are right here is the point where our NL buddy, eyeReport starts to dribble around the point and focus on her claim that pataki has a crush/mirinda on accused.
Politics / Re: Manslaughter Case: Ibinabo Sent To Kirikiri by mustafar1: 9:43pm On Mar 31, 2009
what does the law say is the penalty for manslaughter, whether voluntary or involuntary? if its 6 months then so be it. if its 5years so be it. if its N100,000.00 fine then so be it. but if you dont know what the law states and you critique or support the judges decision i really do not know what you are basing your argument on.

all you saying manslaughter sentence na 12months max, or 5 years minimum. abeg make una provide where una get that one from. is it ur personal opinion or what the law states.

@must a par
the simple facts of the matter are ,

1.how many children are in the orphanages who have nobody to adopt or even buy or foster them?
answer-98% in Nigeria
reason?because of the stigma attached to adoption in Nigeria, including the cultural and sociological pressure.

2.how is the woman providing a service?
answer-due to the fact that childless couples in Nigeria will rather get a baby in secret, and then tell people their wife has given birth due to number 1 above, they go to this woman or people like her, buys a baby hence all controll and no trace of adoption due to number 1 above again.

3.young girls who have gotten themselves in that situation have a couple of choices

a.keep the baby and contend with societal ridicule from their peers, dropping out of schools, parents driving hem out of the house e.t.c
b.dump the baby in a public toilet somewhere or a refuse dump as so often happens and get eaten by dogs, killed by exposure to cold, soldier ants or become a vagabond and street boy to potentil armed robber or street girl to potential prostitute.
c.sell it to the lady who pays them and sells the baby on to parents in the category of number 2, note for a couple to pay at least 150,000 for a baby means they are prepared to give the baby a better life than he/she will rather have.

what choice will you have a confused girl, pregnant take in that situation, bearing in mind that orphanages are not everywhere

and where in the article did you read,
1. anything about her running an orphanage?
2. that they girls got pregnant and she is doing them a favor by caring for them and then helping them get foster parents for their children?
3. that if she didn't give the babies out for a fee, they get dumped in the refuse pit?
4. that the girls got pregnant out of their own freelancing.
5. that the girls we confused and approached her for help on how to care for or take care of the pregnancy/baby when it get delivered?

are these so called 'facts' you so beat your chest over present in this article(this particular case) or are they the extra you employed to make this movie. "two thumbs up"

if you can respond to these questions with reference to the article. i promise i would prostrate for u on the internet as my way of apologising to u for asking u all these 21 questions.

lucabrasi:

first of all,you need to chill out and stop blowing hot, second no one said anything was right about what the woman is doing, all i and some on here have said is simply that
1)how are we absolutely sure that the woman was not just taking babies off already pregnant girls and then selling them on and paying the girls off ,keeping the difference, this is totally different from having men or boys in a compund fertilising girls and then rolling babies off a production line for sale, you honestly think that sounds credible?
2)no one is saying the catholic church condones that act,all i and others are saying is that thew catholic church takes teenage mum s to be in and takes care of them untill they give birth, the girl is now asked to make a choice if she wants to keep the baby or give it up for adoption,i know what i am saying and you can simply google that online, the government in the uk has programmes of these sort as well

3)like i have severally re iterated, but i guess your pre concieved ideas abt my views will not let you see that, the woman has gone about it the wrong and illegal way and should have legalised it as she is providing a needed service, not just for couples in need of children, but helping young mums move on with their lives and babies having a better life that they would have with a teen age mum who doesnt want them

in case you didnt know,ONLY 2% OF CHILDREN IN NIGERIAN ORPHANAGES ARE ADOPTED OR EVEN FOSTERED FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME AND THAT IS A FACT

i guess its convenient to factor in as many IF's as we wish to make things seem more reasonable. until additional information is presented to counter what is presented by the report. all the IF's are just that IF's. we are simply mixing numerous things and joining those that wont mix with if's and but's.

as per ur postulation about me being biased towards u/ur comments on here. if thats what u think, then sure fire on all cylinders.

Politics / Re: Dora Akunyili For President by mustafar1: 9:58pm On Mar 26, 2009
proudly9ja:

I keep saying that people do not understand what they expect from Dora. Asking Dora to clean up the mess in Nigeria just shows ignorance.

I just listened to the NTA News now where Dora was shown carrying her rebranding campaign to the Nigerian Police. One thing she said is that Nigeria and Nigerians need Re-orientation. She went on to talk about police men illegally arresting innocent Nigerians for 'wandering' when all they were doing was taking a stroll outside. She said, this is what she is trying to change. That the poice need to change their orientation and so does every individual in Nigeria.

I think those who have condemned Dora, including eminent journalists have only done so because they hae not really stopped to think about what should be done.

As regards the CocaCola story someone mentioned above, I want to ask Mr Epiphany, if Cocal Cola has that kind of problem you highlighted, what will the PR of Cocacola be doing? Is it his/her job to make sure that the debris found in cocacola be removed? Not at all. His work is branding. Rather what he will do is spend millions on adverts REBRANDING Cocalcola. And that is exactly what Dora is doing. She is doing her Job!And for those who choose to select stories they hear, I just watched Dora addressing a press conference on state of the communication companies in Nigeria including her directive to them to improve dropped calls. Noone will see that. We only see what we want to see.

Finally, if Dora, and some of the people named above cannot rule Nigeria, can you guys please name someone who can rule Nigeria?

she is being made to look the way we see her by those that put her there. cos going by ur example, she is doing her job but someone else sure isnt cos the things she is trying to rebrand havent been touched by those that should touch it to get better or fixed.

funmie said each lawmaker should emulatete this one by donating money for the development projects of lagos west to lagos east. and the lagos east guy would return the favor later when lagos west guy decides to run for governor.

i've always wondered why senators reps members and state house of assembly members dont bring their brains together and work on the larger projects.

I am firm believer in collective intelligence. In the push to force Intercontinental Bank to disclose the true state of its affairs, I would like to ask every interested person on Nairaland to join a letter writing campaign to the European Investment Bank, EIB, from which Intercontinental bank claims to have obtained a 50m Euro facility. The point of this letter is to ask them to reveal the true nature of their business with Intercontinental Bank. It is particularly worrying that the bank inaugurated an education foundation soon after announcing the deal.

Please join in this campaign.

America wont send aid to no country for no reason. what kinda aid are being sent, millitary or food aid? whichever it is for a reason not really because they felt it was xmas. for the most part america has secured its own life jacket before sending a spare to Haiti.

whats pork barrel about it? if the allocation was meant for projects in the constituencies for the benefit and development of their constituents. wouldnt it make sense that he puts his constituents first? only if the article isnt telling us something properly. cos going by the article, i see the phrase 'constituency projects' was used more than once only if there is more than one meaning to said phrase than i know.

Lagosboy:

Tinubu was better than many PDP governors in terms of perfomance no doubt but the issue here is he his as corrupt as them as well. Fashola has achived in 18 months what Tinubu did not in 8 yrs and this is a fact. I  have sympathy for AC as a party only because i detest the PDP and OBJ not because Tinubu was a good governor or perfomed miracles in Lagos.

For all i  care Tinubu is just nursing his own presidential ambition and wants to be vice president to start with. The governor general himself is in firm control of Lagos politics and extending his influence to other south western states.

thats all that needs to be said. his plans might be to ride on the success of BRF when time comes to make noise about himself come 2011.
