speaking one goo goo ta ta language. Its a distraction. its
like you are in the wrong room, So peeps here are trying to get you into
the game but you keep happily and defiantly talking away without really
listening to what they could be meaning. You have to forgive people but
it could be annoying and folks cant help it.

In addition to that, we all want the imput of all those nigerians who are
really great in this, there are still many out there, hiding, watching us
all.

Now the truth is we need this forum to not seem like a joke so they could come in.
It could really be a blessing to some of us you know, so we gotta keep
the forum sacrosanct, respected, and yet full "a" fun

So ideally, if you on you own started a thread that said "Hey 3d for beginners" or
"POSER specialists here", you can trust that no one would get up in your mix
and you can enjoy your life as long as you want.

Pls, i dont mean any harm at all, just saying what I think.
Among artistis, art is supposed to inspire and challenge.
If your stuff doesnt appeal, then something is wrong because
it MUST appeal.

Why would you want people to puke at your work inside
but give you the thumbs outwardly? Wouldnt you rather have
them tell you the truth? So my guy this is how i see it.

Kemjisuper:

staying up all night just to produce this is just sad & sick.

thank God not everyone is ignorant. at least the posts do carry time tags so even if i was like you and did nothing but sit on my computer and do nothing but press refresh till a new post comes up so u can reply, that makes less than an hour to do a cheap face replacement.

as been mentioned to you you are arrogant over nothing. you practically made enemies with just about everyone who tried to give you some good advice. you act like you are the only one who has used poser before or others have something to loose by you using it. you seem to forget there have been countless crappy stuff here before and no one has lashed at anyone bout that. u remember the cinema 4d thread. it shud'nt hav been created in the first place but it was and it was filled with nothing but crappy geometric shapes with some reflective materials. did you hear anyone lashing at them?
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by xothermik(m): 5:02pm On Mar 17, 2009
@kemji.
you know poser could be a great software if you use it properly. ive seen people do great stuff with it. u just gotta b more creative. i originally knew you as a photoshop geek. i dont know why you are not utilising that skill with poser to create breathtaking stuff. here's an example with your canibal guy a world i created in photoshop with some new brushes i got courtesy a friend who did some work on my p.c and different techniques and blending tricks. in fact the first time i heard of poser was on a website where a certain photoshop guru made some marvelous designs using models from poser. might not be ideal for full time animation and modeling but u can still find a dozen uses for it.

@Xmother
Nice concept! To be frank, you're the first person so far to advice on interfacing POSER with other great softwares. Everyone else is like 'leave it and do something better with your life!' '

@CGKing
Long speech. Pls summarise next time and possibly add a graphic.

@All
Better keep the advices for Kemjisuper rolling in - since he just cant be ignored! Everyone wants a piece, good or bad. There's only one of me to go round so bear it!

@reactor
I think this whole 2D/3D thing should all be abstract images and not a thing to tarnish people images or personality. How would you feel if your actual pictures are cartooned and posted everywhere on the streets for gesture. I see this whole thing as a not being tolerable in here.

One thing I ask of you and demand of you is for you to edit those 2d/3d images bearing defaced image of an actual personality in the forum. Edit them asap and desist from using images of people in the forum. You can always make new faces of people from your creative library. If you are tired or can't work out a face, yours could serve and not any member in here.

You are warned "reactor" and I'm waiting for your immediate action.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by OKX(m): 12:20pm On Mar 18, 2009
@ Omnipotens
sure, ur the moderator- so u r within ur limits in ur request.
however, if u are to step into this particular issue, then u should have done so way back! way b4 things got this embarrassing.

theres no law against cartooning ppl, practically every notable personality including nigeria's president has had that done to his image.
(so, in that, kemji shares his fate with royalty. lol)
do u forbid caricaturing celebrities as well?

besides the pix have been posted already, wot u want him 2 do? and how does editing it solve anything?

the point here is mutual respect, that is what u have to enforce, if u can- and not dish arbitrary orders!
others, beside reactor have crossed the line too in various ways- so pls, address everyone or not at all!

guys, this is simply an art gallery! and i mean well.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by OmniPotens(m): 12:45pm On Mar 18, 2009
It's fun to you probably because it's never your image been used here. Why not post your image and ask them to make good use of it in their cartoon works. So it is better when people are fighting each other with their posts right? You prefer it better and fun that way.

Well, to cut the whole thing here short, OKX, post your images for all wishing to do some 2d/3d work to use. I think that settles the whole thing. I still stand on him changing the face of the image used there. Preserve people's personality for them unless when they permit you to use them. You just meant yours could be used so provide them and let them be used. Why didn't he go for gamine's pic? What was he thinking about? He skipped that and went straight to Kemji. Should we call that jealousy? I side no one here but just want the thread cleaned up and free from any anger or fighting.

I still maintain what I've said earlier.

@Moderator
Thanks for stepping in to stop some ugly practices brewing up here.

@OKX
I've never witnessed people being caricatured along with their works on the graphics section. And for the records, I'm not a huge personality - yet! wink Only God knows where @reactor got those pictures he used in distorting my post, as I don't have a personal picture on my Nairaland profile. Of course I didn't go researching his images to get a retaliation (not that I can't) because it would go against my quest to inspire other graphics newbies like me.

@Sojioguns
No need telling us your other favourite forums cos we all have those too. I'm not trying to kill Nairaland, or make it better. I'm only trying to learn from the people I am inspired by. I never would have met this bunch of diverse people anonymously if it weren't for Nairaland and yeah, made a lil surprise cash on the side too. Maybe my only mistake is answering those who DON't inspire me, or those who are jealous of whatever I don't know.

All the same, I'll keep doing what I do, it has helped me grow and improve over the years. Can't stop now! cool
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by slimworks: 2:04pm On Mar 18, 2009
The problem i have seen in most nigerian 3D graphic artist is that we dont know why or how and we dont improvise, poser is a 3D character animation software designed to reduce the stress of character modeling AND CHARACTER ANIMATION ,it's not bad to model characters and rigg but we are in the market of creativity, and production time is a killer, i can use poser charaters that i have modified and u wont be able differentiate though experts like grafikdon and the rest would catch me but the idea is to combine all this softwares in a way that will produce efficiency,
for example poser pro has a plugin that enables poser files to be opened in maya 8.5 up, 3D max and cinema 4D because poser is not good for environment modeling autodesk and maxon decided to collab with smith & micro, in short let me lay it out for u guys and save u people lagging behind ur foreighn counter parts,

POSER, 3D CHARACTER ANIMATION

3DMAX, 3D DESIGN, MODELING AND ANIMATION

PHOTOSHOP, TEXTURING & PICTURE EDITING

AFTER EFFECTS, COMPOSITING

VUE, 3D ENVIRONMENT DESIGNS

REAL FLOW, LIQUID & GAS SIMULATIONS

i dont use max in fact i dont know how to use max but i use cinema 4D 11, and loving it, its so powerful u'll have to try it, u guys should compliment each other not antagonise,

@Slimworks
I think I've just found my new best friend on Nairaland. Pls preach on about diversity. Let's stop re-inventing the wheel! Let's stop criticizing what software people use to design and talk about the overall design itself.

@All
If you hear that Shrek was done with POSER (I know it wasn't sha) would we run mad? POSER makes it easier to make up time with 3d modeling & animations. If I know of another software which makes it even easier than POSER I swear I'll dig into it. It doesn't make you lazy, it gives more time for more creativity.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by reactor: 3:55pm On Mar 18, 2009
@slimworks
so that gives u the right to post your works aside other peoples works that do things the hard way with your poser stuff and even saying you can do better? or posting the same things over and over again in several other threads that it has no relevance with. are you new here? please dont insult us. there are only a few of us that use less than at least 3 applications.some of us use much much more. its called pipeline.you will hav to go through several threads and pages if ur to understand this.dont just conclude on recent posts.

@kemji. i gess i shud create a new login and say poser is the best software in the world jus so you can call me your new best friend.i bet it will work.

why are you thinking in 2d? you think the softwares animation studios use is just some dumb guys call. its not by accident. its softwares that have the capability to deliver the requirements. mind you ease of use (in proportion to capability)is one of the qualities that mad apps like maya, max etc a success.it they used poser to do shrek then it will be because it can deliver. not because of kemji or the name or what the graphic guys in nairaland think of it.the truth is nothing good will ever come easy. poser has its place in graphics world. but it can never be for top notch animation. at least until they upgrade and develop it much further. some years age z brush was not even on the scene. today its in just about every major hollywod and animation studio you can name. you cannot even use z brush to animate or do a lot of things things. but what it does it does it better than any other. i will tell you again if you choose to use poser or use the easy stuff its your call. just dont expect to make history even in your local government. NOTHING GOOD COMES EASY.
