Hey TX, all i can say is do what you can afford . Our wedding cost way more than that. And if your family can help thats cool. I know mine did expecially when it came to gifts. A lot of family members came up with gifts that they gave away. Just to give you an idea of how much ours cost, We spent $4000 on clothing alone. We had about 25 canopies cos we did an out door reception and we made sure every canopy had their food and drinks surplus. The musicians cost quite a bit too. but all the same goodluck, i know my bride prize was not much. Where am from ( Asaba) we don't ask for much. Its actually whaever your family ask for. I know my friends dad asked for a penny for her sister. mine was under 50 bucks. I mean dowry. Just ask someone close to you to get you a list of everything you need, that will give you an idea. I don't know where you are from but in my place, the elders have a list of what the villagers will ask for and then you can figure out what your friends and her firends will need. I hope this helped some. Take care and all the best. |

I would hate to tell you how much we spent on our wedding in Nigeria 2004, we went from the US, can you give me an idea how much budget you have? You have to consider, family size and guests, i am ibo and i married a Yoruba man. And you know the yorubas like to party. Consider clothing ( depending on how many times you want to change) entertainment ( we had ibo and yoruba bands, they took turns playing), Food, you definitely have to have enough of that, drinks and gifts. Venue is very important, if anything make sure you have enough food and drinks. |

Health / Re: What Do You Use When On Your Period? Tampons Or Pads? by babe1(f): 5:05am On Aug 03, 2006 |
Well i used Tampons for a very loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time and one day i met this lady that her daughter contacted TSS ( Toxic shock Syndrome) from using tampons, it is rare but it does happen. Read the leaflet that comes with it , they will tell you or used to i haven't used one in yrs but ever since i have been hooked on pad. I also think you feel clean with pad i mean everything comes out. Tampon only hurts when you don't insert it well, find a friend that uses it and have em show you how. It is pretty easy when you know how and comfy. |

The driver even had the nerve to say he would slap me for blocking the road, thank God for having guys in my family cos they slapped the you know what out of him. |

dondele duh, different states am sure differents strokes, my nieces and nephews have has accounts(savings) since they were babies with their parents on there. My niece tried to open a checking account in TX at 17bcause she was going off to college and needed her own checking account t but they wont let her till she turned 18 and she just did. This is with chase bank. I utter out of experience my friend. Dont tell me what you think is right when i was there. geez. What did u say? parents or guardian. Did you even understand what i wrote in the first place? i dont think so. check yourself b4 you wreck yourself.Get it right please. Like i said the topic was not about brother and sister but husband and wife. There is a reason while this is a forum, she can come up with her own brother and sister allowance topic i think. Sometimes people shy away from whats on the table and i for one , i have a right to my opinion, and do not find that interesting. |

Religion / Re: You're A Christian, Your Wife Is A Muslim. Will The Marriage Work? by babe1(f): 9:00am On Aug 01, 2006 |
I am catholic and i married a Muslim almost two tears ago. So far so good, i don't go to the mosque and he doesn't go to my church but we do pray together to GOD. I take our 9month old baby to church, he has not tried to stop me and i know eventually he would wanna take her to the mosque. Hopefully the children can decide what they want when they are old enough. I think thats the only obstacle. I love him and he loves me unconditionally and i think that works great. |
