Business / Re: Senate Increases Banks’ Windfall Levy To 70% by being(m): 5:18pm On Jul 24
FreeStuffsNG:
The Senate is perfectly in order.

The money doesn't belong to the banks!! It's money created by the CBN's unification of the forex in both official and parallel markets.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!
What should happen to companies who suffered as a result of the policy-those who had fx losses..FMCGs like Cadbury, NB, Guinness... will they be given windfall grants ?

Family / Re: My Wife Insisting That Her Pastor Must officiate our child naming ceremony. by being(m): 8:25pm On Jul 18
BlindAngel:

That's the church she was attending before we got married, so I don't want to stop her in order for it not to seems like I'm wicked and for her not to call me names.

Yesterday she reminded me that after our marriage my family forced her to do thanks giving at our church. She has been saying this for long, but stopped, until yesterday.

I told her that doing thanks giving at our church is now a bad thing or something that's forceful?

She cried a lot yesterday because of our argument of this naming.

Same tears she used in forcing me into getting married to her when I wasn't in anyway ready.
This is a problem that should have been avoided b4 d start of marriage.. u should.have both agreed on which church u both will attend together... ordinarily, the practice is the wife leaves her church for the husband's church.. but of course they both can agree to her church or another church. But it is very BAD to be attending different churches from the outset.. which church will the children be going to? U need to find a way to resolve that ASAP

Business / Re: CBN Sells FOREX To BDCs At ₦‎1,450/$ by being(m): 7:15pm On Jul 18
Realdeals:
CBN is not defending, but only intervening by selling at the prevailing market price. They are meant to be intervening in the market because they are the custodian of the FX earned by the government.
U get d gist... 90% if our fx earnings is from oil jointly earned by oil coys and FG(NNPC).. the oil coys exchange only a little part of that to naira for local salaries & local naira expenses... The FG is still d biggest earner of fx.. That the FG doesn't now have fx to supply the market shows u there is a very big problem

You are not in synch with reality.

Most cassava, palm products, tomatoes are bought by tomato paste factories.

Ask someone who is into agriculture…not 1 plot of land agriculture.
Tomato paste factories abroad or what?
The same oil palm that we import 60% of local demand?
See be real... we import too much of food items that we can easily grow and now we are adding maize to that... that is embarrassing apart from adding to unemployment and $ demand..

Even an Agric power like China and USA are importing foods. They also export. There is no harm in importing foods so far you can export your own.

Nigerian farmers are producing but exporting it, so citizens are left stranded.
Which one are u exporting, joker

Politics / Re: Opinion: How FG Can Mitigate The Cost Of Living Crisis In Nigeria by being(m): 4:59pm On Jul 06
donestk:
What about the high cost of every other thing?
Important to dimension things properly
Everything imported are affected by the dollar rate which has increased 100% in the last one yr.
Local food items if u notice are HYPERinflating and that's because there is scarcity induced by insecurity.

And yes, diesel, petrol costs and living costs also add to the prices of everything- local esp and imported..But the 2 reasons above are far more significant !
Politics / Re: Opinion: How FG Can Mitigate The Cost Of Living Crisis In Nigeria by being(m): 4:23pm On Jul 06
donestk:
1. Reduce electricity tariff.
2. Reduce fuel pump price

If these can be implemented now, things will improve in the next 3 to 6 months.

Labour should direct their industrial action to this strategy rather than minimum wage which will be gulped by energy bills.
not entirely.. the primary cause of food hyper inflation is scarcity as a result of fulani herdsmen sacking farmers from the farms

Education / Re: What Is Opay Current Valuation by being(m): 5:14pm On Jun 29
Solsix:

Opay valuation is close to $3b. No bank in Nigeria comes close
I'm not saying it is not.. but the valuations are in 2 different contexts...
Opay valuation is what dome foreign persons are willing to pay for Opay..
The banks valuation is what investors in the NSE are willing to pay for the banks
If u do a financial valuation based on financial analysis skills, u will discover the opay valuation is so much over the board
Politics / Re: Nigeria A Poor Country – Presidential Committee by being(m): 12:34pm On Jun 29
mrvitalis:

You assumed crude oil was 89 dollars fine
89-27 = 62 dollars per barrel profit

Nigerians owns 55% or that profit... So Nigeria entitled profit = 0.55x62 =34.1 dollars

Nigerian produce 1.3 million barrels per day

So Nigerians earning yearly should be

1,300,000 x365x34. 1 =16.18 billion dollars

We also get to tax the oil companies profit... Say that brings 2 billion dollars

Yearly oil revenue is 18 billion dollars max

This is why I always say oil industry is nothing
It is not nothing though.. it is like everything we have.
However, truly Nigeria in revenue terms is too poor compared to the population size... Even Angola, Algeria are richer (oil$ revenue/person).. For other context saudi arabia produces ×10 the oil we produce with much lower cost and a fifth of our population.

A serious govt ought to aggressively work on increasing export revenues (oil, mining or agric) and also encourage production activities leading to import substitution

If insecurity and kidnapping caused by fulani herdsmen is not dealt with under southern heads of security agencies and C-in-C, is it when u have a fulani president again that u expect they will be dealt with?

Family / Re: Does Corporal Punishment Achieve Its Intended Aim? by being(m): 9:04pm On Jun 22
nuele:
I see some children behaving stubbornly, to this I am sure the parent regularly fails to correct them effectively. So your take is that for the 1 or 2 years old (like children) the can inhibit them repetiting the very act that led to such event since that is the only language they understand. I get that.

Now what about the ones that understand well other correction languages e.g., 8-13 years old?

It is important to start discipline early as like I said helps build self control and to take u (and other elders) as an authority. The absence of that can cause problem later on at 12yo when flogging may not be so painful to the child and he hasn't learnt self control and is not used to obeying authority.(This is very important, Mothers esp need to take note)
Rebellion is easier at that age upwards if there is no self control built and the child doesn't see you as an authority.. at that point it is prayers.. then perhaps the child should face some serious consequence of his actions and then that can be used to instruct him
Overall, even from baby stage, prayers and Godly instruction should not be toyed with esp in this age & time.
Family / Re: Does Corporal Punishment Achieve Its Intended Aim? by being(m): 7:12pm On Jun 22
Tell me, hw else do u correct a 1 or 2 yo?
By talking sense to him? Or begging him? Or grounding him?
Flogging is so painful to a little child and so the child immediately controls himself to prevent a repeat of the flogging. And so it has the triple benefits of
1. Correcting the child at that point
2. Helping the child build self control early
3. Helping the child to take you as an authority to be listened to

U beat to correct not to injure or to kill... beating doesn't and should not be injurious to the child's body. If u are too angry to beat a child controllably, then don't beat the child at that point.
nuele:
Corporal punishment refers to punishment meted to bearer in form of flogging or canning. I will extend this to include inserting/rubbing pepper in genitals, ears or eyes and the likes...

However, let's focus on the canning part, and at home compared to school.

Does this sort of punishment achieve its supposed aim of correcting the child and forestalling future reoccurrence of offences?
