Religion / Re: Does Praying For The Dead Really Work? by cosify: 11:05am On Jul 28, 2013
My Holy Catholic Church urges it's faithful to pray for d dead. Apart from dat,it sets aside a day in d Church's calendar for d ''Feast of all Souls'' on which church members pray for their dead relatives and friends and for souls in purgatory.Although some dead people do not need d cleansing of purgatory to go to heaven, some need it.Since it is difficult to know who needs it or not, d prayers become important, eventhough d concept of purgatory is a controversial construct in Christianity. But d fact is: If we really love our departed one who may be, has lived an exemplary life and impacted us positively, then praying for them is a duty we owe them. If more and more people want their peaceful repose, whether by vocal prayer or silent meditation, God may just grant d wishes of His people.

Politics / Re: Gov Amaechi On BBC HARDtalk (Video) by cosify: 1:38pm On Jul 26, 2013
Some nairalanders have already made Amaechi d president come 2015.It is rather unnecesry. Is their decision on d basis of Amaechi being a talker or a doer.I did not listen to d said interview. But I strongly believe dat d Interview as it is now does change d current economic climate and turbulent political terrain in Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Our Position On ‘child Marriage’ – Islamic Organisation by cosify: 8:30pm On Jul 25, 2013
I seriously urge d Senate to rescind it's unwarranted decision on child marriage because I have carefully examined d arguments put forward by d MURIC in it's favour, and I find them all HIGHLY unconvincing. After all, d Senate took dat decision under duress. The senators that supported it were blackmailed into it.
Crime / Re: Pregnant Woman Arrested For Allegedly Killing First Husband In Ilorin. by cosify: 2:20pm On Jul 25, 2013
The devil again? I disagree. One widower in a thread abused his daughters sexually and put d blame on d devil. This fickle woman killed her husband and is blaming d devil again. The fact is: Unless people discipline themselves and allow their meekness to prevail over their animalistic tendencies ,the devil shuld be left alone. Or is it true dat in every human being, there is a devil? Even if Yes, i think d devil, when seriously provokd shuld at worst react in ways such as love withdrawal, severed relationship, legal rather than physical battle(but i think people can defend themselves against a physical attack by physically attacking their attackers).Besides , no reason(good or bad)was given for d murder.
Career / Re: Do You Enjoy Your Work? by cosify: 1:45pm On Jul 25, 2013
Am presently job-hunting after my National Service.Whatever job i am doing now,I do not really enjoy.I only manage it because an idle mind as d saying goes, is d devil's workshop.
Politics / Re: FG/ASUU Negotiation Yielding Fruits — Minister by cosify: 1:31pm On Jul 25, 2013
It better be and d fruits should mature quickly because d leaders of 2moro are trapped in their various universities, idle and with tendency to indulge in various vices that wil make Nigeria uninhabitable for everyone.
Romance / Re: 250 Romantic Nicknames For Your Loved Ones by cosify: 9:12am On Jul 25, 2013
PrettySpicey: Interesting list, except for 'devil'? Somehow that doesn't sound like an endearment.
Call Oga hubby - dearest or dearest one wink
But when in a fun mood its - big daddy yum yum grin
Not only 'devil'. A good number of those names disconnect lovebirds rather than re-ignite and re-kindle their passion or crush on each other. I do not really have any obsession with sobriquets (romantic or not) but some of them such as 'mine', 'my soulmate', 'my love' are terms of endearment to me.
Politics / Re: NLC Threatens To Join ASUU Strike by cosify: 4:59pm On Jul 24, 2013
Most of their demands seem undergraduates-oriented.It is on that basis that i support NLC's threat.Even if government meets these demands,I hope d implementation by ASUU would be effective so as not to give room for lapses or corruption. These are now perrenial needs and should be met as soon as possible. But I think ASUU has to reduce their demands a bit so that they could be realised in no time.

Celebrities / Re: Reasons Why Funke Akindele's Marriage Crashed So Early by cosify: 4:28pm On Jul 24, 2013
No sooner had she entered into d marriage than it failed. It shows they were never meant to be together in d first place. The fact is: Most women are desperate when it comes to marriage and become early divorcees for their imprudence.
Celebrities / Re: Saint Obi Surprises Wife With A Birthday Party (photos) by cosify: 3:00pm On Jul 24, 2013
Known for his action-packed, intelligence, disciplined and responsible roles in films.Surely one of my favourite motion picture personalities.Have been behind d scene for long. His roles in Nollywood films strongly suggested his marital stability and longevity. It's good to come back to public notice this way.Congrats to his enchanting wife.I wish her long life and prosperity and more pleasant surprises in her marriage.
Politics / Re: Sylva Accuses Dickson Of Incompetence, Advises Him To Resign by cosify: 2:42pm On Jul 24, 2013
It is superficial for Dickson to indict only Sylvia on this issue. And it is an onerous task to indict his other predecessors like Alameiseya and Goodluck who are political heavyweights in Bayelsa and Nigeria respectively.Although it depends on when arrears of pension started being owed.If he can not indict Alams,Goodluck and Syvia,i think he should keep calm and think of ways of solving d pension problems.

Sports / Re: Joseph Yobo Chases Mother-in-law From Home - National Enquirer Magazine by cosify: 4:56pm On Jul 22, 2013
Tolexander: Sending the woman away for
interfering into the family of his
home is not really bad.
But he should remember the
communication between the
mother and her daughter isn't
barred of course they can always
communicate on phone or
getting to see each other apart
from yobo's home.
What if what the polyandry
nature runs in their veins or
everything he accused the
woman of doing is typical of
adaeze?
This is not polyandry. It is a common case of infidelity or divorce and remarrying. Polyandry is a situation whereby a woman is married to more than one man at d same time.It is not common in Nigeriaor Africa. What is common is polgyny which is d marriage of a man to more than one wife at d same time.Having said that and if d story is authentic, i think Adaeze's mother is not a good mother-in-law.She wants her negative moral credentials of marital instabilty to be perpetuated in her blood line.To her, it is a way of life. May God rectify Yobo's near breaking home.

Politics / Re: The Most Accomplished Nigerian Ever? by cosify: 3:35pm On Jul 22, 2013
ShyM-X:
Damn! I can't believe someone posted "Catholic Church." grin

Nigerian youths are intellectually deficient and they read everything upside down.

That being said, the only thing the catholic church accomplished is sending pedo priests all over Nigeria to molest little black boys!! undecided
Your comments were totally unprovoked. You must be careful not to incur the wrath of God by such sacrilegious and irreverent comments you have made against the holy body of Christ. I will as much as possible avoid bandying words with you.
Politics / Re: The Most Accomplished Nigerian Ever? by cosify: 3:26pm On Jul 22, 2013
It is difficult to work out d most accomplished Nigerian ever. However,Chinua Achebe,Olusegun Obasanjo,Obafemi Awolowo,Wole Soyinka are formiddable contenders.

NYSC / Re: Two Female Corpers Set Ablaze In Rivers State by cosify: 9:05pm On Jul 19, 2013
chidindufrank: Scrap NYSC ASAP
It's a wrong solution please. When corps members are bombed in d North, some will say NYSC should b srapped. When armed robbers kill corps members in d South ,some will say NYSC should b scrapped. What then should b d solution? If scrapping an establishment when it has a fault is d solution, then iam sure all other establishments including every state and LG in Nigeria must b scrapped. NYSC should b restructured and reorganised.
Politics / Re: Senators Who Voted To Legalise Underage Marriage. by cosify: 8:25pm On Jul 19, 2013
First, i am not surprised because 33 out of d 35 senators were from d North whose religious law supports underage marriage. Second:The issue of underage marriage should b left for States Houses of Assembly to deliberate upon and reach conclusions.I trust dat most if not all Southern states will not pass it into law.The North or Islam should not rule Nigeria on such a sensitive issue. It is tarnishing our image abroad. Here lies d clear-cut difference between d largely muslim North and d largely christian South. This issue somehow re-echoes and re-emphasises d undesirability of d amalgamation of 1914. To an extent, it proves right ,d assertion of critics and cynics that Nigeria is d lumping of strange bedfellows who can hardly survive d task of nationhood.
Properties / Re: Building Collapsed At Ebute Meta, Killing 6 by cosify: 9:13pm On Jul 12, 2013
Because of d housing problem in Nigeria, many Nigerians prefer to live in badly or poorly built houses. After paying d rent, they also pay with their heads when such houses thumble down on them like dominos. In this regard i think landlords more than tenants should be held responsible. For me,it is better to live in a grass or wooden house than in a concrete house that is more expensive and can kill or maim with it's debris in case of cllapose. It is almost like a regular occurence that buildings in Lagos settlements reduce to rubble. Governor Fashola should do more about it.All d stakeholders should cooperate with him.

Politics / Re: Nigeria Rated 8th Most Corrupt Nation- PM NEWS, Lagos by cosify: 8:36pm On Jul 12, 2013
cegno: No nation can have better leadership than it deserves. Our political leaders today are simply a reflection of the larger society. Most of us if given the opportunity I am sure will not do better than the people there today. We need to change our consciousness, we need to imbibe the virtue of selfless service and sacrifice without which we cannot move forward as a nation.
I understand your point in d context of a country like Nigeria , where corruption is d system. But there are still people who stand out, despite obstacles to right and sound morality.Such people are idealists. Will they be given the opportunity to be altruistic? Almost always no. Even if they are given d opportunity, you and i know dat idealism leads to nowhere but detention camps. Only 1 out of every 1000 would want to go there because human beings are naturally hedonistic. So in virtually all human societies,d many realists continue to practice their fraudulences on their gullible or indifferent fellow citizens.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Rated 8th Most Corrupt Nation- PM NEWS, Lagos by cosify: 8:08pm On Jul 12, 2013
It is far-fetched.In any case, how has that improved d living standard of d Nigerian masses. I think that in a country like Nigeria where there is institutional fragility, we should not b glorifying such ratings. It is gross betrayal if Nigeria tries to improve her image abroad while at home,an overwhelming majority of d citizens are wallowing in penury and an insignificant few in affluence.
