Politics / Re: Can Someone Please Sue Fg For Blocking Phone Services In Abuja? by ndubest(m): 2:09pm On May 30, 2011
Being proactive in terms of national security is a positive development to ensure that lives are not lost senselessly.
However, the FG was not right by not informing residents of this imminent measure so people can plan for it.
Imagine if you had a visitor coming out of town who is a stranger and depended on the phone network to get in touch when in town.
The vistor would have been stranded, but if there was an information on this switch off to ensure that security was maintained during the ceremonies, people would have planned ahead.

What am I saying in the nutshell, FG messed up by not "informing" residents of this positive measure.
However, if you want to sue, it should be the GSM companies not FG.

Abuja residents have suffered so much for all this security hullabo stuff, starting from blocking of all major roads in the town whenever events are holding in Eagle Square. May be it is high time these events are taken inside the villa or moved to National Stadium, where security can easily be maintained rather than taking the poor masses through untold hardship

I hope the companies will be compensated and they in turn compensate us.
Thank God the internet servcies were working during this switch off period
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Champions League Final Barcelona V Manchester United May 28th 2011 by ndubest(m): 6:03pm On May 29, 2011
All Hail the one of the greatest team of the decade FC Barcelona.
It was the Galacticos of Madrid in the late 90s and early 2000s, football made with money which Abrahomic copied to put Chelsea together.
Now it is greatest team of the late 2000s and early 2011, football built from the scratch with education and youthfulness, "tiki taka"
I hope the English FA and others will learn from it and build their local football rather than importing made stars.

Hail King Barca
Sports / Re: Netherlands Vs Brazil [2 - 1] On 2nd July @ World Cup 2010 by ndubest(m): 6:21pm On Jul 02, 2010
Win some lose some that is the spirit of sportmanship.
Do not forget that the joy of winning is tripled after losing sometimes.

I was disappointed with this Brazilian team's attitude because they are bad losers.
Felip Melo took his frustration to Robben and Even Robinho clipped Robben and was shouting at him.

This is very unsportsman-like and Brazil with all their victories and trophies should know better how to taste the bitter pills they give to others without losing their cool.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Drogba named African Player of the Year 2009 by ndubest(m): 8:26pm On Mar 13, 2010
CAF GLO Award now is used as compensation for players NOT on merit.
This is already tarnishing the image of CAF and reducing the value of the award.

The controversy is even evident as BBC presenter mentioned it today that though Drogba won, most people thought Eto'o deserved the award.

Let's hope that next year it will be a fresh set of players. I am already tired of these trio being shortlisted regularly.

Politics / Re: Court Freezes Ibru’s N500bn Bank Accounts by ndubest(m): 2:33pm On Jan 21, 2010
I am finding it hard by the day to believe everything I read in our newspapers which cannot be substantiated with facts. If Mrs Ibru has N500B cash and could not bring out 50% of it to save her bank and her family pride, just like Elumelu, Ovia and Adenuga did, then it is strange. I hope is this is not an allegation of her worth, not cash in the bank. If I may ask, which bank(s) were these funds discovered? Account number details etc, the way they name property details with locations.

I hope they are not refering to the the monies in every account with Ibru surname on it as belonging to Cecilia Ibru.
Our journalists atimes like being sensational in their write ups

I will rest my case for now, until this develops further and more facts emerge
Education / Re: Unn Shut Down Over Students’ Fee Hike Protest by ndubest(m): 10:37am On Jan 19, 2010
@Batomustgo

I share your sentiments and I suspected you may have some connections with UNN to have all these information about Prof Okolo.
However, EFCC cannot work based on information posted by an anonymous person on Nairaland. I think you can help by providing credible evidence to support your assertions. That way EFCC can immediately swing into action.

I am sure with the concern expressed by Senator Ayogu Eze representing the area in the Senate, if concrete evidences can be provided, then EFCC will hv something to work with. One clue i may give from what you have said so far regarding evidence is for you to rally students that you know who have paid the new increment but were issued with receipt of N2,000. I think EFCC can start there, if there are people that are willing to come out.

I will be watching out as this story develops
Education / Re: Unn Shut Down Over Students’ Fee Hike Protest by ndubest(m): 9:15am On Jan 19, 2010
This whole saga or should I say allegation of the riots being instigated by lecturers is one thing that beats me. If there is an element of truth in it, which from my past experience there may be, it leaves me to wonder when students will learn and NOT allow themselves be used for achieve selfish interest of their teachers.

Prof Okolo may have been highhanded in the way he goes about managing the affairs of the school, but why not seek an audience with him either by persuasion or force if he refuses, by setting up camp in his office or at home. That way his attention must be drawn or even going to the press to make all the noise in order to get his attention. The students thinks they are fighting a good cause and I believe they were, however, they have used a wrong methodology by allowing themselves to be used by the Lecturers to prolong their stay in school.

It is unfortunate the Prof Okolo is not diplomatic and that worries me because he took over from or "allegedly annointed" by a Rev, who was very diplomatic in carrying out the affairs of university administration. Did he not learn anything from Nebo?

I think it is high time, that would be heads of institutions owned by government should be made to go through manadatory diplomatic training skills or human relationship management, just like ambassadors are orientated so they can learn how to manage crisis. Being an academic giant does not translate to being a good administrator.

It is very unfortunate that Great Lions and Lionnesses have decided to take the laws into their hands AGAIN. When I heard this story, I only hissed and asked myself if history will always repeat itself. Those of us that have been through this before in "The Den" can surely predict what will happen next and it is really unfortunate.
Given, I do not in anyway support the increment of fees (at least to the degree it is being speculated), though not yet officially announced as I understand, but going on destructive demostration is against the spirit of Aluta.
The students have succeeded in making the VC and other affected lecturers rich without knowing it.
Brand new cars, New clothes, shoes and brand new housing, all from the student's pocket and the fee will still be increased.

If they had read or learnt anything from history, they would have demostrated without destroying ANYTHING, that way, their grieviances would have been made known to the authorities and school will still be in sessoon for them to continue academic studies.

We all know what will happen next and I am sad to think about it.

I Pray for peace
Business / Re: CBN Considers Liquidating Ailing Banks by ndubest(m): 2:37pm On Jan 16, 2010
While Sanusi is blowing hot, I think it is high time the names of the banks that are not cooperating with CBN be made public. I doubt if it is all the  eight ailing banks that are not cooperating. Some may not be cooperating due to personal interests of the non-executive directors. The statement by Sanusi refering to all the eight banks will only cause panic among the customers of these banks and this i think is not in the best interest of these banks while they try to recapitalize. Threatening to allow the banks to fall is pouring fuel into fire rather than stabilizing the economy.

However, we need more information from Sanusi on what he refers to as "NOT COOPERATING" or maybe the banks can come to the open to tell us the other side of the story, though it is obvious CBN wants to sell these banks. He that is down needs fear no fall.

We still need to understand Sanusi's motive

NYSC / Re: How Relevant Is National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) In This Dispensation? by ndubest(m): 4:14pm On Sep 19, 2008
NYSC is a noble scheme

Those that served with zeal enjoyed it
Those that served for the certificate whined before, during and after the service.
Those that hear only the bad side of the "tale" SCREAM for its SCRAPPING.

Surely the SCHEME needs overhauling just like most parastals and agencies in Nigeria.

Foreign graduates do serve and most of them come for the certificate and not for the experience which is quiet unfortunate.
If you are a foreign graduate and NYSC deny you the opportunity of serving, then check the status of your school as regards recognition world wide.

I Served, I enjoyed it and I encourage every Nigerian graduate whether abroad or at home to do the same.
If you want to serve for the certificate, then the boredorm will be so much for you.

Ask the US marines in Iraq what they are doing and the joy they feel when their time in Iraq is over.
Even US marine with all the Billions of dollars pumped into Iraq once complained of their welfare let alone NYSC that do not have adequate funding.

One love people
Education / Re: Unilag vs OAU-Ife vs UI? by ndubest(m): 12:57pm On Jul 02, 2008
@superstan
Well, i said my views
but speaking objectively in all Nigerian institutions even in the special schools of engineering
there are three main engineering departments
Mechanical, Electrical and Civil
others schools that claim they do Computer, petrochemical or ICT and whatever name you want to design for it are still in the developmental phases and do mainly theory which you can downlaod from the internet
Reason
Where is the Laboratory and personnel you will use for this work
Engineering is a practical oriented course but most of our schools with all these other "big engineering" name are simply doing theory
That i have access to the internet and can configure one or two computer softwares does not make me an engineer in IT or software because a good student of computer science can comfortably do that

Am not really aware of the latest ICT you are refering to in OAU but if you call it Engineering, then i may beg to differ with you
Thanks man

The aim of this thread will soon erode sad sad sad

The poster made it clear that graduates or students of these schools are not eligible to comment for obvoious reasons
They will be bias and if am one, I will be too
so all graduates of these schools, please do not kill the thread by screaming for your school

Objectively speaking
The school of choice depends on what your intended course of study and the kind of life you want to live

If Aluta, ASUU strike, Beautiful campus and conducive reading environment, is your take please move to OAU
If you are interested in Parties and campus enjoyment with babes, UNILAG is the place to be
If you want old and quality professors with unending accademic sessions or over stay in school with "carryovers"  UI should be your pick

for courses like
Pharmacy OAU
Medicine UI
Engineering UNILAG

I may be wrong but this my Judgement

For me, I will pick OAU because i have interest in Pharmacy though their ASUU strike is a nightmare

Peace to all
