Politics / Re: Nigerian Man Laments As N10,000 Electricity Unit Runs Out Within A Week (video) by emusbyz(m): 10:28pm On Sep 16
DeLaRue:
I personally don't have a problem with the price of electricity, though I can understand that the experience of those in Band A is probably different.

I have always used electricity judiciously, so any pre paid electricity I buy tends to last for a reasonable length of time.

I have always been fastidious about switching off all gadgets FROM THE WALL.

First thing I do when I get out of bed is to pull my curtains so I take advantage of natural light. So, most if not all internal lights are off for most parts of the day unless I absolutely need it.

If I am leaving a room and not returning to that room within 5 mins, I switch off the light. Lights in any room that is not occupied is always switched off.

These are just habits that have become part of my routine. I don't do them because of electricity bill, but it has a very positive effect on my electricity bill. I have not bought electricity for about 3 months now, so cost of electricity is really not an issue for me.

Many Nigerians use electricity wastefully because we have one of the cheapest electricity prices in the world. But that is going to change with the introduction of new bands.

All wetin be dey my mind to tell you eh... As I scroll down, I con see say others don tell you already.

Ikeja electric band A is beyond off and on bulb light. They literally come after your life.
Pray you don't ever find yourself there.

backbencher:

So, how would you then pay the farmer, transporter, wholesaler, supplier, miller, etc etc...out of that N6000.

What you are suggesting is tantamount to me suggesting that we should pay you a third of your salary instead of the whole lot.

Why I am making fun is that you people want cheap stuff, because you think that people should suffer loss so that you can have 50kg rice for 6000 naira?

No wonder your country is in debt. It really costs a lot in loans to keep things cheap.

Communist countries tried what you are suggesting now, and most of them went broke eventually.

Modified

Rice can never be 6000 naira for a 50kg bag for the simple reason that we don't have an economy that attracts forex and a strong Naira as a result.

Also, even then, rice cannot be as low as N6000 only. Rice price is determined by farmers, transporters, wholesalers and retailers., and millers. They determine the price they would sell rice to you so that they can make a profit.

Plus we import most of the rice we use. Cost of transporting the rice is another matter.

Modified 2

I don't support the rice pyramid. As far as I am concerned, Nigeria has a long way to go before we can call ourselves a major rice producer. Less than 10% of our agriculture is not mechanized, and we are not like Thailand and Brazil that have lots and lots of wetland...far more than we can ever hope for, to produce rice by the tens of millions of tonnes.

The point of my rant is that many Nigerians have this idea that things should be cheap to help the poor. That's not how an economy is run, and running our power and petrol industries on such a principle is why they are in a mess

Be there sounding like who knows what he is saying.
So when rice was cheap, who was paying for the farmers means of transportation and blah blah blah...
Bad policy is a major player of inflation caused by this yeye government. And that is because they are very confused and make unwise decisions not carefully thought through. See the mess it has caused, and you dey yarn opata.

He doesn’t have to miss the crusades either because the white cross bearing savages operate under the Dum Diversas and have enslaved, colonized, raped, and murdered you to their God’s satisfaction.
Their ongoing mental crusades have resulted in inferior creatures who wail louder than the bereaved.

Since we do know for sure that NNPC HR is following this thread, I just want to make a guess that they are enjoying the way people are unsettled about the release date. And this could mean that APL is very close. They just want to let it appear that all sources were wrong, and then unpredictably, we will just receive our APL. This will reduce the credibility of all sources thereby increasing the credibility of the whole recruitment process.
So when everyone is tired of sources, as it seems already, then will they release the APL.
My guess also is that to a large percent, the process is based on merit. However, we do know our country, FCC must play its role and that I guess will go through top politicians influence and/or top people in management.
The process is largely based on merit, FCC influence in used to balance everything so that no geopolitical zone is not properly represented.

So let your hope be alive and keep believing who/what you believe.

Remember, this is just a guess that came from personal meditation on the whole thing, comments, and sources.

APL is not far, just chill.

1. The lists have been ready two months ago
2. The selection was reasonably on merit
3. Calls will start rolling out hopefully next week.

Thank you

I know this guy is just guessing. There is no someone from anywhere. Why?
The list wasn't ready 2 months ago. If there was ever a list 2 months ago, it has been torn apart and a new one prepared or still in preparation.

Selection based on FCC is barely on merit.

Calls hopefully rolling out next week is just to raise people's hopes. Those who wants to hear something positive to keep them moving.

APL can come anytime or no time close. But I'd like to go with the word of the GMD, 'soon'.

The only thing I learnt from this is that US politicians crave power above all else. I mean, even before the impeachment was sent to their senate, Republicans who are majority already said they will vote to acquit trump. So what's the point. Nancy pelosi tried to ensure fairness, but at the end of the day majority won.

Bottom line, u can do as u please so long as u have power

That's what you get when you publicly vow to impeach the president few hours after he was sworn in. All your cases will be seen as witch hunt and political vendetta and not service to your country. Not even a defence of the constitution, especially when you openly ripped off an important speech a day before the senate vote. What people see is total hatred for Trump and not love for the country.

I am not surprised at Jarus ordeal. The reason is because not everyone wants this recruitment to end in peace. Some are aggrieved that they could not even go past the CBT stage hence they feel the recruitment should be scrapped. So sad.

Secondly, most recruitment in big organizations are usually done in secrecy because there are always too many candidates who know someone at the top. The moment they noticed that Jarus had posted the online. They ll screenshot and send to their connect who will start mounting serious pressure at the towers and this could cause bad blood. Usually when such situations arises, the first suspects are the HR staff whether or not they are the ones who leaked the info. Usually they don’t get sacked but they ll be moved another unit where they may eventually end up being frustrated.

By the way, this days, most organizations do force the staffs handling sensitive roles to sign oath of secrecy. I don’t know of NNPC tho.

Jarus personal info is on his website. I definitely know he would have recieved a lot of calls within this time frame and some staffs would have even called from the towers pretending to be an external person and demanding to know how he got his info. And from there it gets more complicated and frustrating.

I know the recruitment process will end soon for both GTs and EHs. Despite the info being leaked, it would not change much of the plans at this moment. Let’s all be ready to smile and dance for joy. Oga Jarus, epele oo. Sometimes being nice or liberal can land someone into trouble. U have tried.

This person has spoken not as one who isn't sure of what he is saying but as someone who knows more than what he has spoken. Thanks for the positive vibe.

The truth is Gej would have shined if he aligned with the masses .

All Nigerians from across the country supported him in 2011 , we see him as one of us in the seat

He chose to favor the same people that ruined the country

Having a good heart is different from governing a controversial nation like Nigeria

So I believe things wouldn’t have been better

For Pmb I and many want a change and we see him as an alternative due to the approach and assurance he gave during electioneering campaign

But the truth is !!!

It’s a hoax

The truth is that some persons didn't think with their brain how someone will make 1 dollar to equal 1 naira. nor did they on other ridiculously impossible promises. They were carried away with the word "change". We deserve the kind of leaders we get. May not be what we want, but what we deserve.

Guestlander:

The current crisis was manufactured by Trump to divert attention from his coming impeachment trial. He doesn't care about anybody. This killing will put a lot of Americans in danger.

You are very far. If you have truly been following the impeachment story, you would know that there is no threat from there to Donald Trump.

However, if you have read the New Yorker 2013 article on Suleimani, you would understand that Donald Trump is a bold president who took the decision that a normal politician wouldn't dare to take. True he risks a potential war and losing supports of some allies, but the step he just took is one that the US should have done long time ago.

The fact that the QUD forces have been labeled a terrorist group long ago justifies the fact that Donald Trump (ordering the airstrike against their leader who is also seen as a terrorist by the US even before Trump came into power) has not really acted illegally but just didn't play the politics as it was played.

So the question that should be asked is, what did the QUD forces do that made the US label them a terrorist group? What did Suleimani do that made the US label him a terrorist and a dangerous man?
Take note, the label wasn't put in there in this administration. It has been there long before Donald Trump came into power.

Let's just leave NNPC alone for the now. I'm certain that even the GMD does not know when the APL is coming out. I do not believe it is because of the court case. I believe there are a whole lot of things going on that we don't know about.
We only know what we are told, and they only tell us what they want us to know irrespective of the channel through which we get our info.
If you were interviewed, just keep praying and keep hope alive. These delays might just end up be for your favour and you are somewhere complaining about release date. For some persons, the list will not come out until their names are included. There must be a turning and turning until it is their turn.
Be an optimist, believe and pray. It will cost you nothing more than your faith. However, be focused on whatever you are currently doing. Don't stall your life because of the APL.
God bless us all.
