Foreign Affairs / Re: Mccain For President: Say No To Nobama by kevd2: 2:22pm On Oct 04, 2008 |
@Davidif, it seems that you are a brainwashed Nigerian/in America that accepts anything that the Republican Brand sells .I find a lot of your claims to be specious at best . Firstly, Nigerians and 95% of african Americans will vote for Obama, simply because he is black just the same way many white working Americans and the Evangelicals/Rebublicans will not vote for him simply because he is Black.People are excited about this race more than ever before because Obama represents a change in Direction especially after the failed Bush Policies of the last 8 yrs that have been ironically Republican. This man is a Havard graduate that got admitted without affirmative action and turned down high paying jobs on Wall Street just to be a community organiser and advocate. So he has a record of Sevice that trancends Millitary Jingoism as portrayed by John McCain. On your Claim that Obama is just trying to have popular appeal, this is the same man that voted against the war in Iraq at a time it was politically risky to do so.So he has shown better judgement than John McSame that chose a weak Governor Palin just to win the womens vote.It turns out that she is a disaster in waiting as she has nothing to offer apart from sex appeal as evidenced by her recent interview with Katie Couric on Fox News.Obama has already shown better judgement on issues ranging from choice of VP,decision to fight to an Immoral war,Negotiations with Iran which also ironically Henry Kissinger a former Republican Secretary of State has advocated.John McSame is just an impetuous warmonger. On your Claim, that Obama supports Homosexuality or is Pro-choice.in as much as these acts are considered ugly, so to speak, these are personal choices that a man will answer only to his creator. The notion that no one should vote Democrat strictly because of Social values is naive.Liberal values transcends Homosexuality and Abortion Issuess.Positive programs that have advanced the cause of minorities in America including Blacks like your self, such as New Deal , Civil right Laws and the Affirmative Action could only have succeded under Liberal Platforms. The US Economy is failing today because or the conservative fiscal attitude of Markets without any regulation which has in turn led to the collapse of the markets due practices by unscrupulous individuals that has been unchecked. Obama represents a change while and to something new. Mc Cain has been around for a while and only brags about how he went to prison.I suggest you come up with better reaons to vote Republican rather than just being Presmptuous. Obama bin Biden 2008. At least a break from the past. |

pls no one should try and justify anything that OBJ did in his 8 yrs . That is an insult on the Average Nigerians intelligence. the man completely betrayed the trust of sincere Nigerians that expected much from him even after his life was spared from anoher Tyrant like him. - his list of failures and abuse of power is endless. 1- Tried to perpetrate himself in Power just like Abacha and Mugabe even though he is the only Man to rule the country on 2 different occasions. 2 Poverty Alleviation (NAPEP). a Failure,Basic Education (UBE) a Failure. 3- Funding to Education particular at Universty level was completly ignored. 4- His Power Plant Schemes in both of his tenures was just an excuse to rape the treasury. Failure. 5-Contributed to the Niger Delta crisis by playing divide and rule Politics in the Region especially Rivers State. 6- the Aviation sector almost collapsed under his watch. 7-The most Prejudiced Anti Corruption War ever waged when Transparency International claimed that '80% of corruption in Nigeria is perpetrated by the federal Goverment.' 8- Attempts to turn the Petroleum Industry to an Oligopoly controlled by his friends (Otedola and Dangote), while his Son controled the importation of fuel, and some people have the guts to condemn Abacha's Son. 9-Share disregard for the rule of law and the principles of Democracy,eg Anambra State and the last elections. I can go on and on and despite overwhelming evidence someone still thinks he can compare the tenure of his surrogate to him. May God help Nigerians with our delusional thinking. |

those of you who claim to miss obasanjo actually reflect what is wrong with Nigeria.Where people canonize bad leaderhip based on stupid excuses and tribal sentiment. What is he basis for comparison when we all know that This president was forced on us so that no one can uncover the batant abuse of power that was perpertrated by previous regimes. We all know that Yaradua is OBJ's Surrogate and he will not challenge the Framwwork that that people like OBJ,Ibb,Anenih and co created.Nigerians have sold their souls to Mediocrity that is why You hear people praise Ibbas better than Abacha,Abacha better than Obj, now it is Obj thatis better than better than Yaradua. The day we stop embracing Mediocrity under the auspices of tribal sentiment Nigeria will move forward. |

@josh Josh and other naysayers. Why are Nigerians so Gullible and believe that these self procalimed men of God are indubitable.they are human beings like you and and should be questioned that is why we are intellectuals. The exloitation of masses under the guise of religion is not new. The Early Church in Europe used it as a means to aggrandize power and wealth and not unitl people challenged the status quo did things change. The fact is that Europe started making progress when there was a seperation of the Church and the state. In Nigeria any body that challenges a so -called man of God is an infidel even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Mr lecture i salute your courage to challenge superstitious christianity and Dogma in Nigeria.Until we wake up and realise that God will not do for you what you can do for yourselves, twe we continue to be enslaved to this delusional christianity that we practice here. |

Politics / Re: Enough Of Northern Bashing From Southners by kevd2: 3:45pm On Aug 18, 2008 |
As someone from the Middle-belt,if this bashing will make the North and possibly the Middle Belt to wake up then let it be.A sitiuation where pethe Oligarchy in the north and MiddleBelt hide behind Religion and Tradition respectively to enslave their citizens must stop. Let this be a wake up call for people in the North and Middle Belt to empower themselves Educationally and economically rather than just being content with what comes from the Federal coffersand generally stop being ambitionless.Start developing agro-based industries and Solid Minerals so as to develop themselves and also help diversify this Monoculture Economy.enough with the use of Religion ang tradition to blindfold their followers.Enough with the blind followership.Enough with the senseless slaughter of our southern brothers and christians in the North under the guise of Religion.Let the structure of the country be re-organized to meet the aspirations of all nigerians, so that cabal that benefits from this present arrangement does not see any oppurtunity to use divide and rule tactics.then we will have acountry that we can be proud of. |
Politics / Re: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by kevd2: 1:33pm On Aug 18, 2008 |
@Deepzone ,let me apologize to you if i have offende the yoruba's with my statement "the yoruba's tend to be arrogant' rather i should have used the statement most yoruba's are arrogant, because i am merely expressing what other tribes in Nigeria feel about your tribe ,just take a poll and see. My point is that every tribe has its attitude and mentality that are both negative and positive i say this without any tribal prejudice. The North is Backward, and uses Religoin as an excuse for retrogresiveness,My own tribe spends too much time drinking and womanizing and are generally not interested in moving above the state they have reached, the ibos, the yorubas, the Niger Deltans all have their shortcomings and i leave that to you and the imagination of the nairalanders. only educated and exposed people knows this and refuses to stereotype himself or herselfwith the shortcomings of his tribe to identify with his or her people .But to be objective and for this forum to have any usefull outcome we must openly state he shortcomings of our tribes without being disrespectful to other peoples culture.I have not disagreed with you or Axis that the North is backward but adressing this problem by use of innuendos and disrespectful comments to other people's tribe is counterproductive and only incites hatred.pls you can effect a change without being disrespectfull to other peoples tribes. So far this thread has been reduced to nothing but insults and tribal hatred.once again i have no haterd for any yoruba man ,i think have risen above tribal sentiments, i only stated what i think is a negative attitude of the yourubas , the north and my tribe inclusive. |
Politics / Re: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by kevd2: 4:10pm On Aug 17, 2008 |
Axis , your not doing anything productive, i know that the yoruba's tend to be arrogant and assume that every other person is a fool but dont turn this to another tribal war, fact is the North is asleep and needs to wake-up, sorry the North,Middle belt and perhaps all of Nigeria is asleep. If the level of Education and economic empowermwnt in the North were higher you probably would not take any offense to any comments made, Northern leaders have been in power longer that most yet it is behind in almost everthing and thats a fact you and i cant deny, because some elements in the North have used Religion to blind thier followers and made them accept poverty as the will of God ,Fact. The Middle belt have also allowed themselves to accept mediocrity.thats a fact Lets address issues by demanding more from our leaders rather than pointing to conpiracy theories that does not exist, all these tribal bashing will not change anything in the North. |
Politics / Re: Niger Deltans See Where Your Funds Are Going! by kevd2: 3:55pm On Aug 17, 2008 |
@ Queenisha, I respectfully disagree with your opinion that he should be buying or maintaning buses, if the average Man were empowered economically he would no have to choose an okada, this idea of providing temporary solutions instead of attacking the main problem which is poverty by wealth creation is just one of the endless and unproductive approaches that our leaders always use to address poverty in Nigeria. |
Politics / Re: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by kevd2: 3:46pm On Aug 17, 2008 |
Deepzone, frankly speaking I thought that the topic you started has genuine intentions now it has only turned to an avenue formaking Tribalistic Sentiments and showing our Haterd to one another. All i have heard from you, Axis and Co just shows that we are just here to display our Tribal haterd to each other rather than profer useful solutions. This has always been the problem with Africans, when will we ever move above our slight differences and work for our common good, the White man has left us with this our narrow thinking and moved on,that's why they can allow an Obama from Kenya to contest the highest post, why Nicholas Sarkozy a Hungarian Immigrant can be president of France, why Wenger can start an all Foreign squad without a single English man and not be accused of racial Prejudice. Look at how we are here bashing each other.God knows that we Africans has allowed ourselves to be Stagnated by Trivial issues. This post just goes to show that we are no different from our parents Generation.May God Help us and our Mentality. |

Mr, Gadogado, Benue's culture is closer to what is obtained in Plateau, Taraba, taraba but far different from what is obtained in say,Zamfara or Kano.Anyways im not here to start another unproductive geopolitical debate when the truth our differnces our obvious. What i want sday is that some mentalities in North,Middle belt and Nigeria as a whole needs to change. THE CORE NORTH NEEDS TO STOP USING RELIGION AS AN EXCUSE FOR RETROGRESSIVE AND INDIFFERNCE TO EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.THEY NEED START CHALLENGING THEMSELVES BY COMPETING MORE EDUCATIONALLY AND ECONOMICALLY RATHER THAT HIDING BEHIND RESOURCE ALLOCATION AND fEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE. THE MIDDLEBELT NEED TO STOP THIER ATTITUDES OF DRINKING AND BEING CONTENT WITH LIFE AND BE MORE AMBITOUS. MY BROTHERS IN THE SOUTH ARE TOO SMART AND TREACHEROUS FOR THIER OWN GOOD. |
Politics / Re: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by kevd2: 4:38pm On Aug 13, 2008 |
I just couldnt help joining this unproductive argument just to clarify some issues. @ Mr gado gado, the middle belt may be North geographically ,but culturally, economically and religious wise and we are different from the Hausa /fulani,just as N/delta claim they are different from the Biafrans.I say this as someone from Middle Belt Belt. The Hausa' and ibo's are in both respects behaving alike by claiming to represent every one. Gado gado if you want to be objective a lot of practices that go on in the North today are nothng short of archaic, and is is caknown fact that intellectuals in the North know this but the are afraid of coming out to challenge the status quo for the fear of being labeled enemies of Islam.there are many islamic countries in Asia that have modified the older practices and ideology of Islam to fit today's modern world.Poverty is in the North today because people have used Religion as an excuse for all sorts retrogressive attitudes.Everybody is waiting for God or for easy money. As someone from the Middle-belt, its not only the North that is asleep, the Middle belt is also asleep,so is most parts of the country, but it seems although it seemsas though it is only in the core north that people are most content with the status quo . Until Intelectual people in the North stop stereotyping ourselves just to identify with our retrogressive thinking and traditions like mr gadogado is doing we will continue chase shadows. With all due respect Mr Gado gado you may think you are doing your ethinic group a favour by defending the status quo in the North but pls the North and Middle -Belt needs a wake up call, and if this insult from Alhaji Asari Dokubo's serves that purpose , then let it be. For my southern brothers like deepzone,Chime, ibichime and david dylan in the states, i expected more productive and cogent contributions rather than resorting to vitriolic tribalistc remarks against each other ,you should be pursuing the same course for correction the of the flawed modus vivendi that Nigeria is but it seems like it the same blame trading btw Niger-Delta,Ibo's and Yoruba's that has not brought the desired outcome that wil satisfy everyone. In that regards you all sound like all your leaders before trading blames at every other tribe for thier woes with no productive outcome. We need to do two things if Nigeria is to practically move forward, 1- to rearrange the structure of this country so that we can have agreed basis for mutual co-existence and secondly there must be a total paradigm shift in our thinking and Mentality as regards to corruption and leadership because at the end of the day, almost all tribes in Nigeria behave the same way ,like the Typical Africans. And the truth is that our current African Traditions does not support development.all those calling for a split should think twice and remember George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'.It is very easy to direct blame on others when things are difficult That being said, The North and Middle Belt really needs to wake up educationally and economically, the South needs to sop throwing unnecessary blames because it is not only the North that has grown lazy. |

TV/Movies / Re: Denzel Washington Vs. Will Smith (Poll) by kevd2: 4:08pm On Jul 21, 2008 |
@santony22. No one can set a perfect crieria for jujging the quality of an actor.Like i said people go to see movies for different reasons, some to be entertained ,some for something artistic, some to challenge their intellectual inertia. the most impotant thing any movie is the experience and for any actor is believability and Range.Personally i have an eclectic taste for movies but i do try to keep a balance . On your criticism of Denzel for being the same, i understand that complaint being that you are not the samebut the same can also be said of Will, ou know Independence day (aliens),Men in Black I & II ( aliens), IRobot ( some form of alien),I am Legend (some form of Alien), right now a lot of movie goers in the Us are complaining of Will Smith Fatigue. But the most important thing is believability and Range |
Politics / Re: Even PHCN Uses Generator! by kevd2: 3:28pm On Jul 21, 2008 |
@ ASL33. I do not agree with your condemnation of the person who started the thread. One of the biggest problems with the Nigerians today is that we have learned to accept mediocrity In Nigeria,we have failed to hold our leaders responsible that is why we are in stagnation today. The average Nigerian views criticism of society as selfish whining rather than as a social impetus, a neccesity for progress.Last week in Niger Republic ,There was a power outage for 2 days and there were Mass Demonstrations over the whole Country. Here In Nigeria somebody just writes a post to voice his concern and your own fellow Nigerian says that you complain too much.In the history of the Socio - economic development of any developed country, criticism is alway the force that causes a change to the next level .Tell me ASL33 IF YOU ARE CONTENT WITH YOUR PRESENT STATE, HOW WILL YOU MOVE FORWARD, the only explanation for saying we should not complain about the state of the nation is because of pshycological defeat. Until we shake up this "Sit-Down look ,dont complain" mentality that the Millitary has taught us and our leaders use against us we will never make progress. So please Nairalanders let us learn to hold our leaders responsible , voicing our complaints on this site is just the first step, if not what is nairaland for. |
TV/Movies / Re: Denzel Washington Vs. Will Smith (Poll) by kevd2: 5:30pm On Jul 19, 2008 |
There is a big difference between an action movie star and great character actor, the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger,Sylvester Stallone,Jackie Chan,Vin diesel give great box office returns but are not character actors, the great actors include Robert Deniro,Al Pacino ,Denzel Washington ,Anthony Hopkins,Jack Nicholson,Daniel Day Lewis,Sean Penn and Rusell Crowe may not have sold out Theatres but are regarded as the best in the business due to their intense performances in dramatic roles. Now as for Will Smith he is mainly an action star but has shown capacity for great dramatic roles like in ALI and The Pursuit of Happyness but to compare him with Denzel as an actor is ridiculous, Performances in Malcolm X , Glory ,The Hurricane,Siege,Training Day, Remember the Titans,American Gangster,Crimson tide cannot be matched. If your the type of person that goesto the movies for sheer entertainment you will defintely love Will smith more, but if you love movies for their artistic content and ability to make you think and for challenging character portrayals i'd say Denzel is way on top. |

have you noticed that we always pray to God to do what we are supposed to do for ourselves,he has blessed this Country already so what to we want. we -Pray for our leaders that we did not elect to succeed - Pray for personal wealth when our country's economy is in ruins -Pray that Nigeria will change when we our selves do not want to change -Pray for safe journey when our roads are in tatters - we bind all existing and non-existing demons on the road and do not bind our leaders that fail to maintain them -Pray for divine healing when the white man is busy researching for new drugs. -Pray for Good health when are immediate environment is filthy. Pray for Freedom from economic oppresion but do nothing to protest Govt's Inaction or apparent wrong actions -Pray to win football games that we did not prepare for -Pray for God to bless Nigeria and yet embrace Corruption or do nothing about it. Infact I believe that God is even tired of our prayers, afterall faith without works is dead.I strongly believe that we have to change this attitude and give God a break, if we are to achieve any meaningful SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.Pls Nairalanders and intellectuals in the house what do you think. |
