absolutely Gutted!!! some write-up, i will say though that it's not right you making light fun of the rape part though. there are loads of women the world over, probably some here on nairaland who have suffered that ordeal and some still with a child to testify it that wouldn't take kindly to a similarity in their lives being used as a quick fun jabber.

you should take up a career in writing, who knows you might sell some.
Family / Re: Should A Working Couple Split The Bills? by ifraim(m): 2:54pm On Mar 13, 2008
i'm quite traditional so i tend to lean towards the idea that the man of the house paves the way in financial issues in a home (just for myself though, not generalising) I would rather my wife use her money to treat the kids & herself always, and me occasionally and attend to her business interests.

that said, it's only right that a working woman does her part in the financial setup of a home. afterall she was made to be a "helper" to the man.

"Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen. This is your captain (Boneyface Kasali Yaro) welcoming you on board of Nigeria Airways.

We apologize for the four-day delay in taking off, it was due to bad weather and some overtime I had to put in at the bakery. This is flight 126 to Lagos. Landing in Lagos is not guaranteed, but we will end up somewhere in the South. If luck is in our favour, we may even be landing in your village! Nigeria Airways has an excellent safety-record. In fact our safety
standards are so high that even terrorists are afraid to fly with us!

It is with pleasure, I announce that starting this year over 50% of our passengers have reached their destination. If our engines are too noisy for you, on passenger request, we can arrange to turn them off! To make your free fall to earth pleasant and memorable, we serve
complimentary Bongo tea and Okin biscuits! For our not-so-religious passengers, we are the only airline who can help you find out if there really is a God!

We regret to inform you, that today's in-flight movie will not be shown as we forgot to record it from the television. But for our movie buffs, we will be flying right next to Air Barka, where
their movie will be visible from the right side of the cabin window. There is no smoking allowed in this airplane. Any smoke you see in the cabin is only the early warning on the engines telling us to slow down! In order to catch important landmarks, we try to fly as close as possible for the best view. If, however, we go a little too close, do let us know.

Our enthusiastic co-pilot sometimes flies right through the landmark! Kindly be seated, keep up your seat in an upright position for take-off and fasten your seat-belt. For those of you who can't find a seat-belt, kindly fasten your own belt to the arm of your seat , and for those of you who can't find a seat, do not hesitate to get in touch with a stewardess who will explain how to fasten yourself to your suitcase." And if we pass your street pls tell the stewardess or shout Owa O Pilot !! so we can throw you off safely, at least that would save you taxi fare.

ENJOY Nigeria Airways the Best in the world ! We hope you fly with us again.

@ 4Him

thank you ooo, help me school the plonker!!!

1) i was going to make mention of the thousands or possibly millions of peeps in Nigerian prisons and have been there for loads of years, nevermind all the ones who died in there awaiting trial and the ones who will still die in the inhumane condition, God help them all.

2) i guess he didn't hear about the Asian, Sri lankan to be exact. who was in remand for 50 years in his home country without trial only to be found innocent after he was eventually remembered! he's 80 now, had more than half his year spent in an Asian prison, under his own country's judicial sytem! abi was it Britain that went there to corrupt the judicial process there?

I'm surprised you say you run a business cos it would be expected that someone who runs a business would have enough sense not to make some of the silly comments you just made.

1) Nigerians taking odd jobs as cleaners and the sort give Nigeria a bad name?! that's one of the dumbest things i ever read! firstly if Nigeria was suitable enough for people they would not come to another mans country to do such jobs, anyway what happened to dignity in labour? aren't there cleaners in Nigeria? what's the problem with them doing it here in the U.K? They have a job that doesn't involve them doing illegal activities.

2) for your info it's not cleaners and menial labourers that give Nigeria a bad name, it's the fraudsters and corrupt Nigerians generally that give Nigeria a bad name. I mean Nigerians who act like they are above board but so happen to be some of the most uncivilised creatures God himself must be ashamed of, and do i need to make it clear to you that you are bordering that group with your very uneducated comments.

3) who cares if you come to the UK or the US to shop? that's just silly making that an argumentative point, nothing wrong with arguing a subject but please keep it Sane and educated.

4) you coming to the UK doesn't mean you know UK law, I've been here for years now and i still don't get the whole of it, there are people who were born here and still don't get it all.

5) It's about time we stop saying we are imprisoned cos we are blacks, if a man's mentality affects his being then obviously a race's mentality affects it collectively. Yes blacks are mistreated and wrongfully placed in society but how can we present a proper case when we already have a defensive mechanism around us as if the whole world wants to enslave us again!!!

Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by ifraim(m): 3:28am On Apr 16, 2007
look the truth is nigerians on the larger side are generally indiciplined and corrupt, majority-wise we lack moral fibre, igbo, yoruba, hausa or whatever other minority tribe, we are all guilty of the situation nigeria find itself in, we can keep blaming it on eachother but the truth is we sit on arse and blame the next person or the government for one thing or the other, what good does that do in the end, we need to learn to stand together for what's right (back in the day i used to say lord lugard was a mad man for pitchin' one tent for over 300 tribes but the solution is not to dwell in the past or dwell on our differences, the solution is to focus on our strength as a people, the united states boasts every nationale in the world and finds strength it in too) there are a lot mo' corrupt countries in the world but those countries still run the rule of law, nigeria doesn't simply because nigerians don't respect the laws of their land or any other land's for that matter, i don't blame western media for broadcasting a black nigeria, i blame nigerians for the chaos that is nigeria, we are the ones that sell ourselves short and at the end of the day each look to his or her own greedy hearts to find a way to enrich ourselves, moral decadence in nigeria transcends tribal issues, it's a collective vice,

u need to realise that life ain't all abt makin' moni, first of, it's a first time show that i s'pos d organisers would like 2 become a yearly event so how abt doin' the first show 2 improve nigeria's image & then think bank later, it's not as if they ain't gon make no moni at all, plus i think ppl don't know how to do stuff of this nature, might be d reason they don't smile 2 d bank, there's absolutely 2 much moni in nigeria 2 be made if they do stuff right, think of it this way, there's how many nigerians in the uk that would invest in the show, how much is that compared to the populace in nigeria that would, do u see hsbc (bank) or citibank investing in this hell no, think abt all d banks in nigeria that would jump @ d idea in nigeria, that's just one thot,

i get u abt the show raking in mo' moni but don't u think it's making mo' moni 4 a foreign economy, all that moni isn't goin to find it's way back to nigeria, and the organisers sure ain't gon pay no taxes to nigeria so what does nigeria stand to gain plus i just came back from 24 weeks in lagos and i promise u there's no way on earth mo moni would be made here,

might not be d most sensitive of comments but u oughta dump him, 4 years is a long time but i'd rather u look at it as a learnin' period other than a waste of time, d real wasting would be u continuing a relationship u ain't happy in when ur feel'ns are not being considered even after making ur fears known, love hurts but it doesn't ask u to keep hurtin' urself,

hi all, i'm nu to this forum thingy so 4give my rudeness but isn't it kinda DUMB hold'n a nigerian model show in a foreign country, y not just go hold it in Nigeria there's no reason to do somtyn of this sort out of nigeria, the idea of a U.K version is just as dumb, if anyone wants to organise a national show and they reside in another country they either go to their country to hold it or they 4get the idea entirely, plus we need to start using our brains to come up with nigerian stuff and put a stop to borrow'n ideas,
