iseethegoal: Hi guys. Checking out ticket and the prices are not smiling at all. Most airlines are saying 600k plus. Seems airlines stopping over in the US are cheaper though (400k). But I was told I will need a transit visa to pass through the US as I do not have a US Visa. Please any advise anyone or is there anyone that just booked and find more cheaper flights try Egypt Air |

tokiniofficial: I applied without doing any THING called SOP, LOE and since on tuesday I've been kissing my TRV... Yeah i made the SOP/LOI statement not to ridicule the fact it is not needed.. it just to put light on peeps submitting new application. i guess some people submit applications that really raises eyebrow and believe their wonderful SOP/LOI will save when the VO reads it.. but it wont. First things first, make your application has accurate, direct, logical and self explanable as you can, submitting necessary docs which self explain itself.. then you can add a LOI/SOP as an addition... and pray God Favors you.. Based on my application.. i used my sister who was married with a different surname, i had to put documents of marriage and date of birth cert. to show we were sisters from birth. plus i read physics and was going for a computer related course, i used my I.T certificates to show transition towards a computer line .. I had a 2.2 going directly for Masters.. used my sister's company acc of balance of 6M (but very very good cash flow) and added mine and i answered my questionnaire very well .. i didnt pay tution only admission deposit.. and i diidnt write any SOP/LOI .. and i got TRV.. i know its Gods favor and the truth is that if i knew about this thread before i submitted my application. i would have written SOP and LOI, i no go lie.. summary is just that, get your documents well prepared and at least unquestionable without a LOI/SOP .. so that when adding it, it will just be for clarification purposes and pray for GODS FAVOR.. this is my 50cent contribute |

Funny thing is that i didnt write a LOI or SOP .. and i got TRV .. Important thing is to Get ur documents correct and set well first, LOI or SOP is just a secondary addition not a main one.. If your documents aint right and u write the best SOP, the VO might still think otherwise. Just saying.............. 1 Like |

abisolmi: i have been trying hard all day to post a message on here to no avail. How una dey? I landed safe in Edmonton yesterday to the glory of God. To those who applied for visa before June 1, na gobe o, you will have to apply for your work permit on CIC website even if you land Canada after June 1. This was my case, I saw the restriction on my study permit and the remark didnt say i could work twenty hours off campus. I saw another who applied June 4 and though the restrictions were same as mine, it was written that he could work twenty hours. there really was no hassle at Toronto immigration where i got my study permit, the letter of introduction was not even all that important cos the immigration lady said to a guy beside me "if you dont have anything with you, its fine, we have everything in the system". Please expatiate more... do u mean the date your trv was issued (the one on ur passport)? ,, or date u applied .. before June |

justicia: . Thanks a lot mehn. I tried Dalhousie for Masters for this september but I was not given admission. Well as u said, I will try to package my application well when I apply to other schools, although I have been searchn for other schools since buh there entry GP is what scares me, they are always saying B+ and that's a 2.1 whn u calculate it. Do u have any particular school in mind. Am still searchn though. yeah 2.1 is B+ which is actually the minimum.. like i said, u need to add other things u have got along with your transcript, like certifications, work experience etc. lemme share my experience, if u can learn a few thing the first time i tried Dalhousie for masters, i got declined... i studied Engineering Physics as BSC and ever since graduation, i diverted into I.T. so i always wanted to do a master program related to computer or I.T so on my first attempt to Dalhousie, i applied for masters in Computer science. i just sent my transcript and other basic things i got declined. i then went to their website and called the program coordinator and he was friendly to let me know that apart from my GP, the main reason was because i didn't not do enough computer course during my BSC and i had a lot of program deficiencies to qualify. and i told him i had few computer certifications from Microsoft and Cisco to back up my transcript to show i have some background in I.T ,, and he said i could have attached it and see if i will still get a chance during review. but it might not be enough because admission is usually based on GPA courses not certificates . so i learnt a few things,,. Then i tried to apply again just after a month. I then learn about another Masters program (Internetworking) which is more I.T so i went to the program website and made some inquiries before applying. I called the program coordinator and explained my situation ( i read physics bla bla bla).. initially he told me that i don't have enough background in computer since i read Physics .. i then explained i had certifications and training in I.T field.. He then told me that he is not the one that reviews that its up to the graduate committee to decide.. But i can give it a try . so i applied, i included all my certifications and training documents, CV along with my transcript when sending my package.. After like 2 months, i didn't hear anything so i called the coordinator again. each time i called it was his Secretary i usually spoke to and she always said they're still reviewing my application ... i kept on calling for weeks till i was able to talk to the coordinator again and he seemed to still remember me, i told him i had applied. while on the phone, he told his secretary to confirm if my application is with her and after she confirmed. He told me he will personally look into my case and i will hear from them.. after days he told although i had not met the requirement but from my certifications, he can tell i have a good background in I.T .. He told me to write a Cover letter about my work experience and send to him. which i did. (i had only worked months sef but i wrote an attractive cover letter) Days later, he told me i quote "Based on a combination of my GP , certifications and work experience, he would recommend my application to Graduate studies" and it is now up to them to decide.. and i thanked him and waited A month later, Graduate studies emailed me that my application has been approved.. So you really have to try hard if you want to get a direct masters with 2.2 .. and always try to talk to the department. call the coordinator, they are always willing to talk to you if they are less busy . i remember calling several times, i got into voice-mail but i persisted. so hope u learn a few things from my experience. just combine other things related to your course with your application Good Luck 5 Likes |

justicia: Hello House. Pls is there anything like Pre-Masters in Canada. My sis forced me to speak to an agent today after I complained to her about not finding a suitable PGD Program after several months of searching. The agent suggested I could do Pre-Masters or a MBA. I am a lawyer; I have been searching for a PGD program in law since I realised that my CGPA (3.35) cannot fetch me a Masters admission but I am yet to find any. Anybody has any useful tips. Thanks! Actually 3.35 can fetch u a Masters, but it just that its very difficult and u have to package ur application very well by adding other stuffs, like employment experience in that field and other certifications u might have related to the masters field.. its always difficult though. if you try PGD, u will get that one had.. I had a 2.2 too and i am going for Masters.. wasnt easy but i added other things with my application not just my transcript as i wrote earlier. i tried Dalhousie. NB: ur G.P is a lil higher than mine .. so give it a good shot before settling for PGD.. Good luck |
