Beautiful but deadly – ‘The lap of Delilah



Prov. 14: 12, ‘There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.’

Judges 16:4, 19, ‘And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah….And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.’



It takes the mind that has a personal communion with the Holy Spirit to understand the devil’s plot and flee from the enemy’s bate.



The lap of Delilah was an altar where the anointing of a Nazarite was drained. What a terrible mistake! A man that was a Nazarite unto God from the womb; a man sent to deliver the children of Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. Lo, he ended his ministry on the beautiful, attractive but destiny-destroying lap of a strange woman.



Another lesson from the passage above is that the lap/knees of a strange woman is a place of affliction. Though beautiful and attractive but it’s very deadly.



Prov. 5:3-5, ‘For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.’



In the present days, there are different scenarios that symbolise the lap of Delilah. It could be that girl friend or boy friend you are having unholy relationship/affair with. Yours may be sugar daddy or sugar mummy to maintain your position or secure a promotion in your office. It could even be a business deal with a friend that seems to have a bountiful profit. My friend, if God does not approve it or it is contrary to His law, what you are doing is lying on the ‘lap of Delilah’ and will soon destroy your destiny if you don’t flee.
