My quote is from dr. La. Does well check mean peadiatrics?

raii: I called dr Jeanne Hyungh of WhMC and her fees is $2k minus tests and ultra sounds but you have to send your ante natal records before she would consider taking you on as a patient. WHMC hospital fees is $2.5k, epidural is $1.2k. I didnt ask for paediatric costs.

I believe she is the cheapest because I called other docs and the least I got was $2.8k

Peadiatric cost is between 500 - 600

sayoberry: @kykes since we dey the same shoe. na Ur face I dey look o.
kykes what was the overall cost of birthing for sugar land when you calculated? just birthing.

@nefertitiram... this Ur name self... very long to type grin I agree with you but what of the pains after the cs? moreover Im cs-phobic sad and
I'll be alone and someone will join me after the birth. may not be easy for me. as for work I'm trying as much as possible. I'm planning to travel at 7months too.
I pray God gives me the strength to listen to advice and not go working like a mule

@sayoberry, my birthing cost is 2700+3780+1500=7980 (Dr. Le, hospital, epidural). You just have to budget for cs when having twins and pray u have a vd to reduce costs.
Don't port to El past o. Just come to sugarland.

raii: Anybody got info on memorial hermann in houston.

The reviews I got about them weren't good. Unhelpful nurses, do not encourage womanly delivery or breastfeeding etc. A woman actually said a nurse came to check her baby and after seeing that the baby had pooped, she just closed d diaper back n walked away. It was one of her visitors who was shocked that eventually cleaned up the baby.

Well the favour of God can give u an angelic nurse wink

Airpure: Hi Peeps,

So i also called Methodist Sugarland last night and asked for a package for cash paying patients and they adviced as stated below

1.V- Delivery - 2530 for 48 hrs stay
Epidural - 1,500 (a must for me)

2.CS Delivery - 3,780
Epidural - 1500

this is minus Doc Fee

she kept saying its just for Delivery and its covers baby n mother.so i am actually afraid of hidden cost.

let me knw peeps if u got anything different

There are no hidden cost. The prices only cover delivery n 2 to 3 days stay. According to the financial counsellor, anesthesia is 1500, circumcision is 102.63. U have to get a peadatrician by ur self but I'm sure ur dr. Can arrange that for u. I hear dr. Le does circumcision so u might not have to do it with the hospital. The extra costs may vary depending on if u go thru ur dr. Or thru the hospital that's y they only give u a quote for the fixed prices.

Airpure: Whoa Great Thread i must say. Thanks to every one for sharing. I had my baby in Huston few years ago and i am planning to go back again soon and use same hospital.

On my first trip i didnt have any info all i knew then was i wanted my baby to be an American Citizen .I had a friend in the states an American and I Bless her till tomorrow i was skepitical about asking her but finally did and she was so happy to have me. she lived in Downtown in Houston so I had to find a hospital around there. I sent her $3,000 to hold for me then travelled with $10,000 when i got to the states i was 30 weeks but wasn’t really showing cos i had searched and ordered the perfect maternity top from Next in the UK. I travelled with KLM nice flight all the way. So arrived the US with my jeans and trainers looking like ur normal fat tourist lol. Luckily POE staff was male and didn’t notice my bump.

A day after i arrived the internet and phone where my best companions. i goggled and called and went on about 5 birthing centre Tours. Then i goggled for a doc after calling so many I settled for DR Que Traven reasons were 1. She Started practicing the year I was born(Experience) 2. I wanted a woman cos I felt a woman will understand d needs of a woman more and understand and sew back properly after d delivery Lol. 3. She had great reviews 5.she was less than 10mins away from the house by cab and a cab ride cost me only $6
The hospital I used was St Joseph Medical Centre Greatttttt Hospital . They have a package called Blessed Event Package for cash paying patients $3,000 for Virginal delivery with 2 days stay and $5500 for CS with 3 days stay. I will itemise my total bill below.

1. Cost of Hospital - $3000 + Epidural + 3 course meal for me n hubby + Lab n lots more.
2. Doc Bill - $2000
3. Circumsion - $200
4. Baby doc after birth - $1,200 negotiated to $600
5. Compulsory Hearing Text for all newborn - $ 200

Total for having my baby in the states minus passport n Visa etc was $6,000. And I had the best experience ever. I had no labour pain as I had an epidural I truly delivered like The Hebrew Women maybe better lol. I think I might use them again only am staying in Sugarland this time and thinking of using Methodist Sugarland (I need reviews on this please) though hubby said we can move to Downtown close to delivery time) one thing I want to avoid is hidden cost afterwards like sending bill for Lab and Epidural like one hospital did to my friend.

Story on getting passport in 2 days and Birth certificate same day plus my bad experience with Nigerian Embassy and Visa Renewal will follow later.

Pls how many years ago was this? Prices may have changed.

ashleybaker:

@ Kykes: How much does the hospital Dr. Le use charge? Also is the 2700 for CS or vaginal delivery? And were you told of some of the other costs like pediatrician, extra days, circumcision etc?

@ashleybaker

2700 is for CS multiple birth. It covers weekly doctors visits, fees, tests n 2 visits after birth. Dr. Le uses methodist houston which is 3100 for womanly delivery and 4800 for CS. I'll follow up with the hospital to see what their fees cover.

this was my identical situation...i believe we should be able to beat Dr. Le's price down.

What I did was to get correspondence from some other Dr in the houston area that I will use for POE

I got correspondence from Dr. Fabgohun, and Dr Sayegh...has full break down that you can use for POE.

Gilbertsayeghmd@gmail.com and fagbohunmd@yahoo.com

Thank you @anonymousmum

@ijaymama, @santa2 and anyone who used Dr. Le,

I just got off the phone with his office and was billed 2700. I hope I can renegotiate when I get there like some of u did but I have booked an appointment.

The issue is they say they don't give any email correspondence to back up dr cost or confirm appointment. I believe these docs are crucial at POE. What do I do? Does anyone have a cost breakdown that I can work with for POE? SOS!!!!!!!

PrinceAdeAde: hello All,

Just Called Delta Lagos ticketing office @+234 1 279 9000 and they confirmed a promo is ongoing for Lagos-houston and this expires at 16th october 2014 thus all flights goes for N230K(Lagos-Atlanta-Houston i.e Atlanta POE)

All that have been waiting for summer ticket prices to wear off, this is the opportunity to grab. Other airlines are also running similar promos such as united but note that the closer the date of travel is, the more the price i.e promo price may not apply thus I have checked that if you book for one month from today, then you would enjoy the riddiculous rates

Thanks you are a star. Called United. Theirs is 231k valid for 3 months for lagos to straight to houston.

He charges like $1600-$2000 depending on how you can negotiate,... Cool and calm guy...well known in Methodist sugarland....he does circumcision as well ( he calls it nigerian style, cos I had to explain and explain...then he said "I understand the nigerian style"....that helps in saving cost., cos we didn't have to do it in the hospital.

Thanks oluloveme. Please do you have a contact email where I can get the breakdown of the price and what it covers?

anonymousmum: Hello house,

I am in need of some help,

the Doc that I have received a quote from, and I have decided to go with does not provide e-mail correspondence (Dr. Duc Le of Sugrland Methodist), even the hospital does not provide correspondence, even after trying to psyche/beg them on the phone...naija style no work grin

As I am sure we will all agree this is critical for POE...

Please do you have any Dr and Hospital in Houston/Sugarland area that will provide e-mail correspondence/cost breakdown, I just need something to hold for POE purposes...Also please provide e-mail address if you have it...

Thanks muchos smiley

I have the price quote for the hospital but I don't know how to post it here for u to see. I got it from dr. Zimmerman's correspondence. Vaginal delivery is 3100 and cs is 4800 and they say that is the discounted price o undecided You can contact rgamez@houstonmethodist.org. He is the financial counsellor.

My heart has settled for duc le but na how to find am na the problem. I will check on the hospitals website and let u know what I find.

IyawoToBe: Couples who got their visas together pls help with my questions abeg cry cry cry

I got my visa with my husband. We were also given one proxy form. I was the principal applicant but I couldn't leave work to pick up my passport so I signed the proxy form for my husband to collect on my behalf so it doesn't matter who the primary applicant is. If both of you go to pick up your passport then there's no need to fill the proxy phone. My husband didn't get an email about passport pick up but I did (maybe because I was the principal applicant).so I believe that once your husband has gotten a mail in means both your passports are ready. Don't fret!

Dollsjay: PDF Zimmerman fees are not 1600...don't think you got the right dr information

I contacted Zimmerman office to clarify on the price difference cos they gave me a quote for 2600. I was told that a c section is 2600 while a vaginally delivery is 1600.

Dear nairalanders, just to say a big thank you for all the info shared here and also share my success story at the embassy today.

I and my husband went together and we spent only 3 mins. These were the questions asked:
Why are you going to the US?
Where in the US?
Do you have family there?
Have you contacted a hospital?
Where do you work and what do you do?
have you travelled before?
are you married?
When did you get married?
do you have other children?
For every document I tried to present, she said don't worry and waved her hand. After she says pick pick up your passport on thursday.

GOD IS AWESOME!
