Romance / Cowards You Can Now Woo Ur Dream Girl by mosqit: 3:05pm On Nov 26, 2009
Are you having those butterflies in your stomach when she walks past you? Do you feel that she is the most beautiful thing that you have ever seen? Well, you might be wondering how to show a girl you like her. The right approach is what that matters the most and is something that puts your relationship in order.

The first thing you need to do is control your libido. Make sure you become her good friend. Yes, she is adorable and you just want to touch her, but keep the looks aside for a while and try to understand and know her. The best remedy on how to show a girl you like her is to make eye contact and smile at her. You might encounter two reactions - she might either blush, or give you that frown. Well if it's the former, you have laid your path, and if it's the latter don't give up as you will soon learn how to proceed.

The next big thing on how to show a girl you like her is to actually approach her and introduce yourself. Like they say the first impression is the best impressions, make sure you give it your best shot. Make sure you don't scare her with too many details and then you could walk together and start a conversation about general topics. Make sure you concentrate on her and not just go on talking about yourself.

You need to compliment her next. Don't do it like every body else as most guys might just compliment on her looks. Find something that she does and tell her you like that. You can talk about the looks too but make sure you are genuine if you want some success on how to show a girl you like her.

You need to also start flirting slowly so as to make her understand that you are trying to build a relationship with her. There is one thing you need to keep in mind absolutely regarding how to show a girl you like her and that is to be patient. Once you see her reciprocating back you can hold the reins and maybe ask her out.

Nairaland / General / Teenage Depression. by mosqit: 11:48pm On Nov 25, 2009
Child and teen depression is serious and often goes untreated. Symptoms might be overlooked or minimized as part of growing up or something that will just pass away with time.

Depression has a negative impact on children's development, school performance, and relationships. Children and adolescents with depression feel sad or hopeless. They might be angry or easily irritated. They may lose interest and enthusiasm for things they once enjoyed. They may feel bad about themselves and lack confidence. Some complain of stomach aches, headaches, or some other physical discomforts. Sometimes there are changes in their eating habits or sleeping patterns. Hopeless and suicidal thoughts can also afflict them. Major depressive disorder is the leading cause of suicide among youth. Depression in children and teens can be destructive or fatal. Untreated, it can lead to unhealthy and dysfunctional patterns of coping such as withdrawal, isolation, bullying, delinquency, drug use, promiscuity, self-injury, or self-destruction.

Up to 15% of children and adolescents have symptoms of depression at any given time, and 5% meet the criteria for major depressive disorder. Depression can be caused by hormonal changes or a chemical imbalance in the brain. It may have a genetic component, running in families for generations. It commonly occurs when triggered by stressful life events, such as a major loss or change. Losing someone to death or separation, changing homes or schools, divorce, physical or emotional abuse, teasing, bullying, rejection, and physical illness are common triggers to depression and its symptoms.

Depression is treatable. Child and teen depression therapy has been found to be effective in helping children and adolescents overcome the symptoms of depression. With counseling, children and teens soon learn that their feelings can change. There is hope for their future. Life can and will get better. They discover that there are some things they can do to better cope with the problems they encounter. The can talk about their frustration, fears, pain, and anger. Getting help at an early onset of depression or while young can help prevent future problems and foster healthy growth and development that will carry on for a lifetime.
Health / Water No Get Enemy. by mosqit: 11:45pm On Nov 25, 2009
The curiosity of the general community nowadays in health and fitness covers a broad spectrum of issues and many folks are discovering the need to understand the benefits of drinking water. Although advances in technology and research focused on elements of liquid intake taken from the study of sports and energetic activities - such as electrolytes, salts and carbohydrates - Your body does require a regular intake of water in some form to carry on living a healthy life.

Water v Energy Drinks

There is an ongoing discussion on the benefits of water in light of the reported benefits of using energy drinks. The irony is with the intention of almost all energy drinks are composed of a large amount of water. Inside this context, the discussion can be seen as a needless one. Energy drinks can be a superb source of liquid intake overall, yet depending solely on them for regular liquid intake requirements could not be the healthiest way to gain liquid intake. Although the nutritional elements which are integrated in many of these beverages can be beneficial, there is an inherent caution in ingesting a surplus of any nutrient in order to prevent imbalances in the physiological functions of your body.

The Essential Benefits of Water

It is probably general understanding that your body's makeup is around 70% water. This truth highlights the need to understand the benefits of drinking water. Yet worries regarding pollution of water sources and water quality in manufacturing processes of the bottled water industry, as well as a fascination in other sources of liquids, deter some from including a regular intake of sufficient water levels.

Unadulterated water from natural sources essentially contains many nutrients which are massively beneficial to your body and health overall. Vitamins, natural resources and other elements appear readily in natural water due to the breakdown of plant life and the filtering processes which happen as water reaches its destinations, such as, ground water, lakes, streams and rivers. This fact must be considered in any attempt to understand the benefits of drinking water.

Water Quality and Health

There is a real problem at present in discovering clean, unadulterated water sources. Although the trend of purchasing and consuming bottled water became trendy in recent years, there have been more discoveries of the potential contamination of water from the plastic cartons and bottles it comes in, as well as the fact that of a number of the bottled waters contain nothing more than tap water which is fine but your being conned if you purchase these products,

These problems aside, it is still feasible to get hold of unpolluted water from natural sources. A particular brand of bottled water from a manufacturer who uses a wholesome source could be the answer. There are additionally several devices on the market now which adequately filter tap water to render it into a healthy consistent drink which can be used on a daily basis. Consequently, folks who need to understand the benefits of drinking water are still able to do so.

Here are a few foods that will answer the question for you. Begin eating these today and you will see results breathtakingly soon.

1. Instead of eating white rice, you should replace it with brown rice or wild rice. These alternatives have a lot of great carbohydrates, as well as added vitamins and tons of other benefits. They really do begin burning the stomach fat off of you, so I think you should make this switch rather early.

Don't try to change too much about your diet at once. You will go into shock and will associate the new diet with a "bad feeling." Smaller steps will make sure that you keep them going FOREVER. How does that sound? Lifelong weight loss. You can do it if you take it in with small steps.

2. What foods get rid of belly fat? Overall, I would have to say vegetables. If you had to pick one group, that would be it. They have natural compounds within them that physically eat away at your stomach fat. Broccoli & cauliflower are the two that come to mind the most, so I really think that this is the way to go. If you can have a little each day with dinner or lunch, you will begin seeing results very soon.

3. If you are still eating a lot of sugary things then you should put them down. Cereals included. Replace these with oatmeal (a great snack and very healthy,) or sweet potato, or just any other foods that have a lot of good carbs and lower bad carbs.
Health / Food For Anti-aging. by mosqit: 11:20pm On Nov 25, 2009
We are what we eat, never a more turn statement written. If we're eating junk then we can more or less predict that we're going to look like junk. This article compiles a list of 7 great anti aging foods. While this is not the definitive list of foods for anti aging benefits it's a great start and will have you feeling great if you work them into your daily and weekly diets and meals.

#1 Berries with antioxidants - Most berries such as blue berries and black berries are high in antioxidants. These help protect the body from the potential damage that can be caused by Free Radicals. Mixing berries into your diet daily if possible but at least a couple of times a week will have positive anti aging benefits.

#2 Garlic - Garlic is preached as a great anti aging food to help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol. Ideally if you can eat one clove of garlic a day either raw or cooked you'll reap the benefits of this.

#3 Nuts - Nuts are a fantastic source of vital oils and nutrients. With nuts it's important to add them into your diet but do so in moderation. Many nuts are high in fats but also lots of other things that are fantastic for our bodies so sprinkle them on foods such as salads, cereal and even sweets.

#4 Avocado - This is a very overlooked food. Avocado has so many precious benefits if it's added regularily into your diet including keeping wrinkles away from your face and improving the look and glow of your hair and skin. Working them into your diet can be strange if you're not used to eating them, adding them to salads or eating them raw are both easy methods to eating them.

#5 Green Veggies - Broccoli, spinach, and other greens are great. They fight off disease and toxins, keep your weight steady and are low in calories. You have got to eat a few servings of these everyday, they're just to beneficial not to.

#6 Ginger - This good is crucial for digestion it helps your stomach and bowels work well. It's a crucial part of our bodies processes and it's not fun if you're not getting along well in the digestive area.

#7 Water - So maybe water isn't a food but if you're not drinking at least 6 glasses of water each day you're not feeling as good as you could be. Also it's not just water but stay away from soda and alcohol as often as possible they are counter productive to the water we drink. Water is a must for flushing toxins, keeping our skin glowing and fending off de-hydration head aches.

Can a beauty anti aging product stop the visible signs of aging or even reverse them? Most people looking for anti aging creams want to know that, and we are getting pretty close to finding the answer.

Some beauty anti aging products out there are actually able to help reverse some of the visible aging signs! In combination with a healthy lifestyle that nourishes the skin with all the nutrients it needs to maintain optimum function you can both reduce wrinkles and slow down the aging process.

But first of all, your beauty anti aging product should be completely safe. By choosing a natural product you will avoid all those dodgy chemicals that are hidden in regular skin creams.

Your skin will respond the best to natural, healthy ingredients as these often already are present in the body, unlike man-made chemicals. For example the ingredient Coenzyme Q10; it is already present in each cell of your body, but as you age the amount reduces and an extra boost of it through supplements or skin creams can have a dramatic anti-wrinkle effect.

Health / Anxiety Disorder by mosqit: 11:11pm On Nov 25, 2009
We know that panic and anxiety can touch any of us at any point in our lives, some people are more susceptible than others, it has been reported that if one of your parents have suffered from one of these disorders then you have a higher chance of also suffering, I am not sure about that one, but is it possible to ever understand why any of us can suffer from these disorders.

These disorders can happen at any time in our lives, but the development of them have been connected with adolescence or young adults, the conclusion of this is that adolescents and young adults experience a lot of change in their lives in a relatively small amount of time, they have to do things that they have never done before and have possibly not been prepared for, leaving school and coping with the real world is an experience that can cause most young people anxiety. Think of all the things they have to deal with, getting a job and the interview process, earning money to start supporting themselves, even socializing in bars and clubs, these are all things, and there are many more that they have not had to deal with before.

So these things and this transition period can put a lot of stress and pressure on a young person, but they are not the only ones who suffer, it is just recognized that this part of a persons life can be a vulnerable time. How do we begin to understand why this pressure can develop into a disorder. We have to look at the underlying feelings and thoughts that are behind these disorders, what are we feeling and what are we thinking every time we get so anxious about something that a panic attack is threatening our whole being. Think about it, we may have thoughts of being scared to do with what it is that is putting so much pressure on us and so what do we feel, fear that is what we feel.

Fear is the underlying thoughts and feelings that we experience when we are in a certain situation or performing a certain task that we are naturally not happy with, we fear that situation or task and this is what makes our system react with a racing heart, shortness of breath, sweating and any of the other symptoms that flood our bodies during this fear. So if fear is our problem, then we have to understand why we fear that certain situation of task.

Let's say we feared public speaking, why would we fear getting up in front of say a 100 people and addressing them. May be we think they will laugh at us, they might not understand what we are saying, we will get embarrassed, we will not be able to get our words out and they might ask us questions. There are many reasons why we would fear this and through therapy or training we could overcome this fear and actually enjoy public speaking. But forced into doing public speaking when we fear it so much is going to play havoc with our human system. We are going to be overcome with fear and this alone is going to disable any form of speaking performance, we are more likely to stammer, mumble or forget what we are supposed to being saying because we are so struck by fear.

It does not have to be a major thing like public speaking that sets of the fear factor, after all that is a major one and there are lots of people that have never had to do it, but fear it all the same. There are some that get the same fear from speaking on the telephone and imagine if you feared that and had to take a job in telesales, your life would be hell. Doing something we do not like doing can make us very anxious and in extreme cases bring on a panic attack, this can then develop into a disorder over time and it all stems from fear, behind that fear lies a reason.

This reason can be found and dealt with through therapy and it is important to think about getting help through therapy to understand why we fear certain things in our life and it is especially important if what we fear is something that we have to do on a regular basis. It can stem from something that has happened to us in our past, but therapy can help us to find out the reason and once we know the real reason why we are struck by fear in certain situations then we can work at changing how we think about that situation and heal the fear. If we know and under stand the reason, then we can work to change the outcome.
Health / Anxiety In Children by mosqit: 10:57pm On Nov 25, 2009
Uncomfortable as it may be for a parent to admit, some children do suffer from panic disorders. This is not the same as a child who may be nervous about a new experience or worried about an upcoming examination. This is usual and nothing to worry about, it is when the fears develop into panic or anxiety disorder.

Children can develop fearful feelings about sertain people, places, objects or situation. If this fear persists for at six months or more and affects their day to day life, the child is said to have a phobia. Symptoms of a phobic response may include being frozen to the spot with terror, becoming clingy, throwing tantrums or suffering from stomach aches.

It may be that a child is overly sensitive to situations and events and may strive for perfection. This leads to them worrying excessively about everyday things and they become extremely harsh on themselves. They could also need constant reassurances and approval from others.

As parents, we strive to protect our children and prevent anything negative from impacting on their lives, unfortunately it is not always possible. Children can suffer from certain types of anxiety disorders that are also identified in adults.

Anxiety disorders in children can display themselves as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD), which results in compulsive behavior and can be extremely distressing for both child and parents. The constant repetition oc certain routines or behavior, helps to relieve the stress of a situation and although it is most common in children around ten years old, it has been identified in children as young as two.

As is the case with an adult, it is imperative that professional advice should be taught for any child displaying anxiety disorders

Health / Stop Anxiety Now. by mosqit: 10:53pm On Nov 25, 2009
I suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for six years and during those six years I sought every possible way of managing panic attacks.

Who wouldn't?

The attacks were making a shambles of my business life because the situations that triggered my attacks with the most certainty were business meetings. And I had a minimum of one meeting a week with some weeks having as many as three.

This was back in the 80's before there were things like Panic Away or others that use a very swift and clever "perception modification" that basically stops panic attacks cold right away.

As I said at the start of this article I was seeking ways to manage my attacks and I think I tried everything! I took up jogging. I meditated as best I could. I sat in saunas and hot tubs. I lifted weights.

And I read every book I could get my hands on that had to do with the "relaxation response." Remember that?

These efforts had a really solid positive effect on my anxieties, but my attacks marched on unabated. The only difference was that I was more relaxed in between the attacks!

But the attacks were relentless and my business meetings were a shambles.

Toward the sixth year's end I started to form an idea the seemed to have merit.

It went like this. I realized that I had struggled through hundreds of these pernicious attacks, and while they were very disturbing, I became to realize that they didn't hurt me! At least not physically, anyway. I had suspicious thoughts about my mental state, but who wouldn't after hundreds of times when it felt like they were "going crazy."

When I combined the feeling that the attacks couldn't hurt me with the anger I had rising in me over my six years of ruined meetings and lost productivity, something happened. My attitude toward panic attacks shifted to knowing they couldn't hurt me and anger over their effects on me and my business for the last six years.

That new found attitude toward the attacks enabled me to lose my fear of those attacks.

And, as soon as I didn't fear them they went away. For good!

On my own, in my own way, I discovered that managing panic attacks was a waste of time, a flawed concept.

You don't have to "manage" them. You can "cure" them and forget about them. They'll be gone.

And the "key" to this cure is for the sufferer to let go of their fear of the panic attacks or their return. When the fear is gone the attacks are gone.

That's how it went for me. Of course, I did it the hardest way I can imagine. You don't have to do it the hard way. There are some excellent programs that have shown tens of thousands the way out.

The way out is by getting rid of your fear of the attacks.

You can get your life back!

Some of the physical signs and symptoms of anxiety are:

muscle tension
feeling nauseous
frequent headaches
difficulty sleeping
heavy sweating
heart palpitations
trembling and fatigue

Some of the psychological signs and symptoms of anxiety are:

excessive worrying
difficulty concentrating
feeling that you are losing control
Worrying that people are looking at you
feeling the need to escape and get to a safe place
an intense feeling that you wont be able to cop
jumpiness

If you think that you have the signs and symptoms of anxiety, it would be a good idea to talk to a counselor or even a doctor. Even if you think it is just the normal worries that happen in everyone's life, it can't hurt to make sure it is not a more serious problem. If you are even considering the possibility that you have a problem, then something is obviously bothering you, so you might want to seek out help. If you have a general feeling of anxiousness, then speaking with a counselor is a good way to sort out your feelings. If you are experiencing any of the physical signs or symptoms, then you should get yourself checked out as soon as possible.

Health / Stress And Anxiety by mosqit: 10:40pm On Nov 25, 2009
Prolonged stress is much like sticking your hand in a cool pan of water and slowly heating it up to boiling point. Stress hormones can gradually build up inside us and make us feel constantly on edge and fatigued. We might experience frequent headaches, nausea, tingling sensations and shallow breathing. These same sensations can be felt when we experience panic symptoms only with less intensity.

Stress and anxiety can keep you awake at night. People who are stressed might feel totally exhausted but feel physically and mentally charged at night. Stress hormones and adrenaline rushes around their body making them feel restless and tense. They may have thoughts of dread and worry and find it difficult to relax as if they're ready to explode.

Don't ignore stress and panic symptoms until they get out of control, which is what most people do. Proactively try and reduce stress and anxiety by using self help and relaxation techniques. When these stress hormones stay in our body too long they can cause serious health problems. They can weaken the immune system and lead to other problems such as insomnia, depression and obesity.

Health / Learn To Conrol Panic by mosqit: 10:32pm On Nov 25, 2009
Anybody who has suffered from a panic attack or an anxiety disorder knows how it can make day-to-day life impossible to live. You may, or may not recognize the symptoms or the thoughts that trigger the attack, but you definitely recognize the moment when the panic attack actually strikes. That feeling of helplessness - knowing the problem, but not being able to do anything about it, makes anxiety attacks that much more difficult to get over.

However, rather than obsessing about anxiety attacks and making your life miserable, you can learn to control your anxiety disorder through a variety of techniques. Most of these techniques won't alleviate your illness permanently, but can provide highly effective temporary relief from the symptoms. For permanent removal of the symptoms, you may want to take up cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

1. Learn relaxation techniques. Activities such as meditation, yoga, etc. are highly effective that helping control mild anxiety attacks. If you lead a stressful lifestyle, such activities will help alleviate some of the tension and control panic disorder.

2. Massage, especially that of the region around the shoulders and neck is very effective in controling anxiety attacks. A lot of the tension is built up in the body, the most in the regions mentioned above. Gently massaging and relaxing these muscles can relieve the symptoms of a panic attack.

3. Breathing techiques - that is, deep, slow breathing - are also very effective at relaxing the mind and the body and helping you control your anxiety disorder.

Simple tips like these can go a long way in helping you control your anxiety attacks. While they may seem trivial, the riddle to solving the anxiety puzzle is little pieces like these.

Health / Disturbed Amnesia by mosqit: 9:35am On Nov 22, 2009
Amnesia, is a condition where memory is disturbed. Amnesia affects both organic and functional causes. An example of an organic cause of amnesia is damage to the brain, through trauma or disease. Where as an example of a functional cause involve physcholigical elements such as the defense mechanisms. There is several different types of amnesia which I have broken down below:

Lacunar amnesia

Lacunar amnesia relates directly the loss of memory on one specific event.

Global amnesia

Global amnesia is when you lose your entire memory. It is thought that this is a defense mechanism that are body instates after a very traumatic event. As a result of this complete loss, it is common that post-traumatic stress disorder can develop, and involve the spontaneous and realistic flashes of these traumatic memoreis.

Traumatic amnesia

Traumatic amnesia occurs most often due to a head injury, such as falling or being hit on the head. General with traumatic amnesia the length of the amnesia is directly related to the extent of the injury itself. In often cases a mild trauma is suffered, during events such as a car accident, where the occupant of the car might have an interuption in their memory just before the accident because of a brief loss in the memory transfer mechanism.

Dissociative amnesia

Dissociative amnesia refers to the long-term repressed memory that can result in emotional or pschological trauma.

Childhood amnesia

Childhood amnesia, which in several instances is called Infantile amnesia, is probably the most common type of amnesia - the failure to remember events from our childhoods. There is many popular theories as to why we have this loss of memory from our child; most recently it has been thought to be as a result of language development or under-developed parts of the brain.

Health / Acne Treatmant At Home, dont And Dos by mosqit: 9:10am On Nov 22, 2009
Almost all of us suffer from the problem of acne at some point of time in life, especially in our teenage years. Acne can be due to several reasons. It might be due to oily skin, genetic factors, skin allergies, etc. Even too dry skin can cause acne. What is important to understand is what you must do and what you must not do while addressing the problem of acne.
There are simple at home acne remedies that you must do to nourish your skin and keep it fresh and glowing.
• One must drink lots of water. This is an age-old adage. Drinking water detoxifies the body and keeps your skin fresh and glowing.
• Eat healthy foods, fruits and vegetables. Avoid oily and junk food.
• One must exercise regularly. Stress is also a reason for acne. Exercising keeps you fit and healthy and away from stress.
The things that you must not do are as mentioned below.
• Do not wash your face too often in the day. Many a time, we do that to keep dirt and bacteria away but anything done in excess is not good. If you keep washing too much, your
skin will dry up too much.
• Do not squeeze or pop the pimples on your face. This is a very common thing that we do. The urge to squeeze the pimples is very strong, especially when we have to go out to attend a social function or so. However, this results in the bacteria and infection spreading to other parts of the face and worsening the problem.
At times, sticking to just simple at home acne remedies as mentioned above can keep you away from acne and

Health / Are You Suffering From Anaemkia by mosqit: 5:54am On Nov 21, 2009
Have you ever noticed yourself of having chronic fatigue, pale skin, faded eye lid, fingernails have become thin and flat and eventually spoon-shaped? May be you are a victim of anemia.

If you are suffering from anemia, remember your body has a limited capacity to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the blood and the tissue cells. The nutritional anemia can arise from an inadequate intake of iron, protein, certain vitamins (B12, folic acid pyridoxine and ascorbic acid) copper and other heavy metals. But the most common nutritional anemia's are iron and folic acid deficiency.

If you are suffering with iron deficiency anemia remember, your primary focus should be on the underlying disease or situation leading to anemia.

If you are taking enough iron but not able to absorb it properly then intake is of no use. Remember how much you are able to absorb is more important than your total intake. Iron is better absorbed in ferrous form rather than ferric state.

Iron is best absorbed when the stomach is empty. However gastrointestinal side effects likely to occur such as nausea, epigastric discomfort and distention, heart burn, diarrhea, constipation etc. which can be minimized by increasing the dose slowly over a few days until the required doses is reached.

Attention should be given to the amount of dietary iron also like Liver, kidney, beef, egg yolk, dried fruits, dried peas and beans, nuts, green leafy vegetables, molasses, whole grain breads and cereals etc.

Absorption is also influenced by the form of iron in the diet.Heme iron present in meat, fish, poultry (MFP) is much better absorbed than nonheme iron, which can also be found in MFP as well as eggs, grains, vegetables and fruits.

Non heme iron absorb better in presence of ascorbic acid and MFP.

If you are a vegetarian and want to enhance iron absorption you have to take vitamin c rich food such as all citrus fruits, potato etc. along with iron rich food.

Factor which can inhibit your iron absorption?

Chelate iron including carbonates, oxalates, phosphates and phytates (unleavened bread, unrefined cereals and soybeans)

Fiber in vegetables.

Tea along with meals can reduce iron absorption by 50 percent.

Phosvitin present in egg yolk.

Finally to maximize iron absorption and prevent iron deficiency anemia, one should improve food choices to increase total dietary iron intake, include a source of vitamin c at every meal, include MFP at most meal if possible and avoid drinking large amount of tea or coffee with meals because of their tannin content, avoid high quantities of EDTA (ethylenediaminetetra acetic acid) by checking food labels for its presence in foods.
