As far back as 25 years ago I watched DL revival programmes on TV. This is Sensational Journalism, attempting to sell controversy by leaving the essence of the entire message and making quotations out of context. He addressed DL members in particular, not everybody. To be in DL is a choice some have made amidst varying options. There's liberty. Those there have reasons why they aren't elsewhere. I don't think everyone's meant to be on the same page. People adhere to different persuasions. I presume the message preached was clear to the DL members it was meant for. Not in the perspective of journalists.

The more you deny the fact that the deeper life church goofed big time in punishing those couples and not only that, sacking the bride's father, while leaving the groom's father, the more you dig yourself into the hole of ignominy.

Even principle of natural justice demands that every man be judged by the same standard and rules.

Let me tell another story: While serving at the deeper life church, yola, in 2002. I met the state overseer (now regional overseer, north-east) Pastor James Apkofure (he was the one that actually read John and Love's apology letter). Nice man and blessed indeed. He has two sons and three daughters. I can still remember discussing with one of the deeper brothers and he told me that if any of his daughters were to get pregnant or sin in an outrageous manner, so as to cause a scandal, Pastor Akpofure will be removed. I was like "what?", did he commit the sin? I was told it doesn't matter.

The question I asked Image is that who is making these rules. Of course, the GS, Kumuyi himself and Colin Adua had said this in his write up: that other pastors have been punished. Now the GS child "sins" and the GS, stricken by conscience for all the laws and all those he had sacked, proposes to resign and you say he should not? God forbid. He should and he must. There is no reason why he should not. If others have suffered for the same rules and sins, then he should also. His sin? His son allowed "worldly" dressing in his wedding. And does this constitute the best definition of what you consider "useful dialogue"? Its always advisable to quote the Bible properly. Can you put Book, chapter and verse to what you put in inverted comma ("...and see which is the truth" ). Its not about doctrine. DL has 22 doctrines. Check up. Each rooted in the Word and backed up with multiple scriptures for reference. Can you point to any one as heresy? I'm a parent and Parents know that families have values and distinctives to which they align. When happenings in the family don't align, the family resolves it within. As other assemblies, DL is a family. This is a DL family issue.

Years ago of my own volition I left a leadership position in a pentecostal living assembly and the denomination of my parents to join DL. I wasn't drawn by miracles. I was already a preacher and an evangelist. I had ministered in crusades and led souls to Christ. The gifts of the Spirit flowed in the services of that assembly. I got involved in deliverance and can tell of so many testimonies of God's power there. But one day I heard a message that connected with my heart like none I had ever heard. The message was clear and pungent and had profound impact on my christian life. I had found what my soul was craving for from my innermost being. My soul yearned for more and more of this unique teaching of God's Word. I took some time, made my findings and satisfied, I switched. Some would see DL services as dry. It was heavenly to me. My previous assembly remains a wonderful place. Souls are being saved and lives blessed there. My Mom is still a leader there but I used the door when I needed to. To some I took an odd step to leave leadership in a more permissive setting to start learning from a bench in DL of all places but my soul was thoroughly satisfied. Its still one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have been blessed spiritually, financially, materially, career wise and matrimonially since I came. I have no regrets. I met and married my wife in DL. Beauty pageant contestants don't come close to her. She's a stunning natural beauty and still takes my breath away years after marriage. My non-DL family members acknowledge that she always looks cool, calm, confident, composed, calculated, awesome and mindblowing with these same values. We are content with DL else we would have left. One of my siblings has moved from 3 different pentecostal assemblies in the same period I have stayed in DL.

There's no living assembly without values and its flaws. Its part of what makes them family. The door is accessible by all. Nobody is chained to stay there. Many have left and many others have joined. Thats the way it is everywhere in living assemblies. People can join and leave when they choose to.

God isn't alien to DL. There are those that choose to continue a campaign of calumny, a ministry of misinformation, disinformation and fabrication. The devil would want a collapse but that won't happen. Just as it is in the Invisible body of Christ, DL as an assembly will only wax stronger and come forth as gold tried in fire. Its foundation is in God and His Word. Even if the enemy has plans to take advantage of situations, issues within the family will be resolved IN the family and God will continue to turn things to mighty miracles to the glory of His name.

The same bible you quoted says "Test everything and see which is the truth". The scripture encourages us to refute every error and heresy with the "double edged sword - word of God". What we are discussing here is if the Deeper Life doctrine concerning the issue in question are in tune with scripture and as long that is done within the description of christian modesty and honesty, there is nothing wrong with it.

There's a place where weary souls can find REAL rest. Its a place where prodigals on the trip to apostasy can find mercy, deliverance and redemption. Its in a truly loving Savior called Jesus. There all the years of bottled frustration, collosal confusion and intimacy with demons can be dealt with by the working whereby He is able to subdue all things unto Himself. Don't resist Him. Slide back to Him. Surrender completely to Him. Shut the world out for a moment. Turn your table or bedside to an altar. Cry out to Him for mercy. Pour out your heart to Him. Hold no reserves. Let go and let God have His way. He can turn your life around for His glory. A new name can be written in glory tonight. It can be shouting time in Heaven tonight. The choice is yours. I am not a "denominationalist" but it is obvious to me that a lot of people do not know the Deeper Life Church. Perhaps many commentators of Nairaland are children born in the 90s who no nothing about The Revivals of the 70s and 80s or even the Scripture Union (SU).
It is understandable that their understanding of the christian church has been clouded by the advent of the Pseudo churches, modern day permissive groups and deviating organizations struggling to catch up with the so called worldly trends and fashion which will fade away(1John 2:15).

I will not encourage people to pride themselves with any denomination as it is only JESUS that saves.
But the truth must be told. From honest and unbiased assessment, you will realize that the Deeper Life church is one of the few places where they stand for the truth and follow the scriptures to the later without fear or favour.

Your money or any talent you have mean nothing to the church as long as your lifestyle or conduct does not conform to God's word.
Even though a lot of people would disagree with them on certain areas, it is worthy of note that every view and position the church takes is solely based on their sincere understanding of Scriptures as this is read and studied from cover to cover.

Many comments depict gross Ignorance and exaggeration of what they stand for. I have known the Church for over two decades and heard hundreds of pastor Kumuyi's messages,I have seen His simplicity, integrity and willingness to objectively correct any practice of the church which is not in line with Scriptures.

Over time the church has preached against the tradition of men and legalism and have made remarkable moves in pointing people to know the bible and know God for themselves.

While acknowledging some infiltrators (as with every other place)I have also found among them some of the finest Christians and men and women of integrity and righteousness and faith, serving God in spirit and truth.

I think we must be more thoughtful in our assessment and comment as we will answer for everything we say or do.
People who love God to the extent of not compromising with the dying and falling world standard and standing out to be different as indicated in Romans 12:1,2 should be encouraged.

To the best of my knowledge,countless lives who attend their programs have been transformed positively. Armed robbers, humanizers, Chain smokers, prostitutes, drunkards, the down trodden, the rich, the poor and so on have been transformed by Christ and turned a new live noticeable to their previous acquaintance. Or do we talk about the countless Lives God has graciously healed from ailments such as: HIV, Cancer, Barrenness, Blindness, Lameness, deafness,cripple etc.

If we take time to understand the Fad and Jagons that have entered many churches and assemblies today you'll almost weep. Churches no longer stand for anything but rather falls for everything the world presents.

The Church is the Bride of Christ and must be different from the fallen world systems and standard.
If you are sure that as a christian you can defend your present actions before God when you meet Him at the end of life fine. Otherwise you can run to Christ by accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour and receive the grace to live for Him Ephesians 2:8 ).
The true mark of being a Christian is that your life is transformed by the grace of God which brings a clear difference between your conduct and the world. If this is not the case with you, it is not late to make amends by coming to the throne of Grace to obtain mercy(Hebrew 4:12) before it becomes late.
