Not really a pro like yungboss or Sienna and the rest but my research shows that auto-mechanics in Nigeria generally struggle with the 4.4L engine. I would go for the 3.0 as I feel it will do the same job and at least is more understood by those available to work on the vehicle should you need to. All that said, na you go really know wetin you fit carry and especially if you have an auto-mech that understands the engine. Good luck m8.

Shagati: Headlights

Lights are totally stock and in good working order.

(Not to worry, I will remove the hideous Euro style number plate thingie highlighted in yellow wink )

Please share new pix of the new number plate holder. Would like to do the same.... i.e remove the Euro style number plate holder. I have been thinking of the best way to do this as it appears the actual plate holder merges with the black trims at the top of the bumper.

Shagati: Moving the front tag to the right also seems to be popular in other climes

Will it be legal or do you reckon FRSC will have a fill day when ever you drive past? Putting the number tag on the right I mean....

Nice choice of car mate. My 318i just left for Lagos although after I ordered it, I was wondering if I should have gone for the 323 or 325... Either way I love this car. Hope you find something good and enjoy your car.

Dont do it. If you come out... you save your life and you also save yourself a chance to still have children in future. Seek help from an NGO and go away for a while, deliver your baby and take things from there. Good luck.

@ Trac.... your analysis are very strong but one has to also look at affordability. And believe me I understand the risk in buying cars you almost don't know the history off (Accident write offs put back on the road for the African continent, mainly Nigeria) but is there not a case for affordability? Will the fact that these (made in Nigeria) cars are tropicalised really matter should one get an equally clean and good vehicle based on imported used car (tokunbo) for a fraction of the naija made car?

The idea I had was to get a tokunbo of any of the above but not from the US and I was thinking others would have done what I wanted to do before. I am now wondering if importing a good used car is a good idea at all although money to buy brand new is another matter entirely.

This is an eye opener for me with all these tropical issues you guys are raising.... something I did't really consider initially in getting a car... thanks so much for pointing them out. One now has to wonder if its worth importing cars from Europe anylonger Is it?

Thanks... I didn't realise that there will be so much difference... but you have raised a great point with the tropical conditions of the cars. Just wish there was someone out there who use one to comment... thanks for your feedback m8.

@ freedom@last thanks for the advice. Is your E46 from Europe?
Car Talk / Re: BMW Owners' Forum by GrownMan(m): 7:59am On Mar 13, 2013
@ yungboss thanks for the pointers... its very helpful. I was running from the M52 because of the possible over heating issue that may kill the engine on the E46 hence my query. I understand there is an M54 which is better than the M52? Or should I just buy an European model and call it a day? Only that I dont want to buy a car and then start spending on engine wahala because its not used to the Nigerian weather conditions.
Car Talk / Re: BMW Owners' Forum by GrownMan(m): 2:36pm On Mar 12, 2013
Guys,

Please I want an E46 but I have been told some of the engines are aluminium blocks while others are steel blocks. How can I tell which is which? The advice is that the steel blocks will last a whole longer than the aluminium engines for obvious reasons.

Abeg make una advice o....

Thanks
