Politics / See What Nigerians Can Do To Fix The Problems We Have In This Country by Ebube98(m): 8:40pm On Feb 02, 2023
But can we all agree that generally, Nigerians love suffering. A whole lot of Nigerians are seriously enjoying this no money wahala.

Because,

We have Momo PSB from MTN. A mobile payment system that works even with Nokia torch for people in rural areas.

We have Smartcash from Airtel , very similar to Momo. Momo has been working in Ghana since almost a decade. Ghanaians have been using it to drive their economy on micro, small and medium scale levels.

I just revisited that E-naira project and I discovered that even though the app didn't launch well, inviting a lot of criticism, that app has upgraded a lot in terms of functions.

You can now easily fund your E-naira wallet from your bank apps, ATMs or even by going to your bank.

There are a lot of solutions. Funding your E-wallet from your bank is free. Moving money and paying for bread and soap, is free.

Check the amount of cash you lose to POS withdrawals in a year and you will discover that if only Nigerians can open their eyes and adopt the easy life with technology, all these wahala will not exist.

Come to think of it, before the new notes palaver, CBN gave MTN and Airtel the license to create their own mobile payments solutions and push it out .

They did, Nigerians do eye like sey we no see am.

CBN launched their own E-payments, Nigerians shouted foul!

With a combination of E-naira and Momo, banks won't really be able to rob is that much in the name of card maintenance and alerts. Where will they see the money kwanu?

Omo! I know the government is really messing up a whole lot, but I sincerely wish that the next government in Nigeria will set up an institution that will go about educating people properly on the significance, pros and cons of certain government policies.

To avoid people refusing gold because it is unrefined.

Mhen! E be like we really need to go back and start forcing ourselves and merchants to use these tools. If dem talk sey dem no sabi, teach them.

If mama Obinna sey she no go progress by accepting Momo and E-naira, I no dey buy and that's her business.

Business / Before You Build That Startup Of Yours by Ebube98(m): 10:53pm On Oct 17, 2022
Whether you build in silence or build in open.
It doesn't really matter.

But understand this, if your idea comes ahead of it's time - it will FAIL. If your idea comes long before the market is prepared for it, people won't just even know what to do with your product.

Google+ tops the chart for one of the biggest failures in the world of software. At the time it was functional, Google+ was about the most complete and sophisticated social network.

Trust Google, these guys perfected Audio Rooms years before Clubhouse came into existence. Plus a whole lot of great ideas they threw into that app. But it failed.
It failed because the world of social media users were just not ready for such features.

Everything has a time and season. Your business should follow that time and season. As you disrupt, disrupt within the proper time and season, otherwise your disruption will fizzle out.

Most importantly... Sell the benefits of your product. Don't sell the product itself. Don't sell your brand.
People buy things for the benefits not the features.

No matter how fancy your ideas are, if people can't find an immediate use that will make them clamour for it.
You're on a loooooonnnng thing.

Better find a different idea, or move to a different market (in another country).

Business / Before You Go Into Crypto/forex by Ebube98(m): 7:50pm On Sep 29, 2022
Going into forex/crypto/stock trading full time without a strong alternative source of income is a perfect recipe for financial disaster.
Let me talk about Forex...

I have been with a friend who trades forex and I've watched him lose over $1000 dollars in barely 40 seconds on AUD/JPY market.
Money he borrowed from people , thankfully they were his siblings.

See, the forex market trades over $5 - $6 trillion dollars a day, but that doesn't mean that money is yours. It's dicey. It's a place where you can win big today and lose all tomorrow.

Forex is a business you do not do on a hungry stomach. Believe me, it won't end well.

Forex is a business you don't do full time EXCEPT you're highly liquid and you have so much money you can afford to hedge your trades, trade on extremely low leverage and still come out with impressive profit margins.

Forex is not something you delve into immediately you graduate from computer science department.
Forex is not a business where you give your money to some self-acclaimed guru to be trading for you while you expect steady cash flow.
E go surely cast one day. For real

There is money in forex, crypto and stocks . But you won't see that money if you're trading on a hungry stomach.
You won't smell that money, if you haven't handled and properly managed solid amounts of cash you made from other sources.
You will win today, lose all tomorrow. Build up again. Loose all tomorrow. The market no get joy.

So... Get a job, learn a skill, offer a service, sell something.

Then when you dun chop belleful, your daily job can provide your basic needs. When you are making a good amount of cash steady, like clockwork.

You can calm down and trade forex and crypto and stocks too - gently building wealth one small trade at a time.
My friend quit full time forex trading years ago and delved into building expert advisors and trading bots.
Since then... His life has been free from a lot of frustration.

A word is enough for theeee...
Phones / Is Apple Really Not Innovative, Anymore? by Ebube98(m): 11:10pm On Sep 12, 2022
I've been hearing a lot of people talk plenty stuff about how Apple is re-casing and shipping out the same phones every year with little innovation.

Smiles...

You see, Apple is a company that was created to build products that will meet the standards of a specific category of people ALL THE TIME.

Apple is one company that has never created any innovative stuff except there was a dire need for it in the market. Apple doesn't build stuff to "catch your fancy", Apple builds stuff that are extremely useful.

Apple was the first company to ship out fingerprint sensors on phones, on a commercial scale with the iPhone 5s. The didn't introduce the tech because they were in some rat race for innovation or something.

The introduced it as way of securing phones easily without putting the stress of remembering complex passwords. An old woman with partial amnesia, facing an episode, with her hands shaking could use her fingerprint to unlock her iPhone and call 911 without having to remember which one of her children's birthdays she set as the password.

Apple "reluctantly" moved to a 3-camera set up because it practically became impossible to meet up with standards of modern smartphone photography with just 2 cameras.

Apple is one company that has been know to innovate with fully functioning features (no need for adjustments etc). Apple has never had to recall devices they've already shipped for issues like batteries exploding in peoples hands, or malfunctioning micro sim ports.

When they build, they try to make sure its perfect. Two years after Apple shipped a fingerprint sensor directly mounted on a button, Samsung and other manufacturers were still struggling to perfect that technology.

In fact, to avoid stress, they just put it at the back.

Apple did it once and it caught on.

So the question is... what's your definition of innovation? Do you want a transparent phone? Or do you want a phone that can project a colored display on walls with a tiny projector mounted at the back?

See, all these phones existed. Chinese, Korean companies have built samples and MVP s around these tech, but they are still young and unproven.

You can't expect Apple to jump in and grab the tech and release a transparent phone or something like it in one year. If it happens, it will be disastrous.

Even the the fold-able phones Samsung has, they started working on it since 2016 and it wasn't till last year they just managed to perfect it . Before now, plenty people had been reporting issues with the hinges and how cost of repair for the screen particularly, is something else.

But I see no reasons why I would buy and carry something twice thicker than Nokia N72 in 2022 in the name of double screens. Are we going forwards or backwards?

Till now, I'm yet to see any real use for the "edge screens" Samsung put in their phone.

Besides, a lot of smartphone designs you have now on most Android phones were actually copied from iPhone. The bazelless design that makes it look like your phone is all screen and no frame, was first implemented commercially by iPhone.

Apple is one company that will never tell you if they are working on a fold-able or transparent phone.

They just build, test, once its completely ready, they drop it like hot akara (an indigenous African snack made from beans flour) , sending the market into frenzy. But in the meantime, the much they can do is keep the business going by upgrading what is already available and making money to pay their team working on new stuff.

Or do y'all have better ideas?

Before Steve Jobs left, he warned that people will get tired of Apple overtime, if they wait for "a new feature" for too long. However, I don't want to believe that the company's shareholders have forgotten his warnings.

I believe while their CEO, Tim Cook is bringing in the cash, their engineers are cooking something he could use to bring in more cash.

Finally, we all want innovation, but we are not ready for every kind of innovation.

I remember Samsung once build a phone that had a projector, the phone was ahead of its time... but the world wasn't ready. It failed.
Samsung projector phone Ebube Emeka

Google came up with the brilliant idea of smart glasses which was like having your smartphone converted into glasses. Very sharp, but it failed and fizzled out.

Samsung once had "women bras" equipped with solar charging facility for women sunning themselves on the beach. pffs... It fizzled out.

At their level, and with they structure and trust they have, Apple can't afford to ship a flagship product that the world isn't ready for.

Business / What You Need To Know About Amazon KDP by Ebube98(m): 7:33pm On Jul 01, 2022
The trend is growing and spreading. But no matter how easy it has been presented to you. Please be ready to roll up your sleeves and work.

Now here's a brief:

Amazon is an Ecommerce store that sells a whole lot of things on a global scale. They also have a section dedicated to selling books too.
Creating an account on Amazon to publish your books is completely free. Uploading your books is completely free.
When you make sales Amazon deducts a percentage for taxes (maximum of about 30%) and gives you the rest.
Now, publishing books on Amazon is the easier part. Making sales isn't that easy. You don't just publish ANY kind of book on Amazon and expect people to buy.

People go on Amazon KDP to buy books they feel will be interesting. So if you don't publish what people want to read... Your book will sleep on Amazon without sales.
There's also a part of Amazon KDP where you publish low-content books.
Could be:

A collection of short stories

A collection of facts

You could summarise books with larger volumes into 7 paged E-books

Workbooks for kids

Diaries and activity/log books

Kiddes comic books

These are samples of books that are selling crazily on Amazon.

Publishing books like these do not really require intensive writing... Just know what the market needs and know what to do.
There are also a bunch of other things you need to know, like:
Writing books in niches that are profitable.

Picking the right titles and description. Using keywords that have been picked to ensure your books position properly when people search for books.

Picking the right cover design for your books
Picking the right price for the right kind of book

These are aspects of Amazon KDP that can control the emotions of people and make them buy your book.
You also need to know stuffs like how to write books around trends. Just the way bloggers and YouTube creators write books around trends. Books created around trends sell a lot more.

How to advertise your book and not only depend on organic traffic.
Well... These and more are things you need to know Shaa.

Problem is, I've heard people talk about reading around Amazon KDP and watching YouTube videos.
Cool... I've watched a lot too, but except you're willing to spend a whole lot of time doing intensive research on these things.

You might not even know that they could be the reasons those books you have on Amazon have not sold more than $5 in the past 5 months.
My recommendation: Get a good course. I don't sell any but you can email me for some recommendations.

If you feel this was worth the read, share to make other aware.
Programming / I Want To Start App Development? Here's How To by Ebube98(m): 1:14pm On Jun 28, 2022
If you really want to build mobile apps, there are two MAIN routes:

1. Native

2. Hybrid/crossplatform

Native

Native apps are original apps build with original technologies that have been specially created for the particular mobile OS.

If you want to build android native apps, consider using Java or Kotlin . Both languages are similar and run on the same engine. Kotlin is gaining more popularity as it is now possible to even build native iOS apps with it.

To build IOS native apps , you will need to work with either Objective-C or Swift. Both are also very similar and if you have experience with c++ it will be easy to pick up.

Hybrid

Hybrid apps are apps that combine elements of native apps with web apps to create an experience that is as close to native as possible. To build hybrid apps, their lots of technologies out there. But the most recommended are: Flutter and React Native

Flutter is a framework or a system of tools that help you build nice android and IOS apps with language called - dart . Flutter is a great framework because just like most hybrid app development methods, you can write the code for the app once and build it for different operating systems like android, iOS, Mac, Windows, Linux.

So, instead of writing separate codes for the android and iOS versions of a mobile app. Which will take a lot of time and expertise. I can write the app in one language and optimise it to work differently on different platforms.

React Native is just like flutter but it works on Javascript. So you must know a lot of Javascript to build apps with react Native.

You might ask, which is better? Native? Hybrid? Flutter? React?

Well... it depends.

Native apps perform better than hybrid apps, they are more efficient and their app sizes are smaller. Although, everyday, a lot of efforts are being made to optimise hybrid apps and make them match native apps in terms of performance. But I will advise that if you plan to build a heavy duty app (like a gaming app, or some graphics/video editor, browsers), Go native.

But if you're building more general purpose utility apps like social networks, navigation apps, you can work with hybrid solutions. Your favorite apps like facebook and instagram were built with React Native.

Google has a lot of active apps, built with flutter.

As for which is better , between flutter and react native. Anyone is cool. Just pick anyone you're okay with.
Programming / Re: I Want To Go Into Application Development. Between Java & Python? by Ebube98(m): 1:10pm On Jun 28, 2022
I'll do my best to give a brief but comprehensive answer.

First... what do you mean by application development? Do you mean mobile app dev? Or you want to build desktop apps? Or web applications?

If you mean mobile app development, and you are serious about it then Python should not even be considered. Yes, you can build android and possibly iOS apps with Python frameworks like Qt and Kivy. But it only makes sense if you're doing it for pleasure or to prove a point.

1. Native

Business / How To Make Money With Google Maps And Google My Business In Nigeria by Ebube98(m): 12:43pm On Jun 28, 2022
If you're a business person, don't play with the exposure Google Maps can give to your business.
It works like this:
Everyday people go online to look for people who can help them with certain services. Everyday people go on Google to search for the contact details of plumbers, event planners , caterers and even sharwarma shops around them.
When they search for these services, Google suggests businesses that have been listed with them.
For example:
Esther runs a real estate agency. Esther can go ahead to list her business on Google maps , with her contact details and office address.
When people are looking for real estate agents within that location... Esther's business will appear on the list.
Same for Jude the tailor.
Nneka that sells crocker fish.
Mrs. Obi and her primary/secondary school
Listing your business on Google can have you receiving calls from complete strangers who found you on Google and want to do business ASAP.
If you run a business, don't sleep on it. Get someone to help you set it up. Or you could send me and email and I could teach you... And a few other things at an extremely low price.
Check the picture imagine your business being at the top of the list on the first page when people search for whatever you do.

Science/Technology / Starlink Finally Approved In Nigeria. Here Is What It Means For Nigerians. by Ebube98(m): 9:24pm On May 29, 2022
In case you don't understand what it means when you hear that StarLink has been approved in Nigeria.

Here's what they mean:

StarLink link is an internet service provider. It's a company owned by Elon Musk.

Yeah... That guy that has "potentially" been using twitter to chase clout and catch cruise.

Alright... Elon Musk's company has this way of distributing internet. Unlike MTN, Glo and Airtel, they don't need masts and wires laid in the ground.

They don't need to settle agberos to set up infrastructure for Internet distribution.

No, the pump it in directly from space and into your dish. Very similar to the way DSTV works.

Over the heads of all the kwarrupt people in this country.

So yes, it will work with Dishes and receivers but it will be a little bit more portable than DSTV. Elon has promised to shrink it and make it smaller to be carried in a car.

But it won't be some portable thing that will fit in your pockets. It's still big and it will serve offices and homes.

The internet is fast (currently it's offering up to 200MB/secs in the US). We don't expect anything less than 20MB - 50MB per second when we start using it here.

Which is hooooooge! Compared to the yeye 4G MTN and Airtel has been using to make noise on our heads wey no dey pass 2mb/sec .

We expect pricing to be somewhat of "Nigerian standard". If you read my post yesterday morning, you would understand this better.

So far... It would be a great option for people who consume a lot of data at a spot (either at home, work or streaming events).

Elon abi StarLink will probably give MTN a run for their money.

Serious run.

The interesting thing is that Amazon has joined in the race and they've started theirs.

Still another option. Be like very soon, the office MTN and others open on our heads unto data matter go just close forever.

And yes! New job opportunity dun open o! Go and learn StarLink dish installation now! Them no go teach you this one for school.

I love it. ☺️

Career / Geopricing And Why You Should Charge Clients Based On Location by Ebube98(m): 1:22am On May 28, 2022
Freelancers and Entrepreneurs,

In the US, the cheapest Netflix plan costs $10 (about N6000)

In Nigeria, the cheapest plan costs N1200.

There's a reason why multinational companies "have an offer for everyone" in developed, developing and underdeveloped regions.

Not everyone in Nigeria might be able to afford that your course or service priced at $1000 .

That is because we're in Nigeria, an underdeveloped country where the minimum wage is a little above $70 PER MONTH.

Where 90% of it's citizenry live on barely $3/day and spend over 50% of their income on food.

So... Don't feel guilty when you charge people in more developed countries higher.

If your course is sold to Nigerians for $3 (N1800) and sold to Oyinbo people for $10 ....

E no bad.

Serve a few premium clients, charge them well... But have something smaller to include everyone.

If you would like to learn great skills that are in demand by premium clients abroad and will earn you a few dollars from foreign clients...

You can drop an email

Computers / Never Bet Against Tech by Ebube98(m): 6:56pm On May 18, 2022
Never bet against tech... E get why

A while ago I watched the video of Bill Gates being mocked by a TV host for believing in the internet as far back as the 90s.

The TV host just like a lot of observers at that show could not believe that the internet would grow to replace all the analog means of transmitting and storing information that he listed out.

Even though during the video he(the TV show host) commented that it is very easy to criticize what you can't understand.

But looking back at the mentality of 90s people through that video, it is easy to understand why humans find it difficult to imagine the future. Only few are crazy enough to.

The guy was all about how powerful telephone is and how the "troubled chatrooms" as he called them would not be able to replace conference telephone calls.

People were laughing. It's a mystery how Bill Gates maintained composure.

In the 90s people saw emails as a big joke. "Like! For crying out loud, what happened to post offices and fax!".

The internet was there but it's content was so underdeveloped it was normal to hear people who felt they were doing something serious with their lives say things like: "You expect me, a businessman pursuing so much to be wasting my time on the internet?"

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and a lot of other people were mocked for believing that the internet will amount to anything good.

Well things are different now. In the next 20 years? Things will be a lot different. You might not really understand if you don't follow trends and innovations.

ATMs came into Nigeria officially in 1989, but it wasn't until 2003 or so that they started gaining popularity. Right now, any bank branch without functioning ATMs will have angry customers.

ATMs replaced a lot of bank staff.

As far back as 10 years ago, retail shops in Germany were completely run by just cameras and robots. You walk in, pick your stuff and pay at the counter with no human being in sight except you.

Same with filling stations. As usual, our country is far behind but I pray that when this tech arrives Nigeria, it won't take the job that puts daily bread on your table or put your kids who will studying courses that lost relevance 20 years before at risk of hunger.

Be it crypto, Blockchain, FinTech, NFTs, AI (you'll be funny to bet against this one) , whatever it is... Don't bet against tech.

I know wetin I dey see.

If you're interested in tech, I would suggest you head over to pdfdrive dot com and download the book - Visions , How Science Will Revolutionize The 21st Century by Michio Kaku

Still remains one of my favorite books of all time.

Read and open your eyes to see what some people are seeing.

For example... Check the image attached to this thread.

You could send me an email if you would like a course that would help you get started with web development

Family / The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences And What African Parents Need To Know. by Ebube98(m): 4:39pm On May 06, 2022
That your child or younger sibling doesn't have a dull brain.

Nah, far from that. You possibly do not understand that child and you think everyone must be academically smart at his age.

I'll explain.

In his book "Frames of Mind" - Howard Gardner, a psychologist, postulated eight(cool types of intelligence found in kids. Each representing how that kid processes information.

1. Spatial intelligence : Kids in this category love visuals. They draw for fun and they can imagine for Africa. They are by far the most creative and imaginative. They think in several dimensions and they are very good at imagining themselves in any situation or place.

2. Logical/Arithmetic intelligence : They are good with math - on paper. The solve problems accurately - on paper. But depending on just this form of intelligence alone, a lot of them can't go beyond classroom exercise. They find it difficult applying all that math power in real life challenges.

3. Body and Kinesthetics intelligence : They are the dancers, models, actors and choreographers . Yeah, those ones that are always lifting their younger ones up and giving them smackdown.

You'll be downstairs and you could be hearing "gbim! Gbim!" Upstairs. Plus a whole lot of animal growling - na wrestling dem dey do.

4. Musical intelligence: We know how easy it is for these ones to learn drum and keyboard within the span of a 3-week holiday.

5. Linguistic intelligence: They write, they speak. Yeah, others can do these things too, but they do it EFFORTLESSLY. No stress, writing essays comes in a snap. You can't beat them in a debate and forget about winning them in an argument.

The guys have the unique ability of using words they've only encountered once in their lives ,several years before. They use the word and they are like "It's been long I used this word but it should be the right word".

You would be a classical "phool" to go against a feminist with high Linguistic Intelligence.

6. Interpersonal Intelligence: Very sensitive to moods in an environment. Always gunning for self preservation and they can comfortable live as roommates with the devil himself

Such is their skill at controlling the direction of their relationship with people. These people can brother/sister zone you and you'll happily be "mumu-ing" yourself on top love.

7. Intrapersonal: They understand themselves so much and they love to be by themselves. The always act like they have it all together and truly, they usually do. Coordinated, and then dey carry everything for mind.

The day they open up to you and you betraythat confidence. W.a r! Speaking from personal experience.

8. Naturalistic Intelligence: I have a friend like this. Dude has so much interest in nature. Insects, plants, herbs and he loves fresh food.

He knows the native name of almost all the plants and insects and something his grandfather or grandma used to do with them.

Charles Darwin - The first postulator of Evolution theory exhibited this from a very young age.

You see,no child is dumb. It's just that we smart ones have in our dumbness built systems that do not encourage these other forms of intelligence to thrive extensively.

When you try the conventional methods of teaching a child and it is not working. It makes sense to take a step back and try to understand that child.

Growing up, I had issues understanding math quickly. I actually began to understand math when I started programming. I began to solve math like a computer would solve math.

That child doesn't understand math, have you tried his writing abilities? There has to be one thing the child does so well in and between the guardian and the teacher, whichever one you are, someone has to discover it.

Take the picture below, enlarge it, print it and paste it somewhere.

Programming / What You Need To Know About Nfts As A Nigerian. by Ebube98(m): 10:55pm On Apr 13, 2022
In 1500, Leonardo Da Vinci created a masterpiece of a painting.

In 2016, it was sold for $450m . After a heated auction. Making it the most expensive artwork ever sold.

In 2022, I downloaded a high definition copy of the same artwork for... FREE!

See... Humans just have this love for ownership of original things. Especially when the resources are there to buy them.

Growing up, and even till now. One thing I hated so much was stumbling upon someone wearing the same kind of T-shirt or dress I own. I would likely not wear that dress ever again.

I fit even curse the person wey I buy am from.

This... is what drives the sale of rare art all over the world. This is the idea behind NFT.

I have a picture of Da Vinci's paintings, I could even print it or use it as a wallpaper. But... I can't brag with it.

I can't proudly show it off to visitors that I bought it for almost half a billion dollars. It's fake. Damn fake and it just like any other colored image on the internet.

But you see as I dey, if I should buy an artwork for N1m , my neighbors won't hear the last of it.

When you take a picture, or you record some piece of music (a rendition or something) and convert it into an NFT.

First you would have to upload it as a file shaa.

It is marked with a unique ID . A unique electronic certificate of ownership is created and whenever someone buys that NFT, the person's name is imprinted on the certificate, as the bona fide owner of the artwork.

Okay... Let's make it clearer. If you own a BVN, NIN or Account Number. You're an NFT.

Yeah, you're a Non-Fungible Token of the Government or the banks.

That ID is yours and it is unique. It identifies you as a citizen or a bank customer. Forever.

So how do you mint an NFT. It's quite easy. Get your NFT ready. It could be an image, a video, an EBook, a URL address or audio.

Check the first comment, I included a short video guide to help you mint.

But there's an important thing you need to know. This is NOT like your favorite ponzi platforms. It is not a get rich quick scheme.

It involves more than just uploading pictures you took the last time you were "Assaaaad". You will SELL. You will promote your work.

You will need to put in efforts building a community. You would have to prove the worth of whatever NFT you're selling.

Otherwise, your NFT go dey there till the platform it is listed on gets tired and kicks it out.

Your NFT needs to have a story or inspire stories in people's heads. It involves a lot of creativity to sell those stuffs.

The idea is to sell that item in it's origin form, the NFT part comes in to being a touch of the latest trend.

Anyway, I sha dun run go mint my own NFT. Don't bother asking, the picture isn't original but it is backed up by a story. ‍♂️

Recently, I discovered some untold truths around the misrepresentation of some deities in Yoruba and Igbo folklore.

Few weeks ago I checked out a few things around the deity "Ekwensu" - originally the god of mischief and illusions. The Greek equivalent is Arés.

But that's a story for some other day.

I've already minted my NFT around the myth of the deity and I've added it to my "African Griot" collections.

I just need make person just buy one. I go quit coding ASAP. Declare to run for presidency.

Also whats even the difference between coding and programming?
Pls help a friend..

There should be various places to learn programing. Check out tech hubs in PH.

But if you're a newbie in tech, I would strongly advise you start by learning web development with no-code platforms like WordPress.

Give yourself that soft landing first. Understand how tech and the internet works.

You can now proceed to learning programming fully with back end languages. I have some very affordable materials that could help you on your journey

Not wise statement.
So when the new graduate go for nysc?

NYSC should be the first because its compulsory, you have to still go one day.
You go for it and after then face the future wholeheartedly.

I'm not against going for NYSC and besides NYSC isn't compulsory. You can always get an exemption.

If you're posted to Maiduguri for NYSC, I would strongly recommend for you safety that you respect yourself and look for another career path that won't need NYSC cert and they are many!

I'm more focused on having people change their mindset

Career / The Power Of This Thing Called Internet And Why Nigerians Are Not Using It Enoug by Ebube98(m): 9:59pm On Apr 09, 2022
This could be long but then...

Omo... The internet is damn powerful o!

Two years ago, I got a contract to build a website for Fork In Nigeria. A Nigerian food truck in the US.

It was during the pandemic lockdown and the business was just about to kick off. Well, African dishes were common in the US, before then and of course there were other African restaurants.

But this was aimed at bringing just core Nigerian indigenous foods and snacks to the US. Including the supreme Egusi and Fufu.

We set up the website, payment platforms, social media pages, started social media campaigns. Business began and we started servicing orders.

From dashboard stats, the business was going fine and was in profit. Orders were coming in, we were building a traction one foothold at the time within the black community online.

But then something happened... Or let me say...

TikTok and Instagram happened. LOL

If you follow social network trends fiercely, you would notice that TikTok trends hit an all time high during the thick of the pandemic.

So what happened?

I don't know who kick-started it, but somehow and from nowhere, Fufu and Egusi soup started trending on TikTok and Instagram.

It started with TikTok. It featured people from different races making videos of themselves eating Fufu with Egusi and Vegetable soup.

Whites, Asians,Blacks, Jamaicans (these ones carry am for head ). Nigerians came up to prove that Fufu didn't end with Egusi soup. There was Amala and ewedu trend too.

Come and see black American ladies with extremely long artificial nails , dipping hand inside "akpu" and drawing soup.

I don't know about other restaurants in US, but only one word can describe the effect all these had on ours - BOOM!

Sales skyrocketed. Orders were beyond what staff could handle that time.

Profit was crazy, in less than two years, my boss made the money he was hoping to make in five years.

Everyday we were getting stories of people driving several miles to buy "Fufu, Egusi and goatmeat". Even white people.

I made a post on Reddit (a social network) , about the restaurant.

Normally, Reddit doesn't allow posts that indirectly advertise a business.

But before they could flag the post it had gotten so much engagement and people had already gone to the restaurant, bought food and we're already dropping reviews.

They had to leave it with a warning.

It was mad... But it was mostly thanks to...

Just one trend... that took away all the stress of "gradually building" a community of loyal customers.

Just one trend and we broke even without sweat.

See, I always tell Wizkid FC and Davido people that - it's not like their favourite makes such badass music.

It is not because they make such kickass albums and that's why they top global music billboards.

Nah... Far from that. It's the power of leveraging on cross-cultural internet tools.

You see that app called TikTok? With Facebook reels, YouTube shorts and any other app that allows you play music at the background?

These tools have contributed immensely in hyping African music like c.r .a .z.y

From Afrobeats to Amapiano.

These days if you noticed, producers and artistes don't focus much on music quality any more. They just do music that can trend.

I call it "music for the gram".

That is what will make you see an old white woman who has never left UK before vibing to CKay's Nwantinti.

That is what will make you see Asians and Arabs vibing to "Alcohol" by Joe boy or doing the "Legwork" better than Zlatan and Burna Boy.

That trend is slowly making its way down to African art. The way it hit music, it's coming down to photography, poetry and visual arts.

Its coming down through NFTs

In a post I made I while ago, I talked about why Africans need to do this whole NFT thing differently. The African way.

I talked about how we need to progress beyond that rubbish of selling "pixelated ugly monkeys" in the name of NFT.

That time dun show. Globally, there's a slight shift and the light of interest is being shone on African artwork and photography.

Things are changing. One picture of an African child, maiden or scenery could make you money that will render your certificate in microbiology useless.

Years ago, the white man took off with art created by your ancestors.

Don't worry... You might soon be getting an opportunity to create and sell YOUR OWN art to the white man and it won't be stolen this time.

It's close... Don't miss it.

Two things rule this world, and ideas are not even included.

They are - TIME and OPPORTUNITY.

Few weeks ago, a phone photographer - Adisa Olashile took a picture of an aged talking drummer.

It sold for a little over a million and the old baba got a cut from it(N500k).

The guy has gone full weight on NFT with his photography and he's getting bids on his other pictures.

Amazingly, he does it with just his smartphone and Adobe Lightroom mobile app.

C.r.a.z.y huh?

It's just the beginning. More are yet to come.

Career / When You Leave School, The First Thing On Your To-do List Shouldn't Be NYSC by Ebube98(m): 8:38am On Apr 08, 2022
When you leave school, the first thing on your
to-do list shouldn't be going for NYSC.

The first thing should be loosening up your mind.

Stay with me...

An experiment was conducted with an elephant. The elephant was chained and tethered in a way that it could neither go free, nor afford much movement.

For weeks, the animal struggled but couldn't free itself. Until it finally accepted it's fate and decided to settle into the new life of bondage.

One day, the chains were removed and replaced with much weaker ropes. The elephant was tied in the same fashion with the ropes.

It shocked people around to see that the guy didn't even make any moves to break the ropes at all. In fact, the chains didn't just do a perfect job of holding him down, the chains held down his mentality.

With a single swipe, that elephant would have torn the rope into shreds, but its spirit was already broken. Look, the goal of this system isn't to give you a life you deserve. This system was built to oppress and suppress your dreams.

The sooner you realise it, the better. I cringe when I hear that first class, second class upper and whatever class graduates are earning N30k monthly and working 5-6 days a week.

Transporting to work and returning late.

With all the inflation? All the frustration?

Not cool at all. E no make sense

But you see... The system might drag you, rough handle you, beat you, injure. But don't allow your mindset to be chained.

There's this guy I follow here. He teaches maths here. The guy has this way of teaching maths and furthermaths principles such that even people who don't have a strong foundation in maths will understand easily.

Esomnofu is his name.

But aside his teaching techniques. I'm impressed with the way the guy leverages on the internet to build a business out of his teaching career.

He runs a YouTube channel, live streams on Facebook and Instagram. Sells small, affordable courses to secondary school students in and out of Nigeria.

He sells CDs in bulk to schools. He also gets invited to handle students from different schools around Nigeria .

Meanwhile... his comrades and colleagues, some who could even be better at teaching than he is , are scattered around Nigeria complaining that the government isn't paying salaries.

Oga is there, collecting funds from different sources proudly sponsored by the internet.

The point is... Focus a greater part of your energy thinking outside the box. Get creative, drop your academic knowledge and certificate for now. Go and learn very relevant skills.

Education is different from enlightenment and exposure o. Exposure is gained from practical and first-hand experience.

A lot of people will leave for camp this week, and after the next 3-4 weeks, majority of them will be earning the first salary they ever earned in their lives.

It will continue like that for one year. A lot of people will forget themselves and think it will last forever.

Some will think that, once they are done, a magical job of N250k/month will be waiting for them.

Just a handful will be lucky. The rest will be forced to face a very harsh reality check.

A lot of them will earn N33k/month for one year, and come back to earn N27,380 (after Tax)

I've seen it happen a lot.

Start unlearning the rubbish you learned in school. Especially the people who studied those courses that can "give you work anywhere".

Start building meaningful connections. Begin dey show your face.

The illiterates of the next generation won't be people who can't read or write .

But people who can't learn, unlearn and relearn things. Open your mind, embrace courses. Go for knowledge, keep taking in. Gradually work on implementing what you've learned.

I will never get tired of saying this - LEARN HOW TO SELL. This is not for people doing internet marketing alone. That guy that teaches maths, doesn't just know how to teach it. He knows how to sell his knowledge using 21st century tools.

His mates are out there thinking the only place they can sell their knowledge is within the walls of a classroom and it has to be for a salary.

Some of them have this unique way of teaching kids simple hacks to add and multiple big numbers. Some of them have tricks that could be taught to pupils to help them memorise the spelling of words.

Some persons here write the best short stories and poems. Learn how to package your stuff properly and sell online.

Whatever you do, don't be like his mates. Don't be like that elephant. Allow the system to bruise you and beat you, but win the battle in your mindset first.

Business / Re: How To Make Money On Fiverr: A Beginner’s Guide by Ebube98(m): 12:14pm On Mar 02, 2022
Before you jump into Fiverr, please know these:

1. You need a skill to sell on Fiverr. There's no free money there. None at all. You work for every dollar.

2. Don't rush into Fiverr, create an account and rush out. Stay online. This is because the more you stay online, the more the Fiverr algorithm takes you serious.

Set a reminder to regularly comer online on Fiverr. And when you do, spend 10 minutes on each visit.

3. Share your Fiverr gig link. Try to bring traffic to Fiverr. Keep doing it. Share it on social media, if you can run google ads please do. This will even speed things up for you and drag clients to your doorstep. The more you bring clients to Fiverr, the more Fiverr recommends your profile to more clients

4. Optimise your username , bio and gig details with there right keywords. Put in there right keywords, stuff you gig details with keywords. This is called SEO (search engine optimization ) and it is extremely effective . It pushes up your Fiverr ranking massively .

5. Also fill out all your 7 gigs. Take your time to do it. Don't create a Fiverr account, put in oner gig and run off. Don't do it, you won't be taken seriously by there Fiverr algorithm.

My own 2 cents.

If you need a lot more tips on how you can crush Fiverr and make steady cheese. You can send me an email. I can also teach you a skill you could use to offer services on Fiverr and earn good money .

Business / Linkedin Made Easy, Why You Should Start Building Your Linkedin Profile . by Ebube98(m): 11:33am On Mar 02, 2022
I was talking with a friend of mine recently. She said her dream was to get a job position at Google.

I told her to dust her social media profile and be more active on LinkedIn. She told me she doesn't even understand how the platform works and that the first time she entered there, she was confused for full 15mins, till she ran out.

Lol... See, a lot of people don't understand how powerful LinkedIn can be and the effect it can have on an individual. The first contract I got as a programmer that paid me more than N1m within 3 months, was gotten through LinkedIn.

The guy saw my post. Connected with me, checked me out on Facebook . From there to my WhatsApp . By the next money initial deposit had been wired to my account. Till date, I still get jobs from LinkedIn. I get offers to handle jobs remotely.

Some of these jobs, I push them on to friends who can handle them.

Getting jobs on LinkedIn isn't so easy, it requires you to patiently build your profile and connect with the right people - strategically .

But if you're a skilled professional, with something to offer, there effort will be worth it. Even if you're a student, or unemployed. You need an active LinkedIn profile. Opportunities abound there

In fact, you'll be better off growing your LinkedIn account, rather than carrying file and envelope up and down and catching cruise on Facebook and Twitter.

LinkedIn can help you achieve any or all of these goals:

Financial Goals…

Educational Goals…

Business Goals…

Career Goals…

Networking Goals…

Marketing Goals…

Employment Goals…
Academic goals (scholarships , internships etc)

All of these...

But you can't get any if you don't know how to harness the power of LinkedIn. This on its own , is a skill you need to learn.

Truth is, for a lot of people, LinkedIn was intimidating. The success stories there alone can make you feel like you're completely a waste of space. But once, you're able to harness relevant skills which include the following:

How to position yourself and your business properly to generate leads for your business and make huge sales,

How to build digital portfolios that will help you gain mind-blowing opportunities (like remote jobs), and network with top industry professionals,

How to create the right content to attract your target audience.

How to gain scholarship opportunities and access lots of free online courses,
How to attract business ventures and gain employment anywhere in the world.

And a lot more, you're good to go. I have a close friend who recruits remote staff for tech companies and he earns a good amount of money from the commissions. All the job offers come from LinkedIn

That platform is damn powerful if you know how to use it.

That's why I'll strongly recommend LinkedIn Made Easy. By Agbor Obinnaya. The book will grill you in detail everything you need to build the right connections, position yourself and your brand and make steady income from LinkedIn connections

The book is the most practical guide I've seen . So easy to understand and even a complete beginner will find it easy to navigate LinkedIn and actually start utilising it's tools efficiently within a very short time.

You don't have to continue missing out on job offers, scholarships, gigs, contracts and even clients and students littered all over LinkedIn seeking for your goods and services.

Everyday Internship and scholarship offers to study abroad circulate all over LinkedIn but the issue is... Do you know how to find them?

Do you know how to position yourself to get them?

These and more questions are answered in the book LinkedIn Made Easy .

I strongly recommend you try it out. You can send me an email of you need a copy. The author has given me the rights to sell the book at a discount price of N8000 . But it is for a limited time. I'm making it available to just 12 persons at this price. After which, I'll join the other distributors to sell it at N20k

The book also has a potent refund back guarantee . Just in case you're not satisfied with the content within the first 30 days of purchase.

I attached a few media about LinkedIn that you will find very useful . Recently, a young boy, an undergraduate of FUTO got the opportunity to be enrolled into Tony Elumelu's business mentorship class. All because of a single post on LinkedIn. His account exploded from less than 100 followers on LinkedIn to over 3000 in 2 days.

That's the power of LinkedIn Made Easy!

why then do Gmail always attach a warning message to every mail coming from them?

Because some people might have taken it upon themselves to run it's reputation down.

It still doesn't change the fact that the platform is just an affiliate marketing platform that pays it's affiliates for selling products.

As long as you can sell, you'll make money.

You're not paid for referring anyone. You're not paid to bring People. No, you're paid to sell courses

Also, the course might be too expensive for people who want to buy. It is currently N60k, but there is the SEDP affiliate marketing course which is sold by the same platform.

It is a cheaper alternative and will help you start up your affiliate marketing business in few minutes.

If you're willing to know more about this powerful course you can send me a message on Whatsapp (09030544003)
