We'll be able to add new features on a weekly basis, because this code is truly ours.

Can you explain what you mean by HTML view? The new site is designed to look good on laptops and phones.

Am using a Laptop and it sure doesn't look GOOD on my laptop.
Been having serious headache since staring at this bland site.

SEUN
Honestly as a web developer I must tell you this site is poor. Yeah, it may have been optimized for mobile devices, but, we expected better from you and your team.
Better listen to the suggestions and do something about them before someone launches a better site and steals away your members + traffic + hits + revenue grin grin
See how facebook responds to criticisms of their changes, they take steps to effect major suggestions to still retain their growth momentum.

I don talk ma own. I go boycott this new site until it is improved, b4 man-pikin go blind.
And by d way, no ban me-o cos wetin i talk na true. grin grin

@Yawa-ti-de and @dhtml.

plz the answer to that is simple.
Team up with nevosys. His UI is far far better. All you need to do is increase the whitespace as u suggested and pump up the functionality.

I could actually take up your challenge, but am swamped with work I can't finish till end of January 2012.

I wish you guys the best and plz note that we do this bcoz we feel we should give the best we have to our country.
I applaud you guys.

Whether or not you guys get this one, I still doff my red cap to you!! grin grin
Politics / Re: 7 Same-sex Nigerians Demonstrate At Nigerian House In New York by gbconcepts: 2:56pm On Dec 06, 2011
Na this be their mama, Yemisi Ilesanmi.

She even started a petition for the Gays.
http://www.change.org/petitions/nigeria-stop-the-anti-same-sex-marriage-bill-decriminalize-same-sex-love

She claims to be Proudly Feminist, Proudly Bisexual, Proudly Atheist! on her website http://yemmynisting..com/

Let her come home and start her petition in Naija. We will gladly signup for "her"

Brace yourselves 40 wise men!

haba!
I can't believe remoranger, dhtml, yawatide and our other great brains are behind this, this, this,,
well let me just say 40 people & 30 days for this "prototype" is overkill.

This can be achieved in one hour with wordpress! I mean it in every sense.

The idea is noble, the concepts is good, but the product? the delivery??
Ouch! Double ouch!!

Even I who considers myself not in your league could do better!

I even took a look at your template on http://linkoprojects.com/template/nigeria/

What's to code in the backend if the site has no backend functionality (strike that comment, I know better).

But most frustrating, annoying, perplexing and downright bamboozling is why on earth the drop menu should disappear as I mouse over them 99% of the time in google chrome & firefox!

Also please let the nav text change to green on mouse over rather than red.

I prefer nevosys idea and concept though it could do with a little tinkering, but all round better than the "prototype". I think he should be given the job.

If you need to add some features, plz add a dynamic map of the 36 states +1 of naija.

Most importantly, don't rationalize or explain your shortcomings, gaffes, mistakes etc when you are bashed, simply saying "thank you' will even make people offer better suggestions.

Remember you may not be the 40 wisest but I sincerely commend your voluntary spirit. An engineer once lost his job to a mechanic simply because, the engineer was looking at the complexity of the problem while the mechanic was looking at the simplicity of the same problem.

Overall a nice try. put more effort. Score 40%, position in class 2nd after Nevosys.
Politics / Re: Ngozi Really Lectured The Senators, Now Confirmed A Minister by gbconcepts: 7:18pm On Jul 06, 2011
enyojo:

Concerning the issue of what to do to bridge the gap btw the rich and the poor, Ngozi said that she has personally gone over to Ariaria Market to interview the small-scale manufacturers/business boys there.
She saw one who had to melt his rubber for shoes on a stove!

She went to outline the necessary requirements which she termed 'buckets'
* First Bucket: Infrastructure (i.e good roads, etc
*second Bucket: Power
*Third bucket: Access to finance

pls let the 2nd bucket become the 1st and while at it can it be reduced to a "cup". maybe the PHCN tariffs may be reduced too.

Business / Re: Fucon & Chinese Firm To Build Industrial Park In Aba by gbconcepts: 7:03pm On Jul 06, 2011
In Aba? Ok. Let's wait and see.
If it is coming from T.A Orji, then it is one grand design to siphon money or follow in the footsteps of his Orji predecessor by taxing the apprentices in mechanic workshops and "shoe makers".

In Aba?
Ok. Glass industry nko?
Ok. Technology Incubation Center nko.
Ok. Independent Power Project nko. (though it is "independent", but still in Aba)

In Aba?
Abeg! God I dey pray. May it be true, In Jesus Name.
Business / Re: UBA Minimum Account Balance Now N25,000 by gbconcepts: 11:15am On Jul 06, 2011
@ okpara ugo. If their aim is to decongest the banking hall, and if people don't transact more than N25,000 weekly, then why did the same UBA offer free account opening some 2 years or so back. They even had the one you can open with just N500. Now how do they want someone who opened an acct with N500 to leave N25,000 in the acct?

As for me, I have reduced my money with them to N1,000. My friends are not far behind me. My wife too.

When they repent, we will repent too.

Just like Soludo is being evaluated and judged today by his actions and inactions, so will Sanusi tomorrow.
Let us play it cool my people.
I remember the uproar about 9ja joining the OIC some years back. Today do we even remember that?

Just watch what will become of the Islamic bank tomorrow.
But seriously speaking, as a businessman if the bank will advance me interest free loans and give me profit sharing benefits (without requiring me becoming a muslim - cos that's a no-go area), then I will be at their door in the morning with my application and I know many non-muslims will queue behind me.

Business / ATM Fraud Alert! How Prepared Are Nigerian Banks? by gbconcepts: 3:25pm On Sep 19, 2009
This is a wake up call to ATM service providers in Nigeria and Africa in general.
It is also an eye opener to you the readers of this post and all readers of my blog. (Those who do not know, that is).

Cybercriminals and Offline gangs are now using skimming devices to steal ATM card details of individuals and using it to milk such victims dry without such individuals knowing.

Many folks out there may not be aware that it is possible for their funds to be stolen electronically by stealing it from you at the ATM.
This process is called “skimming,” and it involves installing a card reader and a camera on the ATM. The card reader gets the information on the magnetic stripe on the back of your card, and the camera watches what you enter for a PIN and transmits the information wirelessly to the thieves.

So when next you are using an ATM machine, it will be a good idea to keep an eye out for these devices.
You may ask how do I know what to look for?
To get answers to these and more visit the link below.

See the video 'man gets busted by police installing ’skimming’ device to ATM'. See photos of what these devices look like and get free download of pdf document on how to I.D a skimmer.

Webmasters / Re: Nigerian Blogs by gbconcepts: 11:06pm On Aug 25, 2009
I think I have to agree with aderaskeey. Monetization of blogs is of the essence if we are to make the expected impact globally.
Monetize your blog, command greater traffic and you will see the world beat a path to your doorstep.

Unfortunately, I do not know how many local companies advertise on nairaland directly without going through google and that shows how we view our local efforts. If this were abroad Seun will spend his waking hours counting money, rather than moderating this site. Believe me.

As a website designer, I develop blogs and websites for others but never bothered to set up one for myself until recently.
The first I set up and abandoned because of lack of enthusiasm. Reason? I never monetized it. My blogroll had great bloggers that make large sums from their blogs but I never made a dime.

This taught me a lesson. Now I just finished setting up a new blog (without adsense yet) and because I have spent the last six months studying ways to monetize and commercialize the blog, I believe this one will come out great cashwise.

The blog is on www.gbconcepts.net/blog. I have the basic template up and no posts yet. You can critic it (Please pull no punches).

Removing this virus actually takes less than 60 seconds if you know how!

It's done manually.
With due respect to all the anti-virus developers, once this virus is activated it's usually difficult to stop it. It simply overwhelms the AV. But if the AV detects it before activation then it erases it like a kid erases Ice cream.

I have a post on this topic here: http://www.gbconcepts.net/forums/index.php/topic,7.0.html
It details step by step guide on this removal.

You can charge your clients hefty sums to remove it  grin, but remember me-o.
P.S Don't ever tell them you can do it in less than 60 seconds or no pay for you-o (as per naija mentality) wink

@seg, hope I no pour sand for your garri, but this is nairaland!
