@frosbel The Bible is not the easiest book to read. As a result many do not read the entire book, they just pick certain psalms or passages that they like, but they do not truly know what the bible says. Others stay away from it all together because they find it intimidating and may just wait for their paster to explain it to them.

Are there any easier versions to read than the king james version that you think are good?

^^^^Please explain, what do you mean by spirit husband, and how does this happen?
Religion / Re: Divorce And The Bible: Does God Allow Mistakes? by knowjack: 7:40pm On Nov 07, 2011
^^^^Yes, my wife is also unhappy and has stated she wants a divorce. She may not want it as bad as I do, but there are women who love company for their suffering. So, she may want to keep me around to have someone to share her misery with, but not necessarily because she loves me and wants to save the marriage.

My mom could see that my wife was not a genuinely nice person or respectful and I have come to find that to be true myself. My wife has said some very nasty things to my mother to her face. These things were uncalled for and have made things much worse.

^^^^I am only 28 years old. Why would I be single for the rest of my life? There are people who are in second marriages that are much better than the first. People make mistakes and get into bad situations, so they leave. It happens. I am not sure what I will do, but the level of fear and rigidity as it pertains to divorce is saddening. People rather be miserable. I do not understand. I can't imagine that a loving God would want that, I don't think so.

Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate the effort and time you have taken to respond. I do not know what I will do. As I head into bed this evening I am in alot of pain emotionally. I no longer want to be here or in this situation. I do not think this is the way God would want me to live. I have tried. Please believe me I have. But this may not be salvageable.
Religion / Re: Divorce And The Bible: Does God Allow Mistakes? by knowjack: 5:12pm On Nov 04, 2011
@frosbel Thank you for taking the time to answer my posts. I appreciate your response.

You make some assumptions though. My family has never been harsh to my wife. it is her who insulted my parents, and has told lies against my sisters. It is like she cannot stand me talking to anyone but her. This is her doing not theirs. My mother did not feel she was a good Christian woman truly, like I said she can talk the talk but does not walk the walk. I should have listened to my mother and not married her initially.

Also, some people can be just jerks, and I think my wife is one. Nothing makes her happy. She always finds something to be angry or sad about. Always. no matter what I do.

Often when the man has had enough and wants to leave, he becomes the villain. But if the husband was beating or cheating on the wife, she would be advised to leave with no judgment.

This is my version of being beaten. It is emotional abuse and emotional cruelty daily.

I am not leaving her for another woman. I actually just want to be alone. And although another woman may be satan as you say, she may also be a true woman of God and not a fraud as I see my wife to be.

I am tired.

Again, I think you, but we may be beyond what you are suggesting.

Oftentimes, when receiving advice about marriage it is from those who are not really experiencing any difficulty.  They quote that the bible is against divorce but never really help with the problem.  However, it is rare to hear from someone who is having a really hard time in their marriage also, or have had such a time and either filed divorce or did something else.

I am in a horrible situation.  I married way too young at the age of 22.  It is 5 years later and this union just isn't working.  My wife is combative, she is always having some kind of fight with someone, which then leads me to get involved, and bring drama on myself.  My entire family does not like her and she has caused me to lose my relationship with them including my mom and dad who she has also insulted.  My wife is not physically attractive and has not taken care of herself as the years have passed, I have tried to look past this thinking of the teachings about vanity, but at times I just say to myself I really am not attracted to this woman.

I have tried handling this spiritually, I am patient and loving towards her and share spiritually teachings.  But she is just constantly depressed and sad and wants to fight or complain and it is weighing me down.  I am miserable and cannot imagine this is how life should be.

I think I made a huge mistake due to my young age.  If God knows we are just human, he must know we will make mistakes, so why should marriage be permanent in all cases, especially if it clearly an unhealthy marriage.

I would like to file divorce.  Please advice from anyone who will admit they are either in a terrible marriage, not attracted to their wives, or their wives have caused more harm than good in their lives, and how they have coped or what decision was made in the end.
Religion / Re: Omg! So There Is Really A God? by knowjack: 12:46am On Nov 03, 2011
@Ascony thank you for sharing your experience. it is a wonderful journey to be on. but posting something like that here is dangerous because some get excited and think you are talking about the God of the bible when you are simply saying you believe in a God, a creator, a universal energy, etc. Not the God of the bible. Not Christ or christianity. That at least you should make clear. i think you have though. all the best on your journey.
Religion / Re: Are We Living In The Last Days? by knowjack: 9:43pm On Nov 02, 2011
^^^How many days are included in the last days? Since you think you will not be here for them.
Religion / Re: Omg! So There Is Really A God? by knowjack: 4:47pm On Nov 02, 2011
@OP no Nigeria is not a woman, but traditionally ships,  countries, and oceans have been referred to using the feminine pronouns. The origins of this practice are not certain, and it is currently in decline.

The point of my question is that the Christian god is referred to as a He, so it is just curious to me that even in your aim to quantify God outside of religion, the religious framings still exist.  The pronoun is important here as you are telling us you believe there is a God.  Is this God male?  No contention, just an honest question.
Religion / Re: Omg! So There Is Really A God? by knowjack: 4:20pm On Nov 02, 2011
@OP you say God cannot be put in a box. but you are calling it "him". Have you not put God in a box by assuming God is male?

Religion / Are We Living In The Last Days? by knowjack: 3:40pm On Nov 02, 2011
People have been saying that they are living in the last days for centuries.  Whenever there is an increase in bad weather, war, disease, fighting, etc people become afraid and claim these are the last days.  But centuries have gone on since the first predictions of the last days and these days still have not come.  I am sure we would all agree that times in history in terms of war, weather, and disease have been much worse than now.  Furthermore, those in the bible expected the last days to be in their time.

So, are these truly the last days?  Or, will we never know when the last days are?  If you believe these are the last days, what will happen on the last day?  What will happen to people of all other religions?  Will all Christians be included in the good things that happen or only a select group?
Religion / Re: Steve Jobbs Saw A Bit Heaven & Screamed Oh Wow! Oh Wow! B4 He Died by knowjack: 8:52pm On Nov 01, 2011
Great point!!! If he did not believe in God, why do you assume that it was the Christian heaven that he was saying oh wow to? It could have been any heaven!!! But it was probably not even that.

Religion / Re: Are These Real Biblical Teachings Or Blasphemy? by knowjack: 9:07pm On Oct 30, 2011
No, there are no laws against it, there should be though. People based on their own fears chose to follow this man. But, as I have stated, life has a way of working itself out. Look at Harold Camping's fall from grace. Those who helped to spread this message will also be punished. We will never know how. But rest assured it will happen.
Religion / Re: Are These Real Biblical Teachings Or Blasphemy? by knowjack: 6:38am On Oct 30, 2011
@OP here you go, in the news this week.  The question that must be asked after reading this is, if Harold Camping stated that the predictions were biblical, and they did not come true, what does it truly say about the bible.

Family Radio, the religious organization started by self-professed prophet Harold Camping, is no longer calling for the end of the world. Is it possible after two failed predictions this year, and at least two more in past years, that they just don't know when the Rapture will be?

So, for now at least, they've stopped predicting. That's right, there's no other ominous date in their calendar for the foreseeable future. And the 90-year-old Camping, who told The Christian Post last week that he has retired as head of Family Radio, isn't turning to his Bible to make another calculation. And FamilyRadio.com, which previously acted as a mouthpiece for their Judgment Day prophecies, has since removed all word about the end of times. They've scrubbed all past mentions of the date – including the explanation about why the May 21st events never materialized.

You should also note that this all may have been a purposeful scam. In another interview camping stated that he will not return any of the 200 million dollars that he raised through this campaign. This is very unfortunate and cruel. He stated:
“I don't have any responsibility. I don't have any responsibility of anybody's life. I'm only teaching the Bible. I'm simply saying, ‘This is what the Bible says,'" Camping announced. "We at Family Radio never tell anyone what to do with their money or possessions and will not be returning anything.”
Religion / Re: Nigeria's Millionaire Preachers [Documentary] - To Be Shown Tonight by knowjack: 6:28am On Oct 30, 2011
doyin13:

I think you are being a tad unfair. I don't think he did that bad a job. It wasn't the most thorough of documentaries, but for a thirty minute piece, they packed in as much as they could.

But in my opinion, the real story is not the pastors anymore. Their motivations are obvious and their modus operandi well tried and widely tested. I think the bigger story lies within congregations. These people that in other contexts would rather die than part with ten naira but willingly fling money at the feet of a
sugar toothed con artist who can't even be bothered to disguise the fact he is fleecing them.

very true. the people must hold these preachers accountable. but, they must also hold themselves accountable to know the truth and not just follow blindly.

Religion / Re: Prosperity Gospel Exposed - Pls Watch both parts and take NOTE of this FRAUD by knowjack: 3:19am On Oct 30, 2011
@chowbaby I sympathize with you. I cannot imagine what you have witnessed in terms of people suffering who believed in the May 21 judgment day nonsense. However, I say to you that things have a way of working themselves out. Maybe now those people will start to live more fully and not anticipate the end of the world or listen to false doctrine. I hope things become better for them.

Also, you do not have to worry about what will happen to @Hischild. For someone to hope so strongly that the world will end this year, their life must be pretty bad. Pray for this person because they are clearly lost and misdirected. This person is more than likely reaping what they have sown and will continue to do so. Look at what has happened to Harold Camping as a result of this. He is now considered a joke, he can no longer host his radio program, and he has had to retract his statements. And this is what we know. Who knows what else has happened to him.

No evil deed goes unpunished, so @Hischild knows what is coming if they admit that they were wrong, or even goes as far as to apologize, they will most likely be unable to live with the guilt and fear.
Religion / Re: It's Not About Money That Make Us Rich by knowjack: 3:04am On Oct 30, 2011
There is nothing wrong with wealth or prosperity. Why would there be so much abundance in this world if we are not allowed to enjoy it? It is the bad things that are done for money or wealth that are not good, not the money itself.

@OP why do you think they would change it? If it the infallible word of God, how could this even happen?
Religion / Re: Are These Real Biblical Teachings Or Blasphemy? by knowjack: 2:47am On Oct 30, 2011
@OP Clearly these are blasphemous statements.  The person who is stating this is most likely mentally ill.  The irony is that even Harold Camping, the originator of the May 21 judgment day theory,  has stated within the past few days that he was wrong, that no one knows the day or time and removed any traces of these prophecies from his webiste.  So, whoever is writing this is probably too ashamed to admit mistake.  Think, how embarrassing this must be. They made this campaign quite public, and they are now the laughing stock of the world, sad.

It is not of the bible.
