Properties / Re: Help: Crazy Nepa Bill In My New Apartment In Ibadan by hamzeiy: 5:24pm On Mar 30, 2018
Jawshua:
I got inspired to write and pursue this after reading this post here:

www.nairaland.com/4424406/how-customer-stood-ground-against/

Now to my story.

I moved to a new house in Ibadan in May, 2017. The building has 7 flats and I occupied one of the flats.

On moving in, the landlady told me that she already paid for 7 prepaid meters for each of the flats and they will be installing them as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the transformer of my area was faulty from May till December 25th, 2017. It was eventually fixed by the community, not PHCN (NEPA).

Then, in February of 2018, the man who collected the money for the prepaid meter brought some Nepa bills for each of the flats saying that we need to pay #3000 each for "loss of revenue". This fee is to cover for the power we're consuming pending the time that our prepaid meter will be ready.

Also, we'll be paying #2000 monthly per flat while our prepaid meter is processing.

I said no. The others tenants also stood their ground.

This man then went to bring more officials to justify his actions. This time around, they added that they can remit the money for us.

This is a new house and it's obvious that they are not being truthful.

The receipt they gave us is not attached to any meter number. No A/C no. Nothing. Just a stamp that contains a name and phone number.

I see this as daylight robbery and corruption because it's obvious that they are deliberately delaying the prepaid meters for their selfish interest.

What steps can I take to correct this?

These guys are threatening to disconnect my power supply. I'm not bothered because I use a solar inverter to power my flat.

I just want to let these guys know that they are wrong. I want to take this up.

I've the phone numbers, email address, and address of IBEDC. What are the steps to take before I write a petition and start this long process.
really?
2000 naira outrageous for a flat. have you wondered how much fuel it would cost you for a month using a generator.. their only fault is the bill that hasnt been given to you and i believe its because the house is new, the bill is yet to be opened that been said, by right youre not supposed to be given power until your bill is ready. i dont think you can afford to wait for that some your payment would be considered for loss of energy . finally if your meters are truelly working then you should have shown them a copy of your last vendin unless you use the old black analog meter which most discos dont use or recognise anymore.
though if you think they might not remit your payment appropriately go to their main office nd pay for the energy loss.. .other than that you dont have a case

oh brother, you're the type that assume there are moderate Muslims. The hard truth is, you're not a Muslim if you don't support jihad, the only means of expanding Islam. Let's not sugarcoat this. Islam believe less in evangelism or using conviction to convert new members. Their only tool is to put fear, subdue, conquer and if they refuse to convert, destroy and exterminate them. This is what Islam is built upon so any moderate Muslims you see out there are fighting jihad with their money and body language. Please I want to see your opposing points.

Sometimes i wonder how these set of people think, a person that dosnt even know the origin and truthfulness of his religion thinks he is an expat in islam, jihad principally and isamically means struggle for the sake of Allah (i care less about the meaning your brain washed self decides to give it)
Thus it is the duty of every muslim to struggle against his inner desires, worldly temptations, propagate and protect the religion from external aggression.
There is no compulsion in religion as stated in the quran but islam would not alow itself to be subdued, thats when we have the offensive jihad, when you attack muslims or islam principally because they practicing their faith you would be invaded, there is no sugar coating of it. Across islamic history territories where only invaded if they are hell bent on destroying the religion or refusing muslims within their territory to practice theirs otherwise we make a peaceful agreement with you, even at that we don't force citizens to accept the faith as the quran stated, the path of truth and guidance is clear from that of falsehood, its upto you to follow yours and whom ever is destroyed should have himself to blame while the successful one,s would thank Allah for His mercy.
As for the OP..the thread is intresting and educative as it is filled with lies.
Islam was part of the hausas way before the sokoto jihad,it was spread mainly through trades with the arabs, it was never forced on anyone neither is it our way to force religion on people like the Christians crusaders did in the past..we don't have to be bigots all the time

Who's the aggressor here? Who's going about his business peacefully and another uninvited evil guest appears to take his sleep away? You said you are not a good Muslim but bro, you are a good Muslim. Good and Islam are ironic to the word "good". To be a good Muslim, you must be a killer or support killers. And you've been caught doing the second here who also knows how many people you've killed in the name of senseless jihad?
Mr man if you arr sen.sible enough you should have realised that fulani herdsmen are mostly pagans, animist in particular and their activities have i no way been influence by islam. They see their animals as their way of surbival, these are people that cant even pray and dont know who the name mohammad s.a.w is, do attaching islam to their activities is not only a form of senseless bigotry but immature. If islam enciurages violent jihad as you all are brainwashed to believe nigeria would have been a living hell for everybody considering the populations of muslims faithful, infact we wont have non.muslims in our mid. So the reason we are together is not because we are cowards as obviously you should know that but because islam instructs us to live peacefully with other faith as long they do not attack us openly or secretly. Bestiality

Within the last six years, Denmark, Sweden, and a few US states have outlawed bestiality, or sex between people and animals. In some other countries, the act remains legal. In Germany, “erotic zoos” cater to the bizarre fetish , although intimate relations between humans and animals aren’t restricted to these “bestiality brothels.”

A farmer became suspicious when his sheep avoided human contact, so he installed cameras. Men were photographed trespassing on his property to have sex with his flock.

The practice is also legal in Hungary, Finland, Mexico, and the states of Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. In Alabama, 2014 legislation would have outlawed the act, but the governor vetoed it

ReinaFarine:

And any group of people that will not obey the laid down rulesnof an association should be ready to forfeit their membership. As a Nigerian she has the freedom of religion.

And please, I've never worn the 'lawyer's wig' before bit are you telling me that there is no way it can be fashioned to cover her hair properly so as to obey that part of her religion.

Like someone earlier said, Gandhi picked his turban over the right to practice law in a certain country. I think she should pick whatbis most important to her. God and her beliefs or Law and its rules.

It seems like a tough call, but if this thing be from God, he is going to give her something greater than NBA and Nigerians in general can ever offer. But of it is just her fanaticism manifesting, then I'm sorry for her.

The reason most Christians are showing this level of vexation over an issue not pertinent to them is because of the high level of partiality shown to northerners especially the Muslim. If an exception is going to be made for this religion even in secular and aristocratic organisation like the NBA, it is going to creep.to the banking sector, the NDA and little by little, the spirit of uniformity will die in areas where they should be important.

I really hope I'm talking to a matured and unbiased individual that will not be prejudiced because of the struggle at hand, but picture catholics with their swinging crosses, deeper life and their turbans, the Lord's Chosen and their Apron, and some alhajas the will want to.wear the full length hijab and even covering their face tomorrow, all of them got this instruction from the lord.

And contrary to what most Muslims think, these are not choir uniform but part of the day to day dressing of fanatical members of this religion and taking it off is akin to unclothedness for them too.

I am not an IBO person and definitely not in support of what the Biafran struggle has been made into but you and I know what the SE are fighting for is real. They are being marginalized and there contribution is taken for granted. They are not allowed to have a say in the direction of the country and despite generating more.revenue, they're given little allocation year after year.

And the reverse is the case with northerners. If this same set of people are allowed to change a very sensitive aspect of the law culture, then it safe to.say that the country is biased and more sympathetic to the needs of the Muslims over the Christians.

How many years have dlbc members been crying over the use of trousers for the compulsory service year. How many deeper life corp.members have rejected posting to breweries and other nicotine producing firm and have preferred lesser paying jobs in remote areas for the sake of.their faith? If the country has not listened to.the plea of these people for well over 30 years but will quickly readjust because of a different group of people, is the law then said to be fair?

If her only purpose of existence is to serve the Almighty, most beneficent and merciful, then I know she would fulfil that purpose better without the incumbrance of the law school.

Thank you
Oh pls lets stop being hypocrite and be sincere to our selves, the more of that the better for us as a people and country.
Its a fact that xtains have no issue wearing trousers, they do that while going to church yet a lot of your pastors see noting wrong in that (after all you are in an era of grace so why the sudden complain about biblical laws), bringing the compulsory Nysc way of dressing on this issue holds no water as obviously if you've served the country you would have notice we are the forerunners on our detest for trousers for females, its not a Christian. But its just a way to tell us " oh forget about this aspect of your faith after all we are also not practising ours"
As i said earlier it is better we know our differences and accommodate them otherwise we would keep going in cycles .....

No one stops her from wearing hijab. I accept, of is her right. And the governing body of the Nigerian Bar Association has a right to standard dress code and uniformity. We shouldn't encroach on their right to please her. NBA is not begging her for a position because of her distinguished performance and reputation. It is the other way around.

I read it was a screening (correct me if I'm wrong) if NBA said the reason for her disqualification Is because she didn't pass the physical appearance portion of the test, will you criticize them for it?

I want you to know it is not a Christian Vs. Islam Matter. It is NBA Vs. Firdausi. Christians didn't write that down in the bye laws. Just judge without sentiments and think of specific rules you set in your own home. If I as a stranger you're trying to help can't abide by them, will you change centuries of rules to please me at the expense of others?

Unlike that idiot above said... Being a Muslim doesn't make you above the law.
Very true being a muslim doesn't make you above the law, but any law that doesn't recognise our differences and religious way of life, the very purpose for our existence, such law is as good as dead to us .it would not obeyed. Do you know that your right ends where another person's right begins? Ask yourself why female Muslims who are bankers don't wear hijab to work. Do you think the NBA is there to play the religious card? Or you think there are no reverend sisters who were also called to Bar?

Somebody studied Nigerian law (not Islamic law) for 6 years and went ahead to disobey the same law. Just because she wants to be more Catholic than the Pope. I can only but wonder the kind of lawyer she would make. One that disobeys the laws of the land right from the day she was called to Bar.

Now look where her idiocy has landed her. She has successfully wasted 6 years of her life, just because she wants to be seen as a true believer of Islam.

Don't worry, when CBN calls you for a job interview, don't forget to wear your agbada /buba so that they will know you are an imam.
You are yet to tell me the laws of the land she trampled on, and what useless man made law that dosnt recognise other people way of life is a law that wont be obeyed.
That been said wearing agbada has noting to do with islam bith a way of dressing for the hausaz of nigeria so its something we can decide to change pending on culture and situation we find our self, islam tells muslims(not xtains pls) to dress responsible and the hijab is nt just part of being responsible in our women(not your women, yours can go ahead to dress with pants when civilisation tells them to)but an identification of faith. We are not going to bend our way of life to just to suit yours in the name of secularism or leaving in peace.
Its either we understand our differences and respect them our we keep hating each other. Both cases are good for us we are muslims not assholes, we will give peace when you want one but we wont beg you for peace, we would encourage tolerance when you tolerate us, we will never betray agreements made even with an enemy , we would not exceeds the limits of our creators on affairs just to make anybody happy..hijab is part of our faith and would never be forfeited for any reason

Bitter Truth About Lady Who Refused To Remove Her Hijab & So Was Denied Admission To The Nigerian Bar.

So as people keep on raving about the lady who refused to remove her Hijab when she was about to be called to bar, an eye witness, has shared what actually happened during the course of the controversy.

This eye witness, who shares his own view of the whole saga, happens to be one of the officials who screened the aspirants at that time.

He wrote:

I witnessed the baring of the lady from gaining entry into the call auditorium. Kindly note that I was part of the officials that screened Aspirants to the Bar on that very day and I participated in the entry screening for the four batches that were called on those two days.
J
I witnessed the whole drama … You don’t have an idea of the attitude of that religious extremist of a lady who was not ready to submit her personal sentiments to the rules of this profession. .. See eehh we have what we call “regulation dress code for ladies” in the legal profession.. The attire is clearly spelt out in our code of conduct book.. Hijab is obviously not part of it and you must deal with that obvious fact…

All our laws should not be bent for every wave of religious doctrines or practices… otherwise we won’t have a functional and fair law… My religion makes us believe that black represents evil..should I now wear white suit to law school or for my call to bar because of my religion?

There were over a thousand Muslim ladies we screened for the two days I was on duty ..why should her case be different ? We asked her to step aside and remove her hijab… Imaging about 5 law school lecturers from Abuja campus begging a mere aspirant to the bar to do the right thing and she bluntly refused. Pls we should stop giving this misfit of a lady an undue publicity for such an unpardonable display of crude rudeness to constituted authorities.

Denying her access to the call hall did not in any way violate her right to freedom of worship under Sections 38 or 39 of the 1999 CFRN , We all know that none of the rights enshrined in Chapter 4 of the 1999 CFRN is absolute. The denial was fair, proper and lawful. Note that some Christians prohibit wearing of trouser by ladies , but they allow their ladies wear it during their NYSC . Will you say they are not serious with their religion?

Pls we should all jointly condemn this misbehavior of the lady in question and put an end to this emotional sentiments we project here…

Buhari’s daughter during her call to bar last year… She wasn’t putting on her hijab ..but she wears it to any other places she goes…

I have met this Buhari’s daughter twice at Coscharis Office in Abuja and at both occasions she wore her hijab, but never wore it during her stay in law school or on her call day… The lady should go to court if she feels she is above the law or that Islam is superior our circular laws.

This country is not an Islamic State and will never be … If she is not ready to submit to the rules of the profession, she should as well go and study Islamic studies and bash her PHD in it.

I hope nobody will raise an eye brow if a Revd. Father insists that he should be called wearing his cassock and rosary? Hope you will be ok to attend a call to bar ceremony in the nearest future only to see a man wearing a red skirt decorated with cowries because that is what the gods have asked him to wear?

Do you know how many christians whose faith does not support the wearing of trousers but are compelled to do during the compulsory service? During NDA passing out parade, women (including muslim female soilders) cut their hair to the skin. No strand of hair is allowed on your hair let alone hijab. How many persons have challenged that?

The dress code for lawyers in Nigeria predates Nigeria. If you bend a little, you will have to continue to bend to allow other religions and faith at the end of the day the beauty of the profession will be lost. Law is not for all.

If you are too religious for law, try other professions. Law is not religious fanaticism. And we should also note that no attire co

@OP complete the story naa.

Oga
Wearing hijab is her fundamental right as a muslim. If Christians decide to wear pants to nysc thats their problem.
I wonder why Christians think they can tell us what and what not to do..the thing they scratch me for chest. How does a mad man expect to be a guide to a sane person makes me wonder?
In the world if islam buhari or whatever he calls himself with his entire family are of no importance, see if buharis children decides to go braless only a stupid person would think we should all go braless because of that.
I dont know why the issue of hijab is such a pain in the ass of Christians.

Like it or not. if the entire south unites against a united north, the south would still loose election unless the try to win sympathy votes from north central as the north central tends to go with the south at times otherwise a united northrrn nigeria cant be defeated either in a democratic election or in a military coup ask aguiyi ironsi, ojukwu and the rest of them. A wise politician would make a deal with north and thats what south west did in 2015 and south south is doing in 2019. I wont call south east because I know if not for wike the pdp convention would have gone to the south west. The south east are the most politically dull region in nigeria they dont know when to make and when to mar, and they take things to personal. Any emotionally driven person would always be defeated(we are mostly ethnic bigots in nigeria but other regions know when to hide theirs but the igbros dont)sorry to say but thats the fact.
Anyway as a northerner I know you all cant do it alone unless you break the middle belt from us and thats not going to happen with an igboyitic way of doing politics. You need to be politically matured to do that or you go get a crash course from north west or south west. come 2019 pmb would still win unless yoi get the north central and thats not going to be easy with an all APC governors in NC. Southwest is gone to APC thanks to wike and secondus, northwest is pmb block home, north east would rather die than to go back to the era of bokoharam, they feel the owe pmb infact. So except Allah does something different, pdp wont go anywhere come 2019 . I for 1 a middle beltan and northerner is not really happy with the way pmb is running the govt of today but with a party controlled by the likes of wike, Fayose , fani kayode??
Then we rather have pmb a hundred times. We would never allow our self go back to the era on open corruption and widespread bokoharam bombs

Yes..we love am die. We would repeat exactly what he did if your people repeat what they did prior to 1966. In fact this time around they would be a victor and a vanquished

The North after endorsing and deceiving Prof Adeniran turned around and abandoned him.

SW Region, after stepping down and choosing Prof Adeniran as a consensus candidate turned around and abandoned their own brother.

Now, our great party is now firmly in the hands of SS/SE/North.
The good thing is that you all know you cant do it without your masters in the north
