This thread was very helpful to me when i applied for my student's visa some years back & i'm very grateful for the wealth of information exchanged here. Congrats to those who just got their visas & welldone to all the contributors A quick question, I have a cousin who is applying for next year's Spring admission. She wants to study Mass Communications/Media. I know generally, most Nigerians who come here go into any of STEM fields (engineering, business, sciences, e.t.c.. My cousin doesn't want any of that, she wants to study Communications. Do you guys forsee a challenge at the embassy with that course choice?, Will the consulars think it's not professional enough? Has anyone in same situation (going to study any of the arts courses e.g. communications, journalism, theatre arts, e.t.c.) been to the embassy and what was the outcome? Pls kindly share ur views/opinion Thanks and expecting a kind response. . . 1 Like |

In the US, "Biscuit" is called "cookie". If you go to a store & ask for biscuit they will give u something that looks like dough "Compound" is called "drive-way" or "yard" "Car boot" is called "Trunk" "Insects (fly, mosquito, e.t.c.)" are referred to as "bugs" Nice one Stellabella. I still trip at #1 sha |

We hope this becomes a reality cos it is long overdue. With the amount of solid waste produced in Nigeria, federal govt should be looking at funding universities to engage in reserach in bio-fuel generation from biomass/solid wastes cos that is the future of energy generation, it is cleaner, cheaper & more sustainable. They should start with improving municipal waste collections & treatment first. Lagos like most major cities in Naija is filled with TRASH! They dont have to keep lying there, they can be harnessed into something more useful & beneficial for mankind |

Nigerians really need to stop directing all their problems to the government! We need to be disciplined sha. After blocking all the drainages with pure water nylon & garbages, why wont it flood when it rains? Fashola tried building new drainages, but the effect isn't felt becos people keep trashing out their mess in the gutters and on the streets!!! We really need to look inwards & address our issues, most of the problems we face in Naija is our fault as individuals but everytime we blame the government (those ones have humongous issues but then. . . )It' s really sad sha 1 Like |

@Herself, pls do not be discouraged ok? Samething happened to me when I went for my first interview in August, I answered all d questions well and was quite composed yet the consular denied me (it was d black guy in counter 4), he seemed to hv made up his mind not to give me the visa even before the interview. I re-applied and got interviewed by the 'strictest of all the consulars' (a white woman incounter3), and I got my visa. It's good to know you are not discouraged and have re-applied, just go back there with faith inGod and confidence and you'd get it. Don't mind those consulars', their rubbish is just too much Wish u all d best as you go again (you'd get it don't worry) @Imperiouxx, you are doing a good job here, keep it up, can't wait to read your success story |

Christianity is a life of faith. It cannot be discerned with the human senses, you stumble at it when you try to grasp it with ur mind. Just believe what God says in His word & u'd be fine |

mayorteeny: Fanstastic score you've got there, Congratulations!!!!. Application process is simple, fill out the application on your school's portal and begin to speak with your college professors for letter of recommendation (find out how many your school requires and get them ready), also start drafting your SOP (this is one of the most important part of your application), spend time on writing it, you can google some sample SOPs on the internet (but pls do not copy ooo. . . they have a way of knowng if you plagiarized), pay your application fee (you can do this with a mastercard or visa card). The earlier you begin your applications the better so start immediately! All the best |
Travel / Re: Gre Score Of 1290 ,yet No Admission ,pls Help by ChiDalu1: 8:10am On Sep 07, 2011 |
Sorry about your rejection @Elewedu. The fact that a school requires a min GRE & TOEFL score which you clearly surpassed is not enough guarantee for admission. Several other factors contribute to admission decision and that is why its advisable to apply to more than one school so as to increase your chances. They probably had more students (with even better profile than yours) apply for thesame semester and as such they can only pick the best of the best. Also, things like SOP, previous research experience, recommendation from your professors, e.t.c. also adds up. Fall 2012 is still far and i know most schools are still accepting applications for it. Try out Texas Tech univ, Univ of West Virginia, Univ of Mississpi, Oklahoma State Univ, University of Oklahoma, University of Tulsa (don't know if these schools offer your course but check them out, a lot of them are also liberal with funding). Also, check out this website www.edulix.com its an Indian forum where people come to share information regarding gradutae studies in the US I wish you all the best Cheers! |

ikechukz: Oh my God. . .Hahahaaaaa!!, this guy is funny, pepper spray indeed!!!. The bible says the flesh wars against the spirit & the Spirit against the flesh. The flesh on its own is not attune to the word of God, does not find it palatable so it's easy to want to sleep in church when the word is being preached, it is natural. The battle is urs to fight to subdue your flesh by staying awake The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, it's up to subdue your flesh |
