@Coogar, i don't really rate Carrick, if any two of Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher will be in midfield then Scholes will do a better job than Carrick anyday, albeit i dont see why these guys should be starting week in week out ahead of our youth anyway {the major reason Paul Pogba left}, its just not fair. I don't remember Anderson having a bad game this season so far, yet he has been relegated to the bench after our third game or so. Anderson is known to tire towards the last 15 or so minutes, an impact sub of Scholes or Carrick can be brought in. Giggs *may* only be allowed to feature in the League Cup, as i believe players like Lingard, Tunnicliffe should be allowed to grow. Infact Giggs should be forced into retirement whether he likes it or not! I hope Fergie hands over at the end of this season as well, taking with him his assistants.

There he is "Micky so fine".

Welbeck thinking "really Silvestre. We are skint, thank God I got my dough quick".

i rate carrick's defensive nous.....he doesn't offer much going forward these days but he's the best in a 3-man midfield or a 2-man midfield where his partner is willing to help reduce the overload! scholes is too weak for that these days and cleverson are too attack-minded to really provide a shield for the back four!! the only solution in ma opinion is cleverson - we are not going to keep cleansheets but we would outscore any opponent!
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 9:06pm On Oct 01, 2012
@monte hahahaha rtf @coogar i quite agree, tho a fit defence will improve chances of a clean sheet if Clev Ander become first choice. A MOBILE dm wont do us harm as well, Carrick is mr. static

I also read a fergie interview on manutd.com revealing that carrick & giggs caught virus hence being unable to travel, & that Anderson was unfortunate not to be selected in the first team because he has done nothing wrong this season but he 'fergie' still thinks Scholes is a great player. *seems this arrogant chap have learnt nothing afterall* SMP

Ryan Giggs completed just 5 passes in 45 minutes against Tottenham.
How is that even possible? undecided

I told you anything you get from Giggs these days is a bonus! That he was able to make 5 passes sef e try I look around Europe and I don't see any top club parading a 39 year old in midfield! Fergie cannot possibly be blind to this
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 9:48pm On Oct 02, 2012
another cleverson victory.....that old gum-chewing manager would play scholes/giggs again in the weekend against the barcodes and we would get another shitty performance!
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 9:49pm On Oct 02, 2012
Johnny Evans should never wear a United jersey again, ever.
The boy is a triple disgrace.
How Evra remains captain is also a mystery.

United to go trophiless this season.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 9:55pm On Oct 02, 2012
evans just got back from injury - he is not too sharp but he would get better as time wears on! evra was the culprit of the goal we conceded! he shoulda been tighter to the crosser of the ball!
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MrTA(m): 10:03pm On Oct 02, 2012
We made that harder than it should have been. Good win all the same. A few points.

1) DDG needs to be our number one. No more chopping and changing keepers. DDG makes the big saves, sure he might flap a little but he'll only get better with experience. Just give the kid a run in the side.

2) Defence are not on the same wavelength at all. injuries haven't helped but Rafa and Evra are exposing Rio's now apparent lack of pace too much. Needs a lot of work. I'm not looking forward to facing Demba Ba at the weekend. embarassed

3)We badly need a top defensive midfielder its not even funny any more. Need to find one this January otherwise we're just going to write off the season as another trophy-less season.

4) We could do worse than get Gary Neville as Fergie's number 2. I know he wouldn't be a yes man and he would actually challenge SAF.

^^^ i also think the Ferguson dynasty is coming to a crashing end. The earlier he respectfully steps down, the better for his legacy, & Manchester United as a brand
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 10:13pm On Oct 02, 2012
At this rate we might need to sign Mikael Silvestre...he cant be any worse than Evra at LB
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:31pm On Oct 02, 2012
Very pleased. We played a park the bus side, who packed 9-10 men behind the ball virtually the entire 90 mins. To their credit though they did make meaningful attempts at counterattacking rather than just hoofing it. We were patient, didn't lose composure and shape and shot down their counter efforts quickly. You never really look fancy in games such as that.

Rafael keeps impressing as his stamina and fitness have clearly improved. Meanwhile Ando still seems to struggle toward the end of games, despite a rest over the weekend. Fletcher was solid considering he is working his way back from a serious and lengthy lay-off. Evra is big problem and I really don't what more can be said. He now gets beaten by just any winger its disgusting.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 10:44pm On Oct 02, 2012
Mr TA,
Noted points.
I always think Rafael and Evra expose the CBs when they make their mad dash forward and they don't defend enough for me.Its this over-reliance in creating from the wings as against centrally that keeps undoing us.

Everybody knows at some point in the game Evra is going to get caught out of position (and his jogging back was after being left for dead was actually funny to me), but Evans' remedying the situation was criminal.
Not only was he slow to cover but he was also ball-watching and forgot he had a man behind him.The pass made him look foolish.
I've given up on the sod.If Fergie let Piqué go because of this guy then it means he has been losing it slowly since 2008.How come you're not willing to give Vidic the same benefit of the doubt when he came back from a more serious injury after being sidelined for 5 months, but you are ready to excuse a younger Evans who got injured at the tail-end of last season?

that was evra's fault - he should be dealing with his marker much better!
stop the source of the cross - i remember my coach was always particular about that bit in my college days. the moment you allow crosses in, then expect trouble! strikers would always be sharper to the ball than the defenders cos the defenders are running towards their own goal!

jonny evans did quite well - he made some telling blocks and interceptions! evra was the iscariot on the flank! he is good going forward but rubbish when tracking back! he doesn't even run again to rectify his mistakes - he just jogs back like he can't be bothered! i think buttner should start against newcastle!

I thought I was the only one that noticed that.

You cant blame Evans for that goal...it was simply a fantastic movement by the striker...dummied his run then pulled back.
Evans had to cover the front post...if you look at the replay again you will see that he quickly had a glance at the striker to check his position but got done by a nice movement.

Evra has been a liability since 2009.So when the guy flew by him I wasn't surprised.
Evans was clearly shown ball-watching after Evra was left in the dumps. Agreed he may have had little choice but he should have more been alert when that first diagonal ball was flighted to anticipate the danger.Instead he waited till Evra was skinned like a lizard (that he is).

The only thing Evans might have done wrong was that the gap between him and Evra was too wide before the initial move started but he had to focus on the danger at hand at that time. He has to do his own job first before thinking about Evra. Evra is not a baby that his fellowm defenders should be cleaning up his mess.

As soon as that touch beat Evra, the defence was in no man's land.
Evra single-handedly cost us at least 17 goals last season, this season he has cost us 4/5.
At this rate, he'll cost the team about 30 goals.

make una leave evra alone jare - i know he can be a Arrow but we don't offer him any sorta protection as well. all the united players who we put ahead of evra all live drifting inside and leaving evra exposed. young, welbeck, nani, rooney, giggs! none of these guys stretches the play or stay on the touchline(like valencia) so it's a massive task for evra not to make errors!

Not so sure i agree with you completely.
When he slips in the box a la Southampton, or Gareth Bale races past him like he wasn't there, the fella was simply incompetent.
Even if you put two left wingers in front of him, the dolt will bomb further than the two combined and start jogging back like he was in a marathon.

by the way coogar, i'd take a shitty Rooney on his worst day.
United's soul is Wayne Rooney.

the southampton slip can happen to anyone - that cross shouldn't have been allowed to float in either. had evra not slipped, it would have taken a magnificent save from lindegaard to prevent a goal cos the scorer there woulda outjumped evra anyways! it was poor defending from where the cross came from!

he has aged considerably in the last few years - our tactical approach is also culpable! we leave a lot to evra on that left flank! he patrols it singlehandedly offensively and defensively and at his age, we are asking a lot from him!

by the way coogar, i'd take a shitty Rooney on his worst day.
United's soul is Wayne Rooney.

rooney's bottom level is the worst in the whole squad!
on rooney's day he can be as devastating as messi/ronaldo but on his worst days, rooney would make you go hypertensive. simple tasks like trapping a ball and making a 2 yard pass become difficult! you won't see such in nani, evra, rio, anderson or even young rafael!
