Nairaland / General / King Jonah, Otedollar Vs Farook by oferefe(f): 9:04am On Jun 14, 2012
1) And it came to pass after these things, on the first day of the first month of the twelfth year after the second millennium, that king Jona son of Bele announced to the people saying; there is no money left in the royal treasury, and the future of the kingdom is in great danger.

2) Therefore, a measure of oil shall no longer sell for three scores of silver and seven, but shall now be seven scores of silver and one. But the people grumbled aloud, and said unto another, what shall it profit our king to gain all these oil money and lose his throne?

3) For it is appointed unto him to reign but once, and after this prison, for many are the atrocities which he has committed.

4) So they said unto the king, eat thou thy food in peace in the palace, and surround thou thyself with thine women, only touch not our oil price and do thy people no harm.

5) But the king would not listen, and said unto himself, I know my people, they shall only grumble for a while and soon they shall forget.

6) But the people would not forget, for the burden was too much for them to bear, and they said; now unto him that is able to increase the price of oil exceeding abundantly above all that his people can bear or think, according to the greed which worketh in him;

7) Unto him be curses in the streets by the masses throughout all ages, protests without end. So they took to the streets and gave the land no peace, and there was no going out or coming in throughout the kingdom for two weeks, and the king feared greatly and said to himself, surely these people shall overturn me if I answer them not.

9) So he called the head of the labourers unto the palace, and gave him bags of gold, that they might turn off the wrath of the people against the king.

10) So the king assembled the people and said unto them; a measure of oil shall no longer be seven scores of silver and one, but shall now be four scores of silver, one dozen and one, to this your leaders have agreed. Praise me now therefore for I am a benevolent king.

11) And after all these, the Loudspeaker of the House of People said, let us inquire into the king’s claim that there be no money in the royal treasury. So they appointed Farcrook, son of Lawal.

12) And said unto him, gather ye now all the oil sellers, that we may know who stole from the kingdom. This did him with diligence, and came back with his report saying

13) Thieves abound in the land, and so have the oil sellers stole from the people, and gave them not oil, this they did with the help of Aliyaro the king’s mistress; and the amount he mentioned was unheard of in the land.

14) When the people heard this, they were dismayed, and sorrow gripped their hearts.

15) But the oil sellers went in unto the king in his chamber, and said; rememberest thou O king that the what we stole did we made available to thy campaign, and by thus did we make you king.

16) If thou deliver us unto the people that they may punish us, we will hold not our tongue to tell the people that thou art one of us.

17) And they said unto him, how else shall we destroy the message if not to destroy the messenger? Let us therefore implicate Farcrook the son of Lawal in this matter.

18) So they sent a certain rich man from the West by the name Otedollar, and he took Farcrook into his house and gave him some money, that he may alter the report which he had set before the people.

19) And it was that Otedollar went before an assembly of the people and said unto them, trust ye this man who said we stole from the treasury? Surely he is one of us, for he came unto me in the middle of the night, and he left with his pockets full of money.

20) And the people where amazed, and their hearts bled, for Farcrook was a man in whom they had put their trust.

21) So Farcrook arose, and said; Otedollar is my briber, I did not request. He maketh me to sit down in his Maitama house; he leadeth me beside the chilled champagne.

22) He exploited my greed; he leadeth me in the paths of marked dollars for subsidy’s sake.

23) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of EFCC, I will fear no arrest: for bribes are with me; my loots and my kickbacks they comfort me.

24) Thou preparest the dollars before me, in the presence of the SSS: thou anointest my mouth with wine; my pocket runneth over.

25) Surely the shame and reproach shall follow me all the days of my life, but I will dwell in the house of PDP forever and ever.

26) And the people wept, but there was no one to console them.

(At a table in a candle-lit restaurant overlooking the ocean, man and woman sit gazing longingly into each others eyes)

Man: (taking her hand) Baby, I love you,and each time I look into your eyes I see forever and a day, hold my hand honey, let’s walk this road together, be my wife, have my kids. Baby, would you please marry me?

Woman: (stands up and lands a stinging slap on his face) I knew it!

Man: Babe! you just slapped me?

Woman: I just knew it!

Man: You knew what?

Woman: So it was you?

Man: Me?what did I do?

Woman: (Pacing back and forth, pointing at him) So it was you all along?

Man: Babe,you are scaring me!

Woman: Ha! and pastor said it!

Man: Pastor said what?

Woman: Yes,pastor saw it!, even I (beating her chest) I saw it in my dreams!, so it was you?

Man: Babe!are you alright?

Woman: Keep quiet and let me talk.

I have waited more than two decades, I have prayed, fasted, sowed seeds, bought books and listened to tapes, even went out of my way to be nice to every male specie of marriageable age!

Every saturday was a different mall,I went from the galleria to city mall, from the palms to e-center, looking for you!

I left my “chick-lit-flicks” for sci-fi movies that I didn’t even understand, just so I could learn how to enjoy the things you love. I took up new hobbies, watching football and play station.

I went to Daystar, from Daystar, I went to House on the rock, from House on the rock I went to This present house, from there I went to Guiding light Assembly, looking everywhere for you like I was looking for a needle in a haystack!

(Turning around suddenly to face him)

Are you a needle? Did I have to buy a microscope or telescope to see you?

I lost weight, went from a size 14 to a size 10, so that when you see me you’d love what you see.

I took a short course at Lagos business school, worked for all the multi-nationals. I even opted to be seconded to Australia, I said to myself, ”maybe he is white.” I came back empty handed!

Then I left Lagos, went to Abuja, from Abuja I went to Port-Harcourt,then I went all the way to Kano, abi? I didn’t even mind if you were “malo!”

I joined hi-five,from hi-five to faceboook, then I went to twitter, I even had a blog on which I ranted, hoping you would show up! for where?

I uploaded only my best pictures on facebook, infact I took photo sessions to look my best, all for you o!

My friends ended up matchmaking me with every Tom, Dick and Harry, at first I didn’t like it, but as I grew older, I embraced it!

I attended all the weddings, whether the invitation was direct or indirect! You know what they say about meeting your life partner at weddings?

The next place I was hoping to check was the moon, before you crawled out, crawled out from the house directly next to mine!So it was you, the neighbour I said hello to every morning? Were you trying to destroy my faith? You almost rendered my prayer life useless? What were you doing hibernating in that house all these while, what were you waiting for? what sign where you looking for

(Man is speechless and confused almost in tears)

(She turns and sits with a mischiveous smile on her face)

I have waited almost three decades for you, and all along you were next door. I have loved you in advance and missed you even more, (She holds out her hand)

Now be a gentleman, get down on your knees and put that rock on my finger!!

N.B: To all single ladies quit looking in all the wrong places, let” the man” find you, it’s his job!

To all the single men, please come out of hiding, the ladies are waiting, and remember, it’s very “ungentlemanly” to keep a lady waiting!

Statement made by Honorable Patrick Obahaigbon on fuel subsidy goes thus:

I think it's largely successful, because before now the cohesive apparatus of state and those who will ,the aparachic of political soserinity never thought that the people will dere the machinery of the state. You can see all the way from Berger junction up to AP here. It's been an excitement, people have walked themselves into democratism paroism operatism, expressing themselves in a very loud and clear tone.Everybody have gone to matilonipples to say cabudo rejectament to the removal of subsidy and everybody is speaking with one voice and this is not only happening in Abuja, but across the length and breadth of the federal capital if Nigeria.Like ia said, when i gave my Debudelic arrang,i did say that all the rationtilation,al the adumbrations, verba gugriculation effiation that has been put forward by imperialism economies and petty buzwagigcon,by Jonathan, to be continued, grin

Family / Re: I Get Worried About Growing Old by oferefe(f): 2:36pm On Sep 06, 2011
Hmm, old age is also a stage in life.at every stage of ones  life, should be spent one day at a time because nobody knows what tomorow holds.that is why we have to live with a god work so that we have a happy mood growing old and having the assurance that where we are going is a place of eternal rest. The kind of life you live now is a function of kind of life you'l have as an old man/woman.i dont think you shoul be worried about that, if you live a good life you'l be rest assure that you have a reward for it and if otherwise, u know wat i mean my dear poster, may God help us all to have a fulfilled life.
Properties / Re: My Landlord Insists On 1year Rent. by oferefe(f): 2:23pm On Sep 06, 2011
grin
I don`t think it is ideal for the poster to pay more than what the law states, if the landlords feel aggrieved they can collectively come under an umbrella and approach the court that the law is repugnant and unacceptable rather than employing crooked means to solve the problem. We keep blaming the Government, the devil and enemies for our problems when we are actually the problem. The issue is whatever happens it is your fundamental right to seek redress in the law court and it does not matter how many years it will take or how the matter is handled by the corrupt judges, what matters is the fact that you are making a difference. We have remained in this abysmal state because nobody is ready to effect a change no matter how little,we talk loudly but are cowards when it comes to action. Poster,i will advice you to confront your Landlord, though humbly, respectfully and politely and tell him what the law states and if he refuses get a lawyer or report the matter to the appropriate authority. I have had a similar experience with a Landlord that keeps quitting his tenants after the expiration of their rent in 2yrs for flimsy excuses and i took the matter up when it got to me, i spent 3 yrs in the house without paying a dime and voluntarily moved out of the house after 3yrs while the matter is still in court,i can assure you that he (The landlord) is a changed man right now. I have a place for you to live that will be comfortable for you and your family and i will accept 1yr rent, if you should confront him and the matter does not go in your favor. "Nation of idiots ruled by fools". grin
