Siga: ...Word of advise for those of una wey still dey wait for visa.... Make una know say studying in Canada no be yams ooo... if u know u are not ready for the workload and all... stay ur a$$ back for Lagos... its alot of work and not a joke... so... be read to study wella and assignments... dont come with ur arrogance claiming dem no dey study for abroad... u go FAIL....

Evidence: How many guys wey don enter, start school u see on Nairaland again...

Na jeje wey PGD dey wey person talk say im wan do am. E suppose know say na fire. Even to get admission sef na wahala. All the grammar, questions, essays, references, in some cases interview sef. Na serious matter o. And even course outline na die. I advise people to look at their course descriptions and have faith grin
My consolation be say am not the first to study this course, and won't be the last. Na book wey them read make them pass. Na to read that same book and make God help man pikin. May person no just dey read in vain.
This book matta na serious business o. And na make God provide betta job after wey go make all those reading over worth it. You know that kind ArmyRobber / PoliThiefcian / Sinatorial salary.

kayconsult: a friend of mine visited chdc today to make inquiry and he was told that they are presently treating files of applicants who submitted on the 30th of may.

O Lord have mercy let this waiting end tomorrow.
Let my medical instruction come tomorrow.
Let me and all Fall applicants receive mercy.
Let the window gates of heaven open.
Let there be an outpouring of mercy and medical instructions without condition.
O Lord have mercy.
Satisfy us early with your mercy.
Have mercy we pray
In Jesus Name Amen

Was checking through the documents I submitted and spotted on my admission letter an expiry date in Jan and a start date in Sept. Already since I couldn't make September, I was unregistered for term 1.

I haven't submitted a change of start date because the last time i was at CDHC the lady said if they need a new start date they would request from me. And up till now I haven't gotten a request from them yet. I want to believe that CDHC understands this expiry date as last day of resumption sha.

Or am I missing something here?

Enough of my ramblings and congrats to those who just received their medics

You guys are forgetting something. This is a final year project and not a job for a client.

Would a normal thinking supervisor accept WordPress as a final year project . But then I could be wrong since education here is in shambles.

Make your life easy use plain php ,mysql and you could pickup twitter bootstrap in less than 2hours.

Well there's lots to learn in order to accomplish a site like coursera.

However, given your task at hand you need to learn/ use the following:
1. Html5 and Javascript use a toolkit like Twitter Bootstrap to.make things easier.

2. Databases - simplest to comprehend mysql.

3. Video tutorials - upload them on YouTube and embed them in your site.

4. Web scripting language - PHP or python. These are the easiest and you'd be able to get tons of free turoriald.

5. Frameworks/ CMS - joomla, danjo, drupal , cakephp, code igniter. This is optional but it would make your job faster but you'd have to learn them and understand their underlying programming language .

6.W3schools is a good place to start

Typical 9ja talk. We all want change but do not want to fight for it. Like the great Fela said, 'everybody want change but nobody wan die'. Our corrupt and oppressive rulers will not be 'lions' were we not 'deer'. All these countries Nigerians keep fleeing to have fought and died for what they have today. We are the change we want.

Yeah right the last resistance went well right. While the masses were busy protesting , those who led them were busy collecting their Ghana must go. Wonder what happened to those who lost their lives? Nothing.

Fatherland, Patriotism , Nationality these are all emotional and as with all emotions they could be very dangerous and block sound judgement. Let's stop using patriotism as an excuse for reckless and irresponsible governance.

And for those shouting discrimination and 2nd class citizen problems. Well that happens even here in Nigeria. Do you and white folks receive the same treatment here? Have you ever applied for a job/contract and couldn't get it despite being better qualified just because you aren't from their state ?

And yes the legal system that allows all to be taken from you even your dignity in your own country by your own people.

For the records, I've never played the lottery , never will either. Whoever wants to can simply do so. Its a free and imperfect world.

In the words of my friend
Teacher : Nigeria would become better some day. What kind of tense is this?

Akpos: Future impossible tense.

What you would have getting better is people who go the extra extra mile to develop competencies and remain dogged enough to breakthrough and excel in an abnormal society with no real rules where might is power.

Like I said earlier Sanity isn't too much to ask.

I do not doubt that Nigeria is a bundle of anomalies and contradictions. However, no one is going to spoon feed you. We have to seize the bull by the horn. If our so called indigenous engineers prove themselves, they will not be supervised by foreigners in their own country. I continue to maintain that it is our collective duty to develop our own country rather than this foolish urge to travel out. Just the other day, a video was posted of Nigerians perishing in the Sahara whilst trying to emigrate to Europe. Are we so hopeless as a people?

Guy a beg park well. Who told you that Nigeria is about merits. Try the contract allocation process and learn how bad nepotism, corruption with impunity has wrecked this country.

No one is asking to be spoon fed all that we require is a system where there is
1. sanity
2. Meritocracy
3. Minimum level of corruption

Is this too much to ask

Chrisvicmall:

The cause of delay with your order is from government office side i.e Naco. It is a general issue. You can contact anyone you know that works in Naco to verify. When such things happen, there is nothing much anyone can do but rather wait. Though it doesn't rare happens but once in a while it do happens for earlier this year.

Regarding the one month claim, your profile shows that you placed the order on 21th August and the product was sent on 28th. Following our explanation, it takes between 10th to 14th days before the product will reach Nigeria. If you check it, you will agree with us that today makes it the 14th day. Please when you criticize us do it accordingly to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

NAHCO and SAHCOL have issues with the Customs OgaAtTheTop. So its a total lockdown. Nothing goes in or out until new "agreements" are reached.

Also how much would it cost to bring in the following:

Did you go to CDHC to inquire about your application?

Let's hope the large volume of enquiries would ginger them to speed up the process. Its just absurd for study permits to take this long. Really wondering why they can't take a cue from their American counterparts

I will suggest you hold on for the embassy to contact you first cos at this stage its very "unlikely" you can make September anymore. So chill...keep hoping embassy calls...after medicals. ..they will tell you to request for new start date.so you can actually start discussing with your school. .soon after your medicals. ..since you know that will be the embassy's next move!
All the best bro

Thanks

I seriously have this feeling that this VO humans sef never open my file.

And to make matters worse I leave Abuja finally tomorrow. Didn't extend my contract.

16 weeks shocked you should be at CDHC reminding them that. An inquiry would do no harm remember they said average processing time is 4 - 6 months. So at least you should have heard something now.
