Business / Re: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by mengi: 3:09pm On Aug 27, 2012
@jarus: Thumbs up man, i appreciate this piece.

But are you really sure you were speaking with SLS?, cos some of his responses are DUMB and i learnt he made first class. so what happened?

SLS: See, Suraj. It is not. First, know that this is not a monetary policy but just currency management. Our cashless policy never says there should not be any cash at all. It only discourages heavy cash in the system. Whether in N5 notes or N5000 notes, the limit of N500,000 will still be N500,000. So what are we saying? It also enhances operational efficiencies.

Sir, i travel with N500,000 in my wallet and armed robbers struck and steals the cash, it does not matter which denomination my
money were, it is simply GONE. i thought that was the whole essence of these CASHLESS POLICY. the introduction of N5000 note does not in any way promote this policy.

SLS: See, Suraj. The number of times banks load their ATM machines will also reduce. Banks can now load up to 5 times the value in their ATM and reduces rate of stocking and associated costs. The cost of printing and managing currency will also reduce.

I was so shocked that these words actually came from SLS, the no.1 man in the banking industry does not know that every bank has its limit on the amount of cash deposited in the ATM vault. Hmm its a pity

SLS: All that are unproven talks. I have challenged people to bring any study or research that says higher denomination leads to inflation. Nobody has brought any. Look, it is inflation that brings about currency renomination, not otherwise. In the last 10 years we have been battling double-digit inflation in Nigeria.

Sir, i am no economics student but events of this fold happening in Nig has shown that higher denomination promotes inflation. Experience, they say, is the best teacher.

rodgers: People detest coins so much in this country and until that is resolved, goods and services for the value of those coins will be jerked up till the minimum note.
Wizeboy: In as much as I agree with his decision to introduce the new N5000 note, where my worry lies is the introduction of N20 coin. Though COIN is been used in more advanced countries of the world as a means of transaction but I doubt if that will work in Nigeria.

The only laudable idea i cud pick from the discuss, yes, we need to introduce coin into the Nig. economy, as it is in other advanced countries. that Nigerians hate coins is totally not true. The problem with the coin is PACKAGING, soludo's coin was too heavy and at such recieved widespread rejection. imagine carrying such coins of N10 worth, without a strong belt on ur trouser, NA unclothedness BE THAT NA

Today the respect i had for Awolowo just die, how can he?

No wonder the prase, "he wanted to be the president of NIG even if it was a day"
he must ve realised he was fooled all along.

And here i tot Awolowo just hated the northerns, hmmm, i must save this stuff 4 my kids.

Well, i am still of the opinion of aUNITED SOUTHERN FRONT, Awo's time is gone this is now our time to undo those wrongs and re-write history.

Men, i cant believe i took my precious time to read all those post. well here is my 2cent.

afam4eva: @Mr.chippychappy
I'm forced to agree with you that Igbos should fold their arms and watch a duet between the Northerners and the south-south, but don't you think that Igbos and south-southIjaws have been intertwined that it will be very difficult for it not to affect the Igbos. Don't forget that there's a huge indegenous Igbo population in the south-south. Don't also forget that the Efik/Ibibios who were our best friends during the war are also in the south-south. Don't also forget that the south-east Igbo population in the south-south is one of the largest. So, we're gonna be affected just as much as the south-southerners

The Niger Delta has realised that it was a mistake to side with the North against Biafra. A big mistake.

not all niger deltan sided the north, infact my maternal grandfather of blessed memory limped cos of the bullet he got being a biafran soldier, his village was destroyed utterly by Nig Troops. so igbo cant fold their hands and watch, when that evil day eventually comes.

Having said the above, I make bold to say that the day the Ibos, Yorubas, Southern Minorities agree on federalism, the core North will keep shut. Especially now that the middle belt are extracting themselves from the mix.

I concur, whosoever brought up this arrangement of 6 geo-political zone shd be praised. it is the best thing to happen to Nig as we tend towards true federalism.

I will say this, though I know it might be controversial. I think the muslim Yorubas are the ones aligning mostly with the North. They seem to allow their religion blind them into believing that the core north are their brothers. But unfortunately, the core North don't even regard them as true muslims. In many mosques in the North, Yoruba muslims pray separately from the hausa muslims.

Bro, u are damn right i ve witnessed it times without number. i ve hausa muslim friends who openly branded my yoruba muslim friends as "fake muslim".

Surely there are more intelligent Northerners than this m0r0n. Can they disown him; because his statement is giving me nightmares

Erm, on behalf of we,the northern muslim,I strongly apologise on those comments made by faruk, we actually never knew he had freed himself from the chains, as he has been having mental problem of late. of course if war were fought based on population, britain india would rule the world.Indeed we are sorry.

i strongly believe the bulk of the solution lies with ur husband.
it's him you need to tackle. why should allow his mom to take charge of the household just like that,
she even had the gut to ask ur parents who should pat for this and that.

My dear, your folks got to intervene in this matter first, you guys need to rent a house no matter how small.
with the MIL away, working on ur hubby wont be that difficult. eh ya, 10 months is too short to start having
this heart ache. pls be prayerful also. SHALOM.

The same place where money for senseless trips to jamaica, trinidad, Owambes, Legislators wife conference, Exotic cars from Coscharis, Australia trips etc come from

Dayo and Gbawe make sense but their prob is that they placed the cart before the horse.

Let the so called trips stop, let owambe cease and other corrupt practises vamoose,
only then can we say the project will be sustained.

I am tempted to agree with Nerd, that something transcend individuality and may be connected with race, i said may.
@ waybaloo
Most African men are that way, detached, i believe it has to do with their nature or should i say their environment. Many Nigerian men feel "Great" about themselves in as much as they can adequately provide for their family and often feel "what more can she ask for" . they rather want their wives to come out clean with what is bothering them rather than them to waste "valuable " time probing what she wants.

Family / Re: My Husband And Mother In Law Are Very Close that it makes me uncomfortable by mengi: 1:57pm On Apr 19, 2011
Honestly, i find it rather disturbing - lying and hugging your mom while you wife sit and watch.

But why is it common on this site that every issue been discussed here has to to dissected across 'gender dichotomy'. if the poster if a guy all the males line up behind him and it's a lady all the females tow behind her. It's unfair to the posters cos the response the get is rather tilted than it would have, had everyone bear the mind irrespective of his/her gender.

Family / Re: My Husband's Confession by mengi: 12:26pm On Mar 23, 2011
@ poster,
True, infidelity is fast eating into the moral life of society like cancer attacking its victim, and shd be frowned at, but before you bury that husband of yours , have you ponder on the following points.

Why did he confess?
I can bet my life that most men will never divulge such scene esp. since there was no penetration. my guess is that your hobby is a "nice" guy , why, because he still has a conscience, though a bruised one but certainly not a dead one.

He confessed to ease himself of that burden, and had you handled it with maturity, it would have been one big triumph over the enemy. Let's pray he doesn't regret that|"noble act" of confessing to his wife.

Many will shout crucify him, but how many can find that courage to confess his/her misdeed to their hobby.

I am not commending your hobby's action but i believe there are many ways to punish culprit as this, certainly not walking out on him to sleep in the parlour, you said you could not sleep, i can bet he never slept either.

take it or leave it, you played a role in this situation, by act of omission.

So calm down, and handle this matter boldly, it is ,to me, not enough to cause a separation.

Come tell us , how you resolved this cos many would love to learn from you.
