We are in the 90's now. Any guy or girl could either initiate the first kiss. For example,  If am with my girlfriend, when alone she sometimes get so close to me and look me straight in the eyes well enough for me to notice her intentions, which i will gladly respond to by giving her a soft kiss first to be sure and if she likes it it goes deeper.

On the other hand, if it has to do with me first, i just read the atmosphere and the surroundings, check if she's in her happy mood or sad mood. if happy Great but if sad, I give her the respect.

its obvious that a normal guy would ask a girl out but not from that point of view. This guy don is too direct and raw. You don't ask a girl out like that on the first date. Fate should lead Don and Bella together if really Don likes her. Asking her out on that spot ,its too raw and ungentlemanlike. I wouldn't advise any guy to do just that.
