I have been trying to remember this movie for the longest time. Of course it doesnt help that all I remember about is the preview. It is about a black family that came home for a particular holiday and all kinds of drama ensued. There were many black stars in the movie though I cant remember anyone of them. It was released either in 2005 or 2006. Thats all I remember. Can anyone help me ![]() |

Hi all, I discovered this thread a bit late into the recruitment process but I have read most of it and I must say it is informative, entertaining and amusing all at once. I am an SITP candidate and this thread would have provided me a much needed sense of calm when I was agonizing over the email for medicals. That's over now (thank God) so I have moved on to agonizing over the offer letter. I know it is almost sure but the almost part is still nerve racking. It will all end soon. For those who are still awaiting the invitation for medicals, keep your hopes up. It too will be done soon. Please let me know if I am jumping the gun here but can somone share with us how to prepare for the first trip out to Warri. What to pack, what not to pack. Will the materials be provided at ELV or are we to bring our materials etc. I am a bit of an over-packer so I need to know before start folding my matress and curtains. Lastly, I will be bringing my tennis racket with me. Will anyone else be doing the same ![]() ![]() ![]() |

She seemed to have this illogical aversion for me sleeping with other women in her bed. She kept crying and asking me why like I did something wrong. Apparently, she "loves" me and that entitles her to control over my sex life. Come on!!! this is the damn 21st century, inflation did not only affect currency, it also affected wild oats and lord knows i like sowing them. So I had to let her go. Now I need a new place to do my sowing but at least I dont have to put up with explaining to the other ladies why some crazy chick was standing over our naked forms with a bottle of acid. man she was dramatic. dont know why i stayed with her so long. i guess i loved her, in my own way. i miss her cooking sha but man go live, one way or another. |

NYSC is a waste of time. Most of the time you are engaged in mindless, tiresome activites like CD's that are actually hours spent sitting around doing nothing. The only good thing I can say about it is that it atleast provides a cushion period for university graduates during which they fully come to terms with the extent of the employment problem in nigeria and in a few fortunate cases, get jobs before the year is over. This is a negative positive because if there was no employment problem then it too would not be neccessary. |

god is everywhere and he sees every one. his voice is distinct and it cannot be missed. however, in my vast experience, i know God has a british accent. he sounds like a cross of Samuel L. Jackson and Pierce Brosnan. Somtimes, especially in the summer he may get a bit goofy and take on a jamo accent but you can easily see through it. watch out for irish and american accents though, that could be the devil and if it is a naija accent then you know it the babalawo calling your head (yourba english) put your ipod to the highest level and dont answer. hope that helps. |

dude do u have a girlfriend? if so where did you meet? if you don't then i'd suggest you followed ur advice on a good dating site instead of selfishly enriching the pond by changing multiple minds about online dating just so you could choose one. personal opinion: most of my dating has been online and i have no regrets. |

i love and appreciate poetry but that was a taste i had to develop on my own without much encouragement. it helped though that i enjoyed writing even before i knew anyone could write a poem. truth is poetry is an acquired taste and u dont really appreciate it fully if u dont try ur hands at it a few times. so even though i know it is sad that most kids dont appreciate poetry these days, I can understand why. Why be a poet when u can be Jay-FREAKING-z. another theory is that poetry like many art forms has evolved. perhaps back in the day, what you call poetry (academic poetry) was the rage and kids felt cool if they could recite shakespeare's sonnets off head. today, that stuff is just not cool anymore and rap/musical lyricism has taken its place. i listen to some rap songs (i hate rap by the way) and i have to just respect the lyricist cuz that stuff is not by accident. perhaps the message may not be as profound but the delivery and the attention to detail is apparent and kids are bobbing their heads and coming up with new stuff everyday. so in that way, poetry is not really putting them to sleep, it is waking them up. |

@mp7007 u dont have to be insulting about the way you give ur comments. wat personal beef do you have with the concerned sibling? really, i was starting to think maybe u were the brother in question. @topic i dont know much about malaysia but from wat i am reading i would definatly advice u to look at malaysia critically. it may not be a bad idea after all. @dasarge the gsm number is not complete. |

I think 300 was waaaayyyy better than Troy. The cinematography for one was more engaging and the story was simple and effective. No need to worry about remembering who is who that did what to who when and how. Very simple, 300 guys fighting a million and kicking major ass. Best Epic I have seen in a long while. And for those that hated the end, think about it. How else could it have ended ![]() |

Well i think mypeace has had enough bashing dont ya. @topic I had a personal experience with a receptionist too. I am serving in Lagos so when we left camp, I was rejected from my initial place and was looking for a place to serve. So I went to Alcatel (and I hope someone here works there so they can address this particular issue). I go in and say good afternoon , i would like to speak to someone here about the policy on take corpers. He goes "we dont take corpers" I go "but I'd like to talk to someone else" and he does not relent. Finally, after seeing that I would not back down, he says the HR guy is not around and that I should leave my CV and he will get back to me. I did. Ofcourse, no one called me. A week later, I run into one of my friends who says he is serving guess where ![]() Now I am somewhere else making almost 40k less than I would have been making at Alcatel but I like the place. The moral of the story is I agree with everyone but mypeace. IT is not your DAMN Job to ruin my f**king life so DONT. Of course, someone also told me that the receptionist is part of the interview. I went to a place where the receptionist was difficult but with a little patience and charm I was able to get myself invited for a test so that is also possible but i think you should not have to toast the receptionist to get your CV on the right table. |

First of all, I agree Yinka sucks. I used to like her a lot cause I sorta knew her as a kid but seeing her on this show has caused me to lose all respect for her. She is still beautiful but man! she is too too fake. One show she is shutting everyone down and speaking too much yoruba the next show she is over-feeling all the crap that is being shoved in our faces. I get that they should be encouraging but it's not even a fine line between encouragement and blatant deception yet she (and sometimes everyone else in the audience) manages to cross it over and over again. NFC, you say we should support them because they are doing nigerian stuff. That is all well and good but come on, are you telling me that bunch of talentless hacks is the best nigeria has to offer? I have to disagree. If the producers werent out to make a quick buck from the txt messaging revenue they would have taken the time to put on a good show. Left to me, I just think they are following the line of star search and other annoying so-called talent shows and taking advantage of the fact that west african idols is only on DSTV. And nigerians dont accept things because they are non-nigerian, they accept them because they are pleasing to the basic senses. It is a shame that too many nigerian productions do not fall under that category but the ones that do are definately appreciated. I need not mention the mega-music-stars that were made here in Nigeria. Personally, I think the show is crap unless its aim is to aggrevate viewers in which case it is doing an excellent job. The many minutes of ear drum scratching, off key, off beat, off everything singing are punctuated with nearly pleasant and barely passable moments and I dont think that should pass as a show. |

I have been alive 22 years now and I have not met or heard of any Igbo person who is, was or is even remotly considering the possibilty of maybe some day thinking about trying to become muslim. Is there such a thing ![]() ![]() |

u know what i found funnier than the joke? the fact that people actually took it seriously. i was laughing all the way through the piece. good one seun. your point taken. we need a more wholistic approach to solving fundamental problems. tell it to the politicians these days who just go about shouting i'll do this and i'll do that without saying how. |
![]() |
i'm sure this is a very important piece. it is also a very long one , i agree with u on the whole intellectual discourse thing but we also need to lighten up. , , , |
![]() |
why did u give her palmwine in a bottle small enough to be mistaken for a perfume. that was quite cruel. wonderful piece though. especially enjoyed the numerous and lyrical curses. one thing though, i dont quite get how expecting a bottle of perfume would cause the speaker to unleash such a tirade. |

LoverBwoy: The kind that need a job ![]() I think you should go for the interview and take that time to find out what you need to know about them. You may also want to tell them how you are doing at Oceanic so they know where you are from. Also, listen to most of the replies , they give great advice. |

Backslider: Do you hear yourself saying God did not KNOW ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All you can do is defend your faith by saying something like, the essence of God is mystery and we must have blind faith in him. I may not buy it but at least I'd have to respect you for doing so. And I can't find the quote now but someone said something about America being prosperous because of the christians who did something or the other. DUDE!!!! America is like the most immoral and anti-God country around. For crying out loud, they have legistlations against the Almighty and need I tell you where Bruce Almighty was produced? All forms of perversions emmanate from that part of the globe and they are proud of it. I have heard many say it must be the Babylon of our time. But dont take my word for it. Mark Twain is one of the most celebrated american writers of all time. He wrote this: http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/twainlfe.htm Take care before reading that link. You may never be the same. |

Well as a brief history: Schooled in America (Maryland to be specific) now back in Lagos doing time (NYSC Style). If you fall into this category please let me know. Misery loves company (actually so does happiness). I am an engineer by trade, a writer by passion and a slacker by habit. I do intend to write the great nigerian movie though.
