your too hypersensitive. abeg person no fit respond again to topic,  think my first post adressed the question asked with no insult, or should my parents ask for a refund of my school fees cos maybe i'm not reading right - damn i always knew i was borderline dyslexic  embarassed

so that i can move on and go to sleep, to answer the OP my answer is no!!!
Family / Re: Would You Send Your Elderly Parent Back To Nigeria? by ada24: 1:33am On Sep 16, 2010
to start throwing insults at someone with a difference of opinion shows why u are a mensa member.

you made a point about ur gran being in her 80s and other old folk - myself and others tried to point out AN AVERAGE and now i'm ignorant? anyway i then tried to use another stat that someone else mentioned and u decide to pick my post to call me names - hmmmmmm i really do wonder for our people.

if ur gran is in her 80s not everyone lives to that grand old age and if some women don't die during childbirth does not mean that nigeria is not the 2nd worse place in the world to give birth - do u kind of get the point i'm trying to make? i know a simple mind like my own can't compete with your own mensa brain but i'm hoping its a bit clear now.

why nigerians feel the need to insult those that have a diff opinion is beyond me but i guess the level of progress made in our country tells me why this is so.

Family / Re: Would You Send Your Elderly Parent Back To Nigeria? by ada24: 6:17pm On Sep 15, 2010
i don't know what part of average people don't get?

so cos not everyone dies in childbirth the stats that say nigeria has the 2nd highest maternal mortality rate IN THE WORLD are wrong.

abeg - when defending nigeria please defend the defendable we all know that the healthcare system leaves a lot to be desired!!
Family / Re: Would You Send Your Elderly Parent Back To Nigeria? by ada24: 5:24pm On Sep 15, 2010
i would not send her back home. healthcare in nigeria is not up to par, for those that want to insult me for saying that go ahead.

i have been insulted on NL b4 cos of something like this but the truth needs to be told - if ur mum should need emergency care at 3am will an ambulance come and pick her without you "dropping"??

u talk of security - at least here in the UK she can go for a walk in the park for 40mins to get some excersise - where is she walking to in nigeria without mo po.

lets get real about that romance - if you have a chronic illness and u have access to free healthcare and good healthcare what in ur right mind will take u back to naija - even the sinking rich leave nigeria and get check ups abroad.

i'm assuming a 350k house must have more than one room - why not rent out a room and use the money to hire a nurse or live in carer for her. just my 2 cents

watch this video, immunization is a fraud,
an insult to nature
our bodies are complex systems that can stand against any disease.they create higher strains of germs, viruses and diseases and they make us take vaccines, these vaccines have been responsible for deaths of millions, you dont get to hear about them, bcoz they control what you hear in the media.

there is a serious crisis about world population and they have to reduce it drastically.

Simple cure to cholera is using lemon and lime in water ,why dont talk about hygine, why are they emphaing monre on VACCINES,VACCINES

when avian flu was ravaging usa, nobody talked about that the simple cure to it was natural garlic, but all we ehard was vaccines, vaccines .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP_kei648oI

ok - i hope u didn't have any vaccinations when u were born. i guess we should let all babies born from now on to stop being vaccinated - i guess things like measles, mumps and rubella, TB, meningitis, polio, yellow fever, etc are not real and don't kill babies!!!

i think the reason they are talking about vaccines is cos lets be honest its not like the government are going to start building social housing for the affected people with adequate sanitation, how do u educate people who don't even have a toilet in their home about water hygine
Career / Re: Nigerian Degrees And Work Experience Are Disregarded In America. Why? by ada24: 7:23am On Sep 09, 2010
having had experience of UK and nigerian uni systems trust me there are many reasons why back home degrees are disregarded. where does one start, cheating, lecturers passing u for buying their texts books and handouts, bribing ur way to good grades, sleeping ur way to good grades. I was in Nigeria recently and had the opportunity to read some written communication of some so called graduates and I was sad for these people - if one cannot express themselves properly how do you expect to compete with graduates from around the world.

u also have to remember that some really bad eggs have spoiled our reputation and we all have to pay for this - i know people who claim that they have work experience when in fact they just get their friend or uncle to write a reference for them

is peckham the whole of England gosh the ignorance of people, and when people start saying there is poverty in Nigeria everyone starts talking of VI and lekki.

I guess all the footballers and Russian millionaires should up sticks and move to Lagos abi, cos England is a dump. nonsense!!!!!

at least a poor person in their "dump" can go to hospital and get treated properly for a serious illness, i doubt the same can be said for a poor person living back home in a "dump".

how is this a conspiracy? there was major flooding in many west African countries and when there is flooding cholera tends to follow.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/physical_health/conditions/cholera.shtml

and there are vaccines available for cholera
Health / Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by ada24: 8:54pm On Sep 08, 2010
thanks all, it has been a stressful week with one doctor saying one thing and another saying another, i understand telling a patient the risks involved but it has not done much for my peace of mind.

I am thankful as I have now started feeling the baby move about and I hope this pattern of movement will be replicated when it is out cos it tends to be sleeping a lot (trust me I'm not complaining) there are times it must be kicking and punching the fibroid cos i occasionally get a sharp pain in the areas I have been told they are located.

I will not be having a c/section again after discussing with my midwife, been advised that it will be performed only if necessary.

@Arlington I am based in the UK (to answer ur earlier question)

This really is a miracle baby cos to be honest I was due to start taking clomoid in July and here I am after being told it would be extremely difficult to get pregnant and I'm here almost 6 months - i can only give thanks to God.

@Genbuhari - was not meant to sound short with you but it is really 50/50 was watching this programme her last week and these women who had all boys were so desperate for girls and honestly some of them took it almost to obsessional levels. There was a rich couple that I think eventually had twin girls after spending £25,000 on some speacialist treatment abroad. one woman had 8 boys and was contemplating getting pregnant again to see if she would have a girl - i just thought WHAT? is 8 not enough all in a bid for a girl na wah o. read the article below - found it very intresting. my personal opinion is u get what God gives u.

the odds are 50/50 be thankful you have any children at all. if u have a spare $15,000 i hear there are clinics in america that can carry out gender selection from embryos

sorry if i sound somehow - not in the best of moods today and think we should all be grateful for what we get. But I have heard that having intercourse closer to ovulation increases the chance.

I don't understand why having birth is so expensive in the USA, $12000 just for 2 or 3 days stay in the hospital? how much does epidural injections costs that makes them to charge $1500?. It seems to me that they've turned this birthing to money making exercise after realising some people's insatiable quest US passport, grin grin grin. Apart from the fact that all this is free in the UK for both citizens and residents so many illegals can have their child free without anyone requesting for their ID.If at all some people have to pay I'm sure it wouldn't be that astronomical compare to the US of A, sometime i just don't understand all these craziness about America sef, grin grin grin

ummmmmm i don't know the definite answer to this but u are aware that medical care in america is not free hence why giving birth is expensive. if you check its probably the same price if you went private in the UK.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Close To Population Disaster – British Council Raises Alarm by ada24: 7:16am On Sep 06, 2010
this thread is funny - what kind of soup are u guys cooking for N500 a kilo of chicken alone in PH is between N700-800, minimum for a batch of onions over N100. u haven't even factored in dry fish, crayfish and the other essentials needed.

i have no idea why people are arguing back and forth about this $1 figure, it is an average of the 70% not what everyone is earning. The last time I checked the govt do not provide benefits (welfare) to unemployed people in Nigeria so what income do people who are not working earn?

a lot of people have mobile phones but use them only to flash so this business of people having phones therefore somehow the majority of people are middle class is funny.

anyway i will leave all the economic analysis to the main posters here as my brain is tired.

Of course, it would be terrible to you and a lot of Nigerians because there is no razzmatazz and half na''ked men and women shouting 'shake that thing', 'move that thing' or the other equally decadent line like ' i got million dollars' , I make big money'. The sort of nonsense that we have been subjected to by talentless individuals who just want to play on the depravity prevalent in society today to sell their nonsense.

Like someone said, her music can only be appreciated by mature minds who need to hear the message in a music and not just to hear a cacophony of sound.

Nneka is as real as ever. She doesnt have problem shooting a music video in the slums of lagos or the hamlets in Nsuka. Because her message is in the music.

That is why she is so popular with Europeans who like it real.

As for people like 4play slandering someone just for the sake of it, hold on till when you get to the point of being well-known or achieving something then you will have a taste of what you just did.

not everyone has to like her music - what is with this "u have to have a mature mind to appreciate her music" abeg everybody is entitled to like what they like - u think oyinbo people insult each other cos some of them like or dislike coldplay.

Her music is ok but not for everyone - i personally do not like the meaningless and lyrically poor rubbish that comes from todays so call stars in Nigeria (Psquare, dbanj and the like). Nneka is extremely talented - I will give her that and we should all be proud that she is making waves on the international stage and actually identifies with her nigerian side, I just wish we had more positive people like her and not people showing the world that they are buying mansion and jeep in lekki phase one and then tomorrow we wonder why they are broke, instead of them investing the money. Its even good CNN don't interview some of our stars abeg some of them have questionable spoken communication skills.

On another note with all the supposed wealth and exposure or hip hop stars have why have none of them (i will excuse dbanj as he is linked to an orphanage) done anything worthwhile with this privilege.

even if they believe in leprechauns they have to believe in something. I think most of them try to justify their beliefs with science forgetting that it was and is God that has blessed people with the intelligence to have the information and science we have today.

abeg I don't agree with the views of this man but i find it quite distasteful that people think that his physical condition is a punishment from God. Is it this mentality that makes people throw away their disabled children or hide them from the rest of society. Just like not everyone will be rich or poor not everyone will be a "normal" person.

abeg lets deal with what he said and not his condition. anyway he is talking a load of rubbish but i guess people who don't believe in God have to believe in something.

Now that someone collaborates with Nas, you pop out of the woodwork. Nigerians and their misplaced priorities!

It is painful that a thread about the giant strides of Nneka Egbuna, the first Nigerian artist to collaborate with American Rapper, Nas, has been turned into an avenue to display ignorance and crass jealousy. This is not about the Nneka that defrauded a nairalander. Nneka Egbuna is getting popular everyday. Her music is great and she is a good example of what an average Nigerian youth should be. I have written some stories about Nneka on my blog and have taken the time to conduct a proper research on her. Nneka Egbuna keeps her website and Myspace page updated daily. This is what many Nigerian artists fail to do.  It is not important that you should like her music, but it is very difficult no to smiley smiley. The reason why I like Nneka Egbuna is because she chose to identify with Nigeria when she had 1000 reasons to stay away from the country. This is a mixed race lady who has chosen to highlight the problems of the Niger Delta through her music. How many musicians with Nigerian heritage are doing this? We have the likes of Sade Adu, Tunde Baiyewu, Seal, Lemar Obika etc who are not doing much to identify with Nigeria. Yet a lady who has a lot of opportunities in Germany comes along to inspire us to be concerned about our country's destiny and we laugh at her sad sad sad

Nneka speaks intelligently and she has made good use of the opportunities she came across in Europe to launch her career. Let us learn from her to start doing positive things wherever we are located. Nneka Egbuna is on the way to greater things and she might just get that Grammy Award in the near future. Cheers.

www.vibes-extra..com

don't really like her music and that has nothing to do with not appreciating different genres just a personal choice - the reason I highlghted those names is cos u made a valid point but need to remember it is much easier for someone that grew up in Nigeria to identify with Nigeria like Nneka. Lemar did not grow up in Nigeria and although he will probably never deny his heritage it is a lot easier to identify with where u grew up. Just thought I would add that.

as for the ignoramuses that continue to hijack this thread with their nonsensical rant about another Nneka (oh yes there is more than 1 Nneka in this world!!!!!!!!) abeg move ur 4-1-9 gist to the appropriate topic in the crime section.

Not in the mood for this today abeg!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh I thank God the majority see sense,

the poster is a joker pure and simple - u are in a country that allows u to talk of human right, if ur that passionate about it fight for human rights in Nigeria.

whoever thinks its ok to use someone's name, national insurance number and other forms of fake ID deserves all he gets when he is caught. Imagine if you were unable to open even a post office account cos some fraudster ruined ur credit history and name all in the name of using "somebody elses ID".

if you want to be surrounded by immigration staff that look like you get ur backside to MMA, all the immigration staff there at black, can't even believe you would even throw that into the mix.

this kind of rant from the poster can be annoying for us lawabiding citizens who do not try to be smart with immigration laws and the laws of the land.
