Programming / Creating Log Files For Users In Vb by Hayorbahmy(m): 2:33pm On Nov 22, 2007
I am trying to work on a program that would be able to save log files for each member of staff.
Mean while there would be like 20 staffs and they would log on with their user names, password and their rank would be in a combo box.

This is just the part one of the program it's still going to be integrated in to a database for stock taking.

Thanks in advance
Programming / Re: Post Ur Vb 6.0 Questions Here by Hayorbahmy(m): 2:04pm On Nov 22, 2007
Hey N'landers,
How would I search for a record in a database from the run time in VB 6.0
The database I used was Access. I would type one of the fields of the record in a text box and it would return the full details of the record.
I'll be expectin the reply

@kobojunkie

Nice one,I really appreciate that

But I hope u would be willing enough to bring along the young programmers too,so that they keep up the good work later on.
SO that Nigerian software industry wont just boom just to come down later just like the petrochemicals
Programming / Re: Where Is Nigeria In Software Technology? by Hayorbahmy(m): 5:19pm On Nov 13, 2007
@kobojunkie

You dont need to be dettered by the unseriousness of some developers all u have to do is to be focused and introduce your ideas to people you think are viable enough.
And I think we have plenty of em on this thread

Will be expecting your project pretty soon

Programming / A Bluetooth Software by Hayorbahmy(m): 3:16pm On Nov 12, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi. I am wondering whether you can produce software which will enable the sending of text, business cards, video clips and/or images via bluetooth to other ‘bluetooth’ enables mobile phones. The software would also need to monitor the volume of messages sent and received and be able record the receiving mobile's telephone number. This will enable the user to track the effectiveness of various marketing initiatives or consumer offers. Against the telephone number, we would then want to create a database to include client's name, address and email address for future marketing purposes. Of course, any particular message sent must only be received once by the receiving mobile phone within range of our bluetooth transmitter.

It's Linus Torvalds and not Thorvalds
But the fact still remains that windows has issues, Linux has issues but weighing which is which gives a clearer picture and If u read carefully I told u I stood to be corrected.
Whatever
I am a Linux user,programmer and an enthusiasist I dont care what u say or do
Computers / Re: Is Linux Problem Free? Why All The Windows Bashing? by Hayorbahmy(m): 9:01pm On Nov 09, 2007
This debate about Linux and windows has always been and would probably be forever.
on a scale of ten putting them, side by side( I stand to be corrected tho) I think this is their scores.

Condition                                                                   Linux                                                         Windows

Reliability                                                                      9                                                                  6
Longetivity                                                                    8                                                                   4
Graphics                                                                      5(ubuntu xcluded)                                         7
Flexibility                                                                      8                                                                    5
User friendliness                                                          5                                                                    8
                                                                                   ___                                                                ___
Total                                                                            35                                                                  30

So it's pretty obvious who is better let's stop judging based on just one criteria let's look inward

Computers / Can I Make A Private Folder Public? by Hayorbahmy(m): 3:59pm On Nov 06, 2007
I installed another copy of windows(professional) on my Pc dt had Xp (home) before. I wanted to access the files on my document in the Xp home but it is telling me "Acess denied ".Which probably means the account is private.and I need to get some files off that account.
please note that I cant sign in to the xp home cuz there is a virus that logs me off whenever I log in that was the reason I changed the OS.

In short is there any body that can make a folder that is private public?

The honourable representathief Patricia Etteh (ete & abuku - dishonor) finally decided to step aside or resign (whicheva) after holding Nigeria to ransome for over 2 months.
But there is this unfound rumour that those against Etteh her doing that because of their personal beef with the ruling party, or because of in house betrayal.

Well it's our prayer that the enemies of progress in Nigeria wold continue to fight themselves and exposes their EVIL ways.

Programming / Re: Where Is Nigeria In Software Technology? by Hayorbahmy(m): 7:34pm On Oct 24, 2007
Well it is actually not yet time to compare ourselves with India,Japan or Canada. I believe we are still a little bit immature for comparism.
All I know is that we have very good programmers that are not encouraged by the market and most of the time sell their softwares to international companies and another sad tale is the problem of piract in Nigeria.
Thanks to the "OTIGBA" people they made softwares affordable in Nigeria but this is now having a back drop on indigenous programmers.

@dasersoft
Are u a software engineer yourself and what has been your contribution to the software industry in Nigeria.
