GenBuhari:

Ojukwu did not declare war, he simply declared independence.

Gowon declared war.

If he fought to the last man all Igbos would be exterminated, so we are glad he quit when he did.
You know I used to respect you and see you as a non typical. You responded in a typical manner. You did not even read his comment.

madam_oringo:

If you truly believe that, then I've got a mansion to sell you in the middle of the Atlantic! You ibos are blind and unable to see, someone cursed you and he must be a powerful witchdoctor. So if ibos were to be exterminated, was Ojukwu in a position to do anything about it? After biafra lost the war catastrophically, what stopped Nigeria from killing all the remaining ibos? How did Effiong and his commanders come in to Lagos and were allowed to live? Would a Hitler have allowed any of them to leave alive? Why not deceive them and shoot them all to death and finish off the few ibos left in the east if it was the aim of Nigeria to kill off all ibos? Well, I don't expect you to reason anyway, you people have your minds made up on lies!
I couldn't agree more. Sometimes the kind of aspersions these guys make cannot be described. They can come up with anything and hold on to it even when they are wrong. Now, I am sure deep down he Ojukwu regretted ever declaring independence or whatever. There are ways of getting things rather than fighting .Even one is going to fight he has to be ready for it. But in the typical manner of "gra gra" they declared independence. Igbos could have gotten independence if they had used their brain rather than acting like they did, which I consider amateurish. There is a difference between having strength and having brains. One thing is sure if it had succeeded that country would have been like Eritera by now.
Culture / Re: Oba Of Lagos Visits Oba Of Benin by babanaba: 10:34pm On Jul 04, 2013
Dudu_Negro:

Yes, Oba of Lagos is a Sovereign King and there is nothing in the palace protocol that forbids his visit to anywhere in his domain if he chooses to do so. He is likewise not forbidden to honor invitations from outside the domain.

The Yoruba culture reveres the throne and views a King as a divine. Therefore his public appearance must be veiled and guarded, shrouded in mystery.

You don't know the history of Sokoto Caliphate, if you did you would not have said that Sultan does not visit outside his domain. You don't hear about it but he does visit his Emirates.

You Binis wrap too much mystery and fables around Omo N'Oba than he deserves. You are destroying the true value of the throne. It is disrespectful to the Oba's stool of authority to portray him demeaning or belittling an important guest to his domain. This issue of Gej bein received with disrespect and dismiss by the Oba should be corrected. Kings are magnanimous and embracing, it is not good to portray His Highness as a cold and calculating leader. I hope you will stop circulating this picture of Gej.....it speaks ill of the palace, please stop it.

Could you copy and paste one of such comments? What makesyou think that Binins are those writing such comments?Do you know that I have seen all kinds of people who claim to be Binins or are from Benin City only to discover that they were only born in the City(Benin)?

I will not go down the gutter with you on the insults so as to keep this very educating thread very useful for others who seek to enrich themselves.

You also did not notice the words FOCUS and WITHOUT NEGLECTING in my post or did you

It might interest you to note that the Europeans were also very religious up to around the 17th century and their societies were so underdeveloped and marked by oppression as we have in most African countries today.

I take back any insults

anonimi: Is it not VERY TELLING that despite the reputation the Binis have about juju and plenty jazz and sacrifices the white colonial masters could have ordinary African police men arrest him.

Says a lot about belief in juju specifically but also about religions and SPIRITUAL things generally.

Time for Africans to focus on knowledge, analysis and science for growth without neglecting the HERITAGE/HISTORY/LEGACY aspects of our religions
There are so many countries like India which the Britts still got an upper hand over. You made little sense but I think there are situations where Jazz or juju won't work. Also you need to know the circumstance on which the guys were able to arrest him.The thing is you need to use your head when you write.Myself I don't do Jazz and Juju but they do have effect.Even a white friend of mine who spent sometime in Africa confirmed to me.Another question is without the white men would those guys have dared?

You said..I quote you "the present Iduu of Igbo land the greatgrand son of Eri personally showed me the portion where the Edo's started their journey from".Is he a Nigerian or not?Besides a Kingdom that stated over a thousand years ago how come or what can you show to prove that they moved from that portion.
Please don't bring you arrogances and ignorance into this.Apart from what do on a daily base history is one of my hobbies.

On betrayal I think what people are referring to as betrayal is the fact that they did not keep to the Kings direction of making sure the strangers were prevented from entering the palace without hurting them.Rather they killed them.
Or maybe people also ascribe it to the fact that some ethnic groups in now Delta state(Urhobos and Itsekiris) one of the Kingdoms founded by a Benin Oba many years before ,convinced the British that the Kingdom be removed so they can get access to the hinterlands. It could be that a betrayal was ascribed to that since they were supposed to be loyal to Benin Kingdom. You know people can come up with so many stories back then when words of mouth where more common in getting news.

On the hat what I suspect is that the King might have gone to exile without anything so he decided to make use of what he had or what he was provided by the British.

As fro who was already in contact with the Portuguese-that is between the Benin Kingdom and Lagos..With what I know a then Oba around 15 century was the first to speak Portuguese i.e "Potoki" ,his son became an Ambassador to Portugal.

On the influence of Benin and Neighbouring palaces even in the Delta the Olu of Iteskiri was a prince from Benin.
On why the Oba was conquered-There is a particular tribe that likes attacking others on the internet but in real life they wouldn't dare open their mouth.Educate yourself if you can with the few lines I'm going to write.
The British had a higher fire power;they did it to the Azantis in Ghana,it was done to the Zulus in in SA.Whatever goes up must come down.Civilizations have risen and have been crushed. But,the Benin Kingdom in spite of this the Kingdom survived and preserve her heritage.

But do you know that Idu migrated from Enugu Aguleri. Eze Chukwuemeka Eri..the present Iduu of Igbo land the greatgrand son of Eri personally showed me the portion where the Edo's started their journey from. ERI is the prognator of the Igbo race.

I am not making this up. I am speaking from fact. You may wanna make more research...also check the link below.

They always believe Nigerdeltans should be left alone when they commit graft. Don't mind these people (Nigerdeltans) who think they are victims. I have one of them as friend who used to live with us when we were in Abuja in year 2000. The guy came from River State and was posted to serve in Kebbi. He had no place to live in Kebbi and an Hausa man who happened to be my friends brother took him in into his house in Birnin kebbi to help him. The man is brother to now Senator Atiku Bagudu currently serving. Atiku Bagudu was Abacha's right hand man when it came to hiding money overseas. He lived with the guy for 10 months without any problem. When he came to Abuja, he would be talking about how Hausas are so bad in the way they deprived them the right to rule Nigeria as Nigeria only survive on the money realised from their oil.

Let's fast forward to today. The guy hates Hausa's including the Hausa man who took him in to help him when he was posted to Kebbi as a young medical graduate. The guy does not talk to me anymore because I said on facebook that Jonathan is not performing well as President. This is the same Jonathan that my whole family voted for. I am Yoruba by the way.

For all you know that writer might not even be a Nigeri Deltan. Most Nigeri Deltans are truthful when it comes to things like this, unless the few who have sold their soul.

There is a particular tribe in Nigeria, they know themselves. They are very quick in opening their mouths to say stupid things and they keep getting into trouble. There is nothing good that ever comes out of other tribes according to them. They come here to say all sort of silly stuffs about the Oba.In real life they wont dare say anything to a Bini not to talk of the Oba.
Now ,the Oba is(was) a wise man ,there must be a reason he did bow.
As for the regalia..Maybe the reason it is was one of his Grand fathers' belongings that survived the massacre of 1896.Maybe he wanted the Queen to know that the Kingdom is till alive ..No one knows the particular reason...
So you people be careful. And that is why you guys have the shortest life span in Nigeria. You know yourselves...
You come here to make fool of yourselves.

Why insult the OP?I mean if GEJ was doing stuffs no one will need to ask what he is doing? They will speak for him.If you cannot see the effect of a leader in 2 plus years I bet you give him another 10 years things will not change or improve.See what Lula De Silva did in Brazil..He didn't have to complete his term before people saw what he did for the country. And by the way Nigerians should stop praising those they call leaders because of the little they do.They ought to be doing more.It is their constitutional duty.

The lazy bones that they are, they are just taking after the words of the PDP goons who are usually the first to comment on any thread which relates to General Buhari.

Imagine a nation where the youths think its a crime for a leader to tell the truth, yet they will have you believe they are looking for good governance.

It is really bad.Like Bakare said :The country is now one where villains are celebrated and heroes castigated.

While growing up i didn't meet a lot of Igbos. When you meet an Igbo man outside Nigeria he is like-"Broda...."He makes sure you get to trust him.He then opens up with his problem to you and you help him.Meanwhile he avoids his tribesman around. They won't be there to help him.He wouldn't tell them his problems. He acts like he is not a tribalist. You think he is a friend. As soon as he gets what he wants you suddenly become his number 1 enemy. He now remembers that you not from his tribe. He wakes up with nonsense in his mouth and when you react(with real anger) he withdraws like a coward. He will never apologize even when he wrong because of arrogance and pride. When things starts going wrong with him he thinks the problem is emanating from one shrine in his village.
Ps:This is written with respect to the few different ones.
