Politics / Re: I'll Probe Amaechi, Says Wike by krixtopee: 11:22am On May 26, 2015
lolaxavier:
THE Rivers State Governor-elect, Chief Nyesom Wike, has indicated his readiness to probe the Rotimi Amaechi administration after being sworn in as the chief executive of the state.

Wike, who gave this hint while receiving the interim report of the Transition Committee in Port Harcourt on Monday, declared that his administration would carry out a forensic audit of all government accounts.

He explained that the measure would enable him to recover funds that might have allegedly been stolen by top officials of the outgoing administration in the state.

Wike specifically said that those who participated in the use of N4.5bn to conduct a local government election by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, even when the court had stopped the exercise, would be made to account for their actions.

The governor-elect maintained that RSIEC embarked on an illegal local government election despite the court’s position on the matter.

Explaining that the days of impunity and corruption were over, Wike noted that Rivers would be a test case in the fight against corruption.

He added that his administration would adopt a comprehensive approach in fighting corrupt elements in the outgoing administration in order to entrench fiscal discipline in the state.

“I am not going to be intimidated. The only way we can work together is to check the ills of the past. The right thing must be done. Those who have stolen the resources of the state must be made to account for them.

“I have the political will to drive the process to its logical conclusion. The massive stealing of government resources was a deliberate attempt to create problems for the incoming administration,” Wike said.

The governor-elect declared that all backdated appointments and certificates of occupancy being hurriedly issued by outgoing governor would be set aside.

“All the top officials of Amaechi administration who have refused to cooperate in the interest of Rivers State during the transition period will soon cooperate whether they like it or not.

“Those who have closed the courts will be the same persons rushing to the courts when we open the courts,” Wike further declared.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Transition Committee and state Deputy Governor, Mr. Tele Ikuru, had recommended that the new administration should carry out forensic audit of all accounts in view of an alleged looting by officials of the outgoing administration.

Ikuru pointed out that Amaechi and top officials of his (Amaechi) administration refused to cooperate with the committee for a smooth transition.

The deputy governor urged the governor-elect to work towards restoring basic services in the state.

Reacting, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, told our correspondent that Amaechi was not afraid of probe and added that the governor had been transparent and sincere in governing the state.

Okocha argued that there was nothing wrong in probing any administration, but stated that the exercise would only becoming a vice should it (probe) be done with mischief in mind.

“No government that is transparent and sincere like that of Amaechi will be afraid of probe. It (probe) is good to do except if it is originally intended to be a witch-hunt,” Amaechi aide said.

On Wike’s claim that N4.5bn was used to conduct the council election, Okocha disagreed with the governor-elect, saying, “He (Wike) should also understand that he who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.”

Maxnaija gathered that Pastor Hitman vowed to complete his journey to Abuja to congratulate the incoming president, he also highlighted some of the challenges he has encountered so far as he looks to complete this denting task.

He also stated that if he's not able to complete the journey in time, he will however trek to Duara, the hometown of Gen. Buhari to meet and discuss the way forward of Nigeria with him.

GEJ was the hope for a presidency of zero ostentation. He unfortunately arrogated excess spoil of the land to himself and household. Today, he would watch Buhari lead the people with extreme humility.

Business / Re: Top 19 Lucrative Business You Can Start In Nigeria With Less Money by krixtopee: 12:50pm On Apr 06, 2015
wilsonl:
In the beginning stages of business in Nigeria, it only takes courage and persistence to create money. This belief that you first need money to make money makes you a victim and gives you no way out. There are many lucrative business you can start in Nigeria with less or no money needed.

Here is the List of Businesses you can start in Nigeria with less Money:

1. Manufacturing:

People often think that for you to start manufacturing anything that you have to have much money. I have a friend who started manufacturing paint with less than 800,000 Naira and today he has advanced. Manufacturing in Nigeria needs determination and understanding your target market. It is a very lucrative business. Below are some things you can start manufacturing with less money:

Paint
Bar Soap
Paving Stone

Most of the small machines you need to start are being sold for less than 1,000 dollars and anyone can acquire it and rent a little space of store. When you start recording success then you expand.

2. Snail Farming:

Snail farming is very easy to start and you don’t need up to 100,000 Naira to start this business. Snail is very expensive in the restaurants and yet very easy to start. You can get some snails for free at the bushes and one snail lays about 300-500 eggs. They mainly eat grasses such as spinach…It is very easy to start and require less money. I will still discuss more about this particular business in the near future.

3. Dry Cleaning:

This is a very good business to start with less money. Easy to start and easy to run the business. All you need is a rented store, one washing machine, 2 pressing iron, water storage and other minor things with at least one or 2 workers. Note: Know how to wash the cloths and iron it neatly and your customers will keep on coming and recommending you to others.

4. Web Designing:

It is relatively very easy to start designing a website if you have knowledge about it. You can make so much money doing so and starting and running the business requires little or no capital as all you need is the knowledge. You need to learn how to host a website too.

5. Rental service:

This part of business is very lucrative considering the demand of rental products in Nigeria. From renting chairs and table, to dresses, cooking utensils, canopies, stores, spaces, etc… It requires little or no money to start as you can get some of the items from manufacturing at credit.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Starved Us, Jonathan Gave Us Multibillion Naira Contracts - OPC by krixtopee: 11:21am On Mar 25, 2015
[quote author=snowland post=31975286]The National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, said his group is opposed to a former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress, because Mr. Tinubu instructed governors of the South-West states not to deal with or empower the OPC.

Mr. Adams said this at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday in reaction to reports that his organization plans to disrupt the forthcoming general elections.

He said while Mr. Tinubu plotted to destroy the OPC by denying it of government patronage, President Goodluck Jonathan has been magnanimous, awarding pipeline protection contracts to leaders of the organisation and other militants across the country.

“Deliberately Tinubu instructed all the governors (South-west governors) don’t work with OPC, don’t empower OPC, don’t associate yourself with OPC,” Mr. Adams said.

“Ask our people from the south west, if you threat us very well, why should we get an opportunity from your enemy? If you gave us jobs, if you empower us, we would turn down the offer from the federal government. Because you neglected us, you don’t want the organization to exist anymore.

Mr Adams admitted that he, Frederick Faseun, and another militant leader from Ondo state were given multi billion naira contracts to protect pipelines, saying as Nigerians they have a right to share from the nation’s commonwealth.

He said, “They alleged that some ethnic militia collected nine billion, what I know is that President Goodluck Jonathan gave us a contract to protect pipeline and in that pipeline contract, the analysis is that Nigeria is losing 1.3 trillion naira every year to vandals. And when you see how much they will pay us for a year, in six zones- we have three zones in south west, three in South-South. I have only one in South-West; Dr. Fasheun has one and another guy in Ondo has one.

“The entire money NNPC will spend for us to protect the pipeline is not up to four billion for the six zones. You know what happened, they intentionally wrote the propaganda to affect the rally of last Monday, and at the same time, they haven’t given us a dime for the contract. President Jonathan has not given us money; we are just planning on how to start the job now. You cannot get money, it’s not a contract of buying something.

“As a Nigerian, we have a right to share from the commonwealth and that does not mean they have induced us. Tinubu is the chairman of OandO, and it’s an oil company and hardly will you see any governor in Nigeria that does not have interest in oil business. Hardly will you see any that minister does not have interest in oil business. Look, the south-south has been benefiting from the Amnesty package from the past four or five years. We have never benefited from it.”

The OPC leader described the All Progressive Congress as a party that strives on propaganda.

The OPC leader said his organisation wants the country to move forward and has decided to support the re-election bid of President Jonathan.

“We are not saying because we are supporting President Jonathan, we should be an enemy of other political parties. When you watch carefully, you will realize that nothing less than 23 political parties partially support President Goodluck Jonathan, so we are not here to harm any other political party,” he said.

Speaking on the protest by the OPC for the removal of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s chair, Attahiru Jega, which many Nigerians, particularly the All Progressive Congress termed a violent protest, Mr. Adams described the APC as a party that thrives on propaganda.

“We deliberately kept quiet for one week to make sure that they lied to the extent that we would come out to tell the world that 85 per cent information coming from the APC is fallacy.

“You can’t win an election based on fallacy or propaganda and they have used their strength to concentrate on CCN protest rather than to go from house to house to campaign.

“If you watched newspapers, you will see some parasites signing different press releases that Gani Adams should resign, you will see Shina Akinpelu, and then you see Monsuru Akande again, so you see the level of propaganda? We even investigated; the second press release was released from the state (Lagos) secretariat in Acme, coordinated by Ajomale. Why are they doing that?

He maintained that the protest was not against Mr. Tinubu or the APC.

“We did not protest against Tinubu or APC. Why are they supporting the wrongdoing of Jega? I think most of them are product of free and fair election of 1993, so we should upgrade the conduct of our election and what happened yesterday has justified our protest.

“I don’t see why you should deny 19 per cent which is 12 million registered voters of their right to enfranchise. And if you recall, in the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the number of Nigerians who made the difference for MKO Abiola was 14 million. By the time you deny 12 million people the chance to exercise their right, certain signal is coming, but I’m appealing to Nigerians, they should not allow Jega to provoke them. Let us accept the faith but let the history run against Jega.”

OPC not a threat to election

Mr. Adams said his group is not a threat to the coming elections and was not sponsored by President Jonathan.

“Well, we have witnessed 1999 election, we didn’t get involved in violence, we witnessed the 2003, we didn’t disrupt the election, 2007 same thing happened, 2011 same thing happened, why should we disrupt election,.

“We challenge them, let them take the pictures to the police to investigate and identify those who destroyed that billboard. The picture that was first sent to the internet was a picture of an event held on eighth of December by Dr. Fredrick Fasheun. So I’m appealing to concentrate on how to win the election and the heart of the electorate and not to be concentrating to destroy the character of anybody who supports President Goodluck Jonathan

“We have been funding our organization before election; you will realize that we have not less than 25 programs in a year. Who is funding those programs? Why should they insinuate that anything that comes from us because of our belief to support President Jonathan that it’s because of money?”

Calculia:
Three days to the presidential and National Assembly election, a total of 153,185 Permanent Voter Cards for registered voters in Ogun State are still being expected on Tuesday.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission in the state, Chief Timothy Ibitoye, confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent.

He said,”We are still expecting the balance of 153,185 PVCs for the state are yet to be collected from Abuja.

“Meanwhile, our head of Information Communication Technology is in Abuja and we are expecting him with the remaining PVCs today or tomorrow(Wednesday).

“You know, the chairman has said the collection of PVCs has been extended till W

The total registered voters in the state are 1,795,794, while the total number received from Abuja so far is 1,642,607.

The total number distributed is 1,136,003, and the number that remained uncollected is 506,604.

The percentage recorded on the number of PVCs collected based on the number received is 69 per cent, while the percentage recorded on PVCs collected based on registered voters is 63.3 per cent.

The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had condemned the piecemeal nature in which PVCs were released to the state by INEC.

He also alleged that over 600,000 ‘strange’ PVCs, brought to the state by the commission, did not belong to the people of the state.

According to him, apart from that, only yesterday we received another 13,000 PVC’s from Abuja, and only those that were received from two weeks ago till date will be distributed.
