coogar: codedguy, e don do naWe need minimum of 2 top CB to pair with Evans. All our CBs yesterday should be backup. Our wingbacks should be taken over by our fullbacks. We should get also get 2 top midfielders and we should be set. |

codedguy1: he will get it right - he needs few additions but our squad is good enough to compete for the title.
united's philosophy has never been throwing money at every problem. it's about bringing youth players through with few additions of mercenary players. the last squad that won in europe for us had brown, o'shea, saha, js park, etc in it. the squad was hardly scary too.
we just need to get players loyal to the cause. vidic & evra weren't marquee players when we bought them but they gave it their all. it's about the heart & the determination. are our players doing enough to even wear the red shirt? the big players are letting us down. wanyama has destroyed gerrard in the game i am watching as we speak & he costs about 10% of gerrard's value. if you compare the united team that won the treble to the top teams in europe in 98/99, we were the most inferior of the lot!
we have 2 of the top 4 highest earners in the football world. understandably, one of them was mostly injured & unfit for most of the last season, the other is just useless and not worth the hype or the money spent on him. there's kagawa, hernandez, rafael, mata, nani & herrera. you can hardly say these aren't top class players in their own rights. surely, we need experience in the defence & one marquee signing in the black hole we call the midfield and that's it.
LVG will get it right......but he needs to start telling the fat scouser to shape up or get benched. there's no way a fat scouser should be earning the best salary in world football & yet producing the effort of a second division striker in afghanistan league. |

One 'marquee signing' in midfield? Isn't that what Herrera was supposed to be? Or doesn't £29m get you a 'marquee' signing these days? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 3:58pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
debosky: One 'marquee signing' in midfield? Isn't that what Herrera was supposed to be? Or doesn't £29m get you a 'marquee' signing these days? and yet you got santi, ozil & alexi in your own midfield in the last 2 years. how come you have 3 marquee signings in yours and united can't even have 2 in theirs? d-ebola, mind yourself o! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by debosky(m): 4:14pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
Santi is now a marquee signing? A £16m player from Malaga that the phat one from Chelski was insulting from pillar to post? If Santi is a Marquee signing, you already have yours in Fellaini who cost nearly twice what Santi did. Ozil I'll accept as marquee, but Alexis is more of a forward IMO, and you already have marquee forwards in Rooney and RVP. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 4:26pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
debosky: Santi is now a marquee signing? A £16m player from Malaga that the phat one from Chelski was insulting from pillar to post? wasn't he your highest outlay on a midfielder when he was bought? not even arshavin cost as much so as far as arsenal's little budget are concerned, santi was a marquee signing....
our budget differs united are thrice as big as arsenal so the value won't always hold the same weight. united haven't invested in their midfield since 2007. this is 2014, you will agree that department of their team needs "renovation".
alexis na midfielder jare.......in the mould of david silva, nasri, ozil, kagawa or mata. even your FPL recognises him as a midfielder. fact remains the midfield has been united's blind spot for aeons & they need to pump funds into their midfield. if we spend £100m on our midfield, it won't be excessive. |

elampiro: Bros i think you need to calm down. Practically everybody here has disagreed with Coogar at one point or the other. There is only one regular here who agrees with everything Coogar says, so you are very mistaken in your view that people just blindly follow opinions here. The only difference is you appear to take the football debates too personal maybe because you are the only one here who equals Coogar in NL stamina and determination to win an argument. Dadehmola,Ruudie,Chamotex,Montelik,MrTA,Nihilist,Dayokanu,Ibime e.t.c have had several arguments with Coogar over the years and some of them bloody.........THERE IS NO ILLUMINATI here , it is a figment of your imagination 4 Likes |

afrodoc: I think elampiro's frustration stems from the fact that he always appears to be a one-man-mopol during those arguments with coogar. Elampiro, Could this be an indirect way of you soliciting support?? 2 Likes |

coogar: I know LvG must have been personally embarrassed by losing that first game. It would have jolted him and I know he will react. His experienced won't make him panick anyways. We need to see those few additions now. coogar: I agree! We need players who might also be used to this system, they will help our present defenders better understand the system. 98/99 is a long time. Things have changed oo. coogar: Yes we need experience in the defence and Midfield and am optimistic LvG will address it. I just want to say that when quality is surrounded by quality it only leads to success. When the bulk of the team is quality it will improve the likes of young new players being blooded in. When one has too many average players that pretend to be quality because they manage to play for united its a disaster, young players will struggle and and quality will drop. I wonder why Madrid and Barca always try to break the bank just to make sure the quality in their team is 80%.it only helps the supposedly young potential players they bring in. Bayerns buys everything that's is exceptional in their league just to make sure they stay top. coogar: I am actually scared of agreeing with you on this again because on pea-sized brained billygoat in Edo state will assume that's the official position of everybody in the thread. |

@coogar What is LVG going to do about Shinji Kagawa? Is the lad part of his plans? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 5:01pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
Dadehmola: LOL On their Rooney debate i have always said they are both wrong. Rooney is not as good as Elampiro thinks and he is not as bad as Coogar makes him out to be. It is not a lie that Rooney's first touch is poor for a player of his status and his short passing is at times horrible. The final nail in Rooney's coffin is the fact that Rooney peaked at 20yrs of age. HOWEVER Rooney is not the origin of ALL PROBLEMS in this team and there are many other problems and problem players in this team, just that all of us here have different opinions as to who those players are. If Elampiro needs support all he needs to do is ask nicely,he should just not count on me in any Valencia argument |

@coogar&co What is LVG going to do about Shinji Kagawa? Is the lad part of his plans? Or he would remain in the fringes of this united squad like last season? #COYG |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 5:02pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
codedguy1: actually, you are right..... some school of thoughts actually believe united should be spending as much as barca/madrid/bayern. ed woodward has told us our coffers is filled with money and so we should spend. arsenal bought ozil at £42m. barca got suarez for £75m, madrid signed bale @ £86m. united should be signing players within this bracket as well. where is the £750m chevrolet paid? van gaal should get vidal, cudrado and blind asap! if it's possible, we should get vlaar too. i have come to realise it's almost impossible for us to have fit players. it's going to be a long hard season, we need numbers in our squad. we cannot compete with squads like this... www.nairaland.com/attachments/1633346_image_jpeg9f360c5ab7736510df54c882e9dbf188 |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by raumdeuter: 5:24pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
coogar: I can wager that everyone of the past 5 seasons you have spent more on purchases than Bayern. Abi no be money you spend on Mata, RvP, Faillaini Shaw, Herrera, De Gea, Young etc? Maybe your signings have been wacked which would be another argument but saying you dont spend as much as Bayern is false That didnt stop Bayern from doing better than you 4 of the past 5 seasons in the CL |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 5:26pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
coogar: I would score Elampiro 3/10 and you 4/10 in this issue. It detracts from the more serious problems in the team, not like NL has any say in how the club is run though. However if the board and management view the problem like either of you then all United fans are in trouble. Rooney is not the main cause of all United's troubles neither is he the panacea |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:28pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
afrodoc: They may disagree with Coogar on a number of issues, but when post match analysis starts, they line up behind Coogar against Rooney. I am not referring to everybody. There are constant set of people doing this. Did you remember when Rooney gave a 5 star performance against Leverkusen? What happened? It looks to me now, they are RVP loyalists too. Rooney scapegoat. RVP sacred cow. They are the ayagayagayagayos. They know themselves. I know about four people who immediately enter into their elements when there is a single (chekere) reason to criticize Rooney. When Rooney scored two against West Ham, one from 57 yards, they still look for a way to flaw him. So what's the thread about? Sentiments? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 5:31pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
raumdeuter: thunder fire you.... when did united spend £40m on a defensive midfielder like javi martinez? then you have bought lewandowski, goetze, robbery, thiago, etc. afrodoc: rooney is the only problem we have. if we have a goal machine in the attack, we would have won the game against swansea. rooney had 6 attempts at goal, only one went in. compare that to sturridge today, sterling, ramsey, etc? how many chances should a striker like rooney get to score a hatrick? 21? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 5:34pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
elampiro: Who are these people. Coogar is one and Gustavo appears to have noticed another in Starboard . So who are the remaining 2? Because when you start casting aspersions on some people who you do not name it seems like you are casting aspersions on all. |

coogar: When has Bayern spent 30m on an 18yr old Left Back like Shaw? Why not list the total amount you have spent and the total amount Bayern has in ANY season and lets compare |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:38pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
Afrodoc what makes Rooney short passes poor? You have also bought into that fallacy? Rooney gets lots of assists from short passes. His short passes makes it possible for Valencia and Welbeck to come one vs one with the goalkeeper many times. When we had a good run last season during Christmas, his short passes bailed us out when he played the number 10 but decided to drop very deep. We may have one or few off matches. RVP, Mata, Kagawa, Chicha have similar problems. But Rooney is more adventurous with his passes, whether short or long. Anyway your opinion. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:44pm On Aug 17, 2014 |
afrodoc: I beg don't mind him. If we are to go by that logic, Ronaldo was the worst player in te world cup. He made the highest attempts at goal. Not to mention he missed the highest number of CCC in the world cup in just three games. Stats are only pulled out when they don't favour Rooney. By December, no body will hear about this particular stat again. Another one will be searched out. |

So you are the only person God has given the gift of original thought? It just shows your level of enlightenment(or lack of it). |
