Religion / Re: Pope Says Gay Marriage And Abortion Are The Biggest Threats Facing The World by kc08: 10:04pm On Jun 17, 2010
All of you in here defending the pope for doing what is in the bible, all good but may I ask; Is celibacy and the abuse of children (pedophilia) in the bible?

How about the tones of homosexuals (and lesbians) in the seminaries  and convents,  I guess the cover ups are among the lesser evils. since the pope from your arguments is faithful to biblical principles should it not be a no brainer arguing in support of married or voluntary celibate clergy? Even Timothy included marriage of one wife among the requirements or qualities/qualifications for a bishop, I thought so.
Sports / Re: **********nig V Greez*******nigeia Has Been Laggered- Back********** by kc08: 6:24pm On Jun 17, 2010
The problem is not with the coach. The earlier we begin to call it for what it is the better. Amodu or Lagger, whatever, the result would remain the same. Without quality (law), pride and style that is commensurate with international standard to drive growth and progress even if we have the best governor, best coach, best president we will remain the same, You cannot change the product by changing its cover, shocked grin wink tongue
Sports / Sani Kaita Should Be Disciplined For Giving The Game To Greece by kc08: 5:50pm On Jun 17, 2010
Fellow Nigerians, I am sick and tired of having to defend irresponsible and immature behavior of my countrymen when we do not even seem take responsibility of our actions and show our lack of maturity at the international level. From one corner of the internet to the other I see countless articles that display a complete lack of knowledge of law and application of law in every areas of our live as a people. A typical example of this is what happened today between our match with Greece. Was I not surprise that Sani Kaita was surprised that he was shown the RED card and ushered out of the pitch for violently attacking Vassilis Torosidis and by so doing offering Greece the match on a Plata of Gold.

Any country with self pride who takes patriotism and self image and pride for the right things (development, national pride and care for its people and not lines of chieftaincy titles and long agbada with many slaves behind them as servants) would immediately send that Sani Kabacha (sorry) Kaita back home to his village where he belongs since he thinks he is still playing in his back yard where he could display his violence at will. They will ban him for life for wearing the National color and make him a learning spectacle for all Nigerians to know when to take the name and future of the Nation seriously especially in a match that Nigerians were sure of a wine.

He should be punished for his stupidity, insensitivity of the importance and significance of the match, and for his disgrace of the entire nations. Remember Maradona complains about Nigeria's fairplay records, this really makes him look like a reasonable coach
Romance / Re: I Love Her But Can I Survive Her Illiteracy? by kc08: 1:04am On Jun 14, 2010
MissyB, Violent and all, Thank you for your posts,

Yea I recommended for her to be reading novels and even newspaper. I told her this since last year. It was not until a few months ago that I noticed that she did not buy any novel. During the earthquake in Haiti I invited her to read about that incident but she would not. She would promise but wouldn't. It was not until recently I understood the depth of her challenges. That was when I invited her to write a daily then weekly reflection (essay) on her activities at work and send it to me by email. This was when the real work started. We also have other practical exercises we do. I invite her to share with me every new word or expressions she has learnt from her readings. She has a dictionary where she checks out meanings of new words and learns more spellings. I invite her to write every new word and expressions she learns from her readings and exercises in her work book. It is a challenge but we are getting at it and all I want is to remain calm and patient despite all frustrations. Your words of encouragement and support are very helpful.
Romance / Re: I Love Her But Can I Survive Her Illiteracy? by kc08: 11:49pm On Jun 13, 2010
Pro01 and all you great supportive minds out there a million THANKS TO YOU… for all your wealth of wisdom. Love is sweet and cozy but at the end of the day it makes more sense having a great conversation and planning with my spouse. Financial support or lack of it there off is part of the problems that couples face (apart from one’s ability to take care of business  smiley).

The question of feeling inadequate might not even come from a direct treatment or maltreatment of an educated illiterate partner, his or her concept of self in self esteem and worth creeps up in every relationship with just an innocent comment or question. Multiply that with PMS in ladies and you have landmines suddenly exploding in all part of the house/relationship. These are the real thing: (I do not want to say irrational) arguments and frustration where you least expect one. It is also a fact that pretty or lonely (ugly) ladies with no mental ability (our naija version of blond girls with empty minds), are most susceptible to flattery and feel good moments or comments from men. Many out there will be willing to say a million nice things to her. With her tormented self esteem (you said it right) the next item in the menu leaves nothing to the imagination.  Without a mental ability to assert oneself in self confidence love remains a daunting task both ways.

Please, keep those kind words and advice coming.
Romance / Re: I Love Her But Can I Survive Her Illiteracy? by kc08: 9:24pm On Jun 13, 2010
Thanks y’all for all your kind words with love. It is very meaningful and helpful. I have been on this personal tutoring for the past three months and I want to continue because I love her. It is frustrating to see her struggle with what is a second nature to everyone. Truly she is struggling and I see her deal with the frustration with herself too. I have been patient and sometimes I get frustrated too. I am committed to work and walk with her through this. I accept the challenge. I am here to seek help and I appreciate the kind words you have all shared. After our exercise this afternoon she was really moody and looked sad.  Her concern was the fear of losing me. It is not a comfortable thought for me either.

Ladies I particularly appreciate your insights as they help me know the best and gentle way to support her. Guys, keep those insightful flowing as I need this to engineer a complete approach to better take care of this.   I have seen that repetition remains a big tool for retention.
Romance / I Love Her But Can I Survive Her Illiteracy? by kc08: 8:30pm On Jun 13, 2010
I have this nagging concern and I truly need some second, third or a million opinions on this. Trust me. I am a single gentleman and am in my 40s. I met and fell in love with this pretty lady during one of my trips to Nigeria. Then she was an undergraduate student. She has long graduated. For many years we would call and have short chatting and email thing going on. Recently I have become more and more serious with her as I came to know her more. With this knowledge comes a great concern especially if she is to relocate and live with me in the Western English speaking country. She can hardly complete five grammatically correct English sentences on a role.

I started observing this when our level of chatting both on-line and on the phone increased. My first step to help was to ask her not to use the abbreviated texting formulas in our communication. This was to help me see her level of understanding and ability to correctly express herself.  Was I not surprised? May I say here that when I started noticing her lack of understanding of the arrangement of tenses,  grammar, word meanings and sentence constructions, the kind of things we learn in primary school and build up on in high school/secondary school and all that, it rang a big bell. To say the least, I could not believe what I was reading.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am really in a big bind. I love this lady but it is becoming very difficult to see how I would bring a wife who is unable to complete a simple application into an English speaking country. How about advancing education to add to the family support? To show that I mean it when I say I love her, I started asking her to write me stories on how her day went (she is working in Nigeria). The first write up, barely 10 lines long, had grammatical errors in each line. I am talking about mistakes you will not expect from a high school graduate not to mention a university graduate (trust me I am measuring her with Nigerian standard). I really love her and I see she is making every effort to learn but I am really scared about our future. It would be a different thing if I was dealing with challenging college assignments or difficult topics but we are spending hours on elementary English topics (using capital letters, tenses, possessive pronounces, and the use of articles) . Remember she is a Nigerian University graduate. It would have been a different thing if I was dating a high school graduate. It really disturbs me. I need your advice.

Food / Re: Is American Food Better Than Nigerian Food by kc08: 1:49am On Feb 11, 2008
Nigerian food is better any time for all the good reasons; taste, nutritional values and all the nots and bolts that one needs for a good health,   according to nutritionist.

I remember in ''97 on my second visit to the doctor he ordered me strickly to return to my naija dishes. He was so passionate , he commanded that I go in search of naija food whereever I could find some. According to him the difference in my change of diet was too clear from my lab work. He went on to say something like,  this our american food is not good not for you or anyone,

have you visited the dentist lately,  Yap,  my first dentist could not believe one could have a set of teeth so white grin and tough wink. kudos to our naija food, remember those chewing sticks?,  yes man,

so, do we need any other testimonies,

Food / Re: Nigerian Recipes by kc08: 7:45pm On Feb 02, 2008
@olrotimi please  , how exactly , procedurally do we make afang soup

I got this online from http://www.onlinenigeria.com/recipes/afang.asp

AFANG SOUP serves 4-6

This is a classic Cross riverian dish and indeed one of my favourites. The unique flavours derived from the afang leaves in combination with the richness of other ingredients makes this superb soup appealing to a wider spectrum of palates.

I kg / 21b assorted meats (oxtail, tripe, ponmo, bokoto & bushmeat)
4 snails (washed with lemon or lime)
450g / llb stockfish (pre-soaked)
450§ / llb dried fish (washed)
225g/8oz periwinkle (top & tail shell)
225g/8oz whole dry prawns (cleaned)
22 5g / 8oz ground crayfish
22 5g / 8oz ground pepper
I medium onion
450g / llb afang leaves (washed, shredded & pounded)
lkg/21b waterleaf (prepared & washed)
290ml /lOfl oz palm-oil
600ml/lpt stock or water
salt to taste

Wash the assorted meat thoroughly and place in a pot. Add the sliced onions, ground chillies and some stock or water. Cook for 30minutes. Meanwhile, remove the snails from their shells and wash with lemon or lime juice to remove slime. Wash the smoked dry fish with salt and leave soaking in boiling water for 5-8 minutes to kill any insect and loosen any sand or grit. Rinse out thoroughly with lots of cold water.

With the blunt end of a knife, top and tail the periwinkles and wash thoroughly. Add the prepared ingredients and the stock fish to the pot of meat, continue cooking for additional 10 minutes, adding more stock as required.

Finally, add the pounded afang leaves, washed waterleaf and crayfish. Give it a good stir and bring to the boil. Add palm oil, check seasoning and allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes until the aroma fills the kitchen and the soup is well blended. Remove from heat, dish unto a plate and serve with pounded yam or fufu.

.

5 middium rare venison sausage, 10 mexican spicy hot dogs and a hearty beef bologna only the 24 oz for breakfast, a specified weenie hotdog with garlic seasoning over a keg of bear for lunch. while he should drill himself with horse dick stew with pounded yam for dinner.

With this diet he is sure to come out triumphant. and if his girl is not still satisfied then he should think of his life and happines and no damn woman.
