Opps! Jimi's people have changed the page. http://www.jimiagbaje.com/core/protect-your-vote Used to say 1. Wake up early and get to your polling station on time; 2. Do not forget to eat before you leave home 3. Do not wear any campaign material otherwise you will be disqualified from voting. This includes campaign ringtones; put your phone on silent or vibrate 4. Queue up/Line up to Vote 5. Even if the queue is long, be patient and make sure you vote because your vote is your voice and your vote is your right; 6. Do not be disorderly 7. Do not quarrel or fight with anybody 8. After voting, stay until the voting ends – remember it is your right 9. Wait until the votes are counted in the presence of everybody – No “mago mago” Now it says 1. 1. You have a point about the non-performance issue but the event happened. How you view it is up to each individual. 2. The comment about FP being on salary and him running his own business directly addesses the issue that he brought up about Agbaje's competence to rule Lagos after only employing up to 20 people, when FP himself has not successfully employed up to 20 peple himself. 3. About Afikuyomi, FP has not denied it but said that it was his right to attempt to become Governor. Again it comes down to the simple issue of "Is your word your bond" or do we need legions of lawyers to stand with us whenever we have to deal with you? 4. My issue is that integrity must be unassailable or don't make it your platform. Human beings are not perfect but those living in glass houses definately can not afford to throw stones. 5. What is honourable is not up for debate. You either have it or you do not. Just because one person does something and appears to get away with it does not make it honourable. At least it doesn't in societies that treasure honour! 6. I don't believe that FP is incompetent. I never said that. I just pointed out what everyone wanted to know, "what did Jimi Agbaje mean?". 7. To clarify my personal views on the issue, I don't believe that FP is the best person for the job (I used to!). I also do not believe that he is an honourable person that would make sacrifices for Lagos. I make this observation based on his actions while in government and on the current election campaign. His making issues personal with Fashola and Agbaje to me shows a lack of maturity and an absense of concrete ideas. The position that he seeks requires one to be able to serve the people not rule them, not mislead them. The person should be able to make self sacrifices for the peoples greater good. I do not see FP as that person. Hounour can not be bought. You also can not claim it. You can only live it. As Sun Tzu pointed out in the "Art of War", you profit not by denigrating your enemy. |

streetcyph: You don't have to believe me, but please do go ask the people in GTB. FP was one of a bunch of senior management that were 'eased' out in the in 90's. It was a major event in GTB's history so there are LOTS of people in the know. It helps account for the period between GTB and Comet Merchant Bank. Who sets up a company and then goes back to paid employment in Nigeria unless the paid employment holds better prospects than the one that they set up themselves? Like you said, lets keep to the issues backed up by facts. |

Fac streetcyph: Pity Pedro's people don't focus on the facts. 1. Pedro has been a SALARY TAKER most of his life (GTB, Comet Merchant, First Atlantic, and now Lagos State included) 2. The ONLY time , in recent times, that Pedro was NOT a salary taker was AFTER GTB and BEFORE Comet Merchant, when he ran his own business that did NOT employ up to 20 people and eventually went bust. 3. He went back to SALARY taking and BEGGED TO APPLY with John Abebe (Stella Obasanjo's elder brother) and Company at Comet Merchant Bank. 4. So he has NEVER had to pay people from his OWN pocket just manage the payroll for other shareholders/directors/governors, (i.e GTB, First Atlantic, Lagos State). 5. The cloud under which he left GTB INCLUDES non performance, as he was ADVISED TO RESIGN (and we all known that means go BEFORE I have to SACK you). Any banker will tell you (as will senior GTB STAFF) that when you are MOVED AROUND a lot as senior staff it's because management can't find a good place for you or rather you don't fit in anywhere and are excess baggage! 5. He was just about to be booted out of First Atlantic, after O'tega and Company bought into it when Tokunbo Afikuyomi saved him and presented him to Tinubu as a replacement for Kofo Bucknor. Two weeks more and they would have replaced him as they were busy replacing/placing senior management in the bank and he COULDN't stop them. 6. He talks about INTEGRITY but he goes back on a gentleman's agreement with Afikuyomi about not running and supporting him for Governor come 2007 (with friends like that who needs enemies). 7. He crosses parties to Labour but continues taking SALARY from LAGOS STATE (your money, my money) because if he did the HOUNOURABLE thing and resigned he would have NO RELEVANCE. |

1. Fashola let's himself down by not being prepared for things. Reluctant politician or not, he is a SAN, which is a coveted position in the legal profession. He should take more time to be more professional about his running for governor. His performance to date does not do him justice. He really should do more campaigning on his own and not under the shadow of Bola Ahmed Tinubu (aka Bad After Taste) 2. Obanikoro seems to be making a last minute surge. Throwing off his "thug" image and coming forward as a man that might actually know what he is talking about. 3. Femi Pedro should not throw stones since he is reputed, by Jimi Agbaje, to live in a glass house, Ask Femi Pedro what happened to him after he left GTB. That was the only time in his life that he did not collect salary, and ran his own business (trading if I remember right). How many people did he employ? How well did the business go? In addition losing your cool on TV does not show that you can respond logically under pressure. And there is a lot of pressure in running Lagos. 4. Jimi Agbaje should stick to the facts as he has done so far. Being goaded into talking about a man's integrity is not the thing. Let the voters decide that. And let us all have the facts so that we can make up our own minds Oh and just for the record I just found out that Bode Pedro has taken a sabbatical from school in the UK, since January, to help run his father's campaign and consistently writes in this forum under several aliases. Not a bad idea, but he really should identify himself, if he is running a transparent campaign. Until next time |
