Religion / Re: Can The Pentecostals Ever Unite? by afiq(m): 5:06pm On Jan 22, 2010
To summarize: The Pentecostals fail to understand that Satan is quite able to produce "signs and wonders" to mislead even the elect (Matt. 24:24) and create the illusion of spiritual good to achieve his evil ends. This lying spirit can produce psuedo-virtues — "love," "patience," "joy," "hope," and "peace," etc. — for he is the Great Deceiver. That such so-called virtues are not grounded in faith and obedience to Apostolic doctrine and authority but mask spiritual pride and spiritual greed. The Gospel makes clear that Satan and his fallen angels have the power to twist the truth, to confuse, to caricature, to mimic God's works, and to appear as an "angel of light." (2 Cor. 4:3f.)

Religion / Re: Who Says Tithing Is Not New Testamental? by afiq(m): 6:17am On Jan 21, 2010
Since we are no longer under the Old Testament Law, we are not required to measure out a tenth of everything we earn and pay it to the Church.
On the other hand, since everything we have comes from God, and since God has supposedly written His Law on our hearts, we should be quite thoroughly generous.

There has never been an obligation for Christian to tithe. It is indeed a noble and praiseworthy thing to do, but it is not an obligation. The practice is rooted in the Old Testament laws. It's not a bad thing by any means, but neither is it a moral imperative.

What the Church does mandate (which is one of the five precepts of the Church) is that we "help to provide for the needs of the Church". The Church does not give a percentage and does not state that such provisions must be monetary.

It is often the case (at least speaking from personal experience) that we can give more than we think we can. But even so, that doesn't mean we all have to give 10%. The Church does need money to operate, but it certainly needs much more than just money.

Several other religious groups (like the Mormons) really emphasize tithing. I think we Christians see that and start to feel guilty. We shouldn't be stingy, and we should take a good look at our giving to make sure we're not just rationalizing our own selfishness, but we shouldn't (always) feel guilty about giving less than ten percent of our gross income simply because we haven't hit that threshhold.

The Church only expects financial contributions as we are able. There are times when we are not able, and that's okay. We are also asked to contribute with our time, talent, and also our prayers. Giving of ourselves in these ways help us to serve others through the Church, and we are richly blessed by it as is the Church.

Religion / Re: Roman Catholic Is Not A Church, But A Modernised Way Of Idolatry? by afiq(m): 2:24am On Jan 16, 2010
The word "catholic" means universal. Jesus created one universal church for all of mankind. The Catholic Church was established by Jesus with his words spoken in Matthew 16. Jesus asked his disciples "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" The disciples then offered various answers - "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." But the question that Jesus then asked was crucial: "But who do you say that I am?"

The answer provided by Simon Peter set in motion the formation of the Catholic Church by Jesus. "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." With this answer, Jesus established the Catholic Church with Simon Peter designated the first Pope.

"Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Shalom Nairalanders,

"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst" Matthew 18:20

Doesn't matter which Church you belongs to, I would like to know your opinion (the positive and negative sides) about Home Fellowship. Instead of doing it at Church/hall, folks gathered in Christ's name for Bible study and Praise & Worship at the comfort of their home with family, friends and their associates.

If you ever joined this sort of gathering/fellowship, please share your experience here,

Religion / Re: Redeemed Christian Church Of God Is The Best: But I Have Questions by afiq(m): 3:54am On Jan 12, 2010
If I were you, I'll have a second thought joining them. Their fellowship, praise and worship may sounds cool, but all of that is to delusion you in a way you never think of. Their so called 'faith & belief' are too good to be true. Been there done that. Their 'Bible' was designed to suit their personal interest. Whenever folks agrees with them(according to their Bible), those folks considered Christian, whenever they are not, they'll be classified as something else. One more thing, they loves to quote everything from their 'Bible' cheesy cheesy cheesy

Pentecostal means business grin grin grin Like I said, there's always something rotten about RCCG grin grin grin

You are a baptized Christian, stay and be proud of what you are bro,  God bless cool

Religion / Re: Should Catholic Priests be Allowed to Get Married? by afiq(m): 1:58pm On Dec 26, 2009
The best thing for us (the Catholics/non Catholics) to do is, to not judge something we don't understand. The protestants are busy 'protesting' and criticizing everything against their 'belief', the Catholics busy thinking as if the priests are not human. They do have flaws and weaknesses like you and me.

Two men were shipwrecked near an island. When they landed ashore, one of them began screaming and yelling, “We’re going to die! We’re going to die! There’s no food! No water! We’re going to die!”

The second man leaned calmly against a palm tree.

When the first man saw how calm his friend was, he went crazy and shouted, “Don’t you understand?! We’re going to die!!”Undisturbed, the second man replied, “You don’t understand, I make $100,000 a week.”

Dumbfounded, the first man looked at him and asked, “What difference does that make?!? We’re on an island with no food and no water! We’re going to DIE!!!”

The second man answered, “You just don’t get it. I make $100,000 a week and I tithe ten percent on that $100,000 a week. Wherever I am, my pastor will be sure to find me!”

A middle aged woman has a heart attack and is taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she has a near-death experience. During that experience she sees God and asks if this is it. God says no and explains that she has another 30-40 years to live.

Upon her recovery she decides to just stay in the hospital and have a face lift, liposuction, breast augmentation, and a tummy tuck. She even has someone come in and change her hair colour. She figures that since she's got another 30 or 40 years she might as well make the most of it.

She walks out the hospital after the last operation and is killed by an ambulance speeding up to the hospital.

She arrives in front of God again and asks, "I thought you said I had another 30-40 years?"

God replies, "Sorry, I didn't recognize you."

Religion / Re: Pastor Bakare On Tithes by afiq(m): 5:59am On Nov 29, 2009
Tithe, or donation shall we called it, is something that should be done from the heart. It comes in various forms, such as money or your natural talent/expertise. It's not mandatory. For those who likes to have childish or baseless debate about tithe, then they must have their own version of 'bible'. Beware of those who's using God's house for their scam projects, you know the endless building fund. Never trust a Pastor in fine suits tho cheesy

chukwudi44:

Everything is wrong with worshipping mary since she is not God but the last time I checked catholics don't worship Mary rather they honour her,she is venerated by catholics likewise thousands of other saints.

Protestants who like to tell us honouring mary is equally wrong  but they even give more honour to their greedy pastors that's why today pastors are alwys right even when he drives 5 private jets and his members are hungry

chukwudi, you are so right about that. At least there's someone in the house knew what he said before he wrote something up here. Aren't Christians supposed to be united in Christ's name rather than using God's word and work to cover their sh*t?
